It's from One Silly Girl to Another Thing

Dear America,

summer composition numero dos

#945

signing in.

and it's gonna be a scorcher; oh, and we have an excessive heat warning running until 8 p.m. to boot...

And before I say anything else,  my thoughts and prayers are with the finest fire fighters in the nation, battling umpteen fires, with no rest from the weather pattern in sight.  God Bless you guys.

Though isn't it ironic, that as the state of California goes up in smoke, following years of a second round of Governor Jerry Brown, solidifying another round of reckless policy, sealing a trajectory ending with bankruptcy all but a done deal....eventually, while living out every leftists wet dream  -- the entire state is literally on fire.

BUT one thing is for certain -- fire should never be used to fuel political arguments.  And with that premise, let me fire you up with a smart analysis from Investor's Business Daily.....here.  And from another angle, this post is also good.   And then there's this guy....suspect of the Holy Fire in Southern California...adding the arsonist dimension to the mix of elements and elevations.

and yet, I really don't wanna talk about California.

Maduro making a few scorching observations of his own party is an interesting turn of events.

And considering it comes just as America's socialists, large and small, are beginning to heat up, it is a wonder how any of them can catch so much as 30 seconds of air time....

And can't wait for the debates to begin with this girl...."I think absolutely right now..she is the leader of..no no, um, she is speaker..or rather leader Pelosi..hopefully we’ll see..she’s ah..she’s the current leader of the party and..the party absolutely does have its leadership in the House and Senate." Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, responding to a question on CNN's "Cuomo Prime Time" show....gauging Nancy Pelosi's leadership presence...um, like, past, present and future.... and sounding like an idiot.

you know the next thing you should run for, Alexandria, is Miss America, just sayin.

Who also said this -- -"We only have empty pockets when it comes to the morally right things to do, but when it comes to tax cuts for billionaires and when it comes to unlimited war we seem to be able to invent that money very easily," Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says...

She needs to get her facts straight; not to mention, this girl is so sick and tired of hearing the worn out cliches against Defense spending...especially when it doesn't add up.

SOCIAL SECURITY, MEDICAID and MEDICARE and other mandatory, extra  INCOME support programs -- like food stamps, Unemployment Compensation, Child Nutrition, Child Tax CreditsSupplemental Security Income, and Student Loans [attached links coming from a place on the web called, "the balance"]  make up two-thirds of the Federal Budget.

And so, if you do the math, all the rest of the budget comes out of the remaining one-third, okay?  That means, Alexandria, the entire Defense Budget, including added war costs, comes out of the discretionary side of the balance sheet, and it is LESS than all the social programs put together. As a matter of fact, the Defense budget gets less than Social Security all on its own; and far less than the Medicaid and Medicare combined.

And guess what, Alexandria, the most important element of our economy is having the wealth, and those who are wealthy, amply supported by an economic system that motivates investment in order to EXPAND...even if that sometimes appears like "tax cuts" to "billionaires."   Who puts up the financial risk to build the business, the corporation, in the first place?  Every large corporate entity started with an itty bitty idea and somehow ends up employing a lot of Americans; all the while, added to the other half of America who are either owner/employed by small business, and we have ourselves a blazing environment (if not cut off at the knees through oppressive government policy) to not only meet the needs of our 300+ million people, but have the ability to be very charitable people in private.

"We only have empty pockets when it comes to the morally right thing to do?"  Seriously?  It takes nearly 3 TRILLION DOLLARS just to cover the expenses of social security, medicare, and medicaid and the miscellaneous, but mandatory, "other".....And the ugly reality of the BIG PICTURE is really only seen behind the scene -- as in the over 100 TRILLION DOLLARS IN UNFUNDED LIABILITIES within the Social Security and Medicaid entitlement programs.  In other words, we can't afford any of it.

And Besides:   It's not the government's money!  It's the people's money being held at the people's house.

Government does not produce anything but a bureaucracy of departments, coming complete with expenses and automatic increases year over year!  Ironically, one of the only departments with a leg to stand on, is, in fact, the one that falls directly under government's primary responsibility -- that being, our National Defense....providing a National Militia, for the safekeeping and security of the entire nation and its people.

Funny, too, that we could go all the way back to the another time, and another New Yorker, to the 1930's....and consider that to be our first mistake....but I really don't wanna talk about New York, either.

BUT THAT LINK right there, although from nearly ten years ago, explains the problem with Social Security (and entitlement thinking, in general) so well, I had to use it -- it's a must read.  Thank you,  Doug Bandow, and the Cato Institute, for the easy to read lesson on where America went so wrong...even if feeling the policy to be so morally right at the time.    Time's change.   And how.

I want Ben Shapiro to have a chance to debate this girl only to witness her go up in flames as fast as her sudden national notoriety, albeit rooted with socialist gimmicks and perhaps a "she's cute" mentality, right Michelle O?

But now going a whole 'nother direction, it would sure be kinda wonderful if President Trump tackled the Social Security ponzi scheme, and when he's done with that, fix Medicaid, and when he's done with that, fix Medicare, and when he's done with that, start slashing through a forest of bureaucracy, with branches that extend to the far-reaches of the earth.  It's all such a mess. And I do recall that he was the guy who said he could fix it, drain the swamp and everything...

yeah yeah, let's fire up some ponzi demolition and see what happens. see what happens.

Oh politics.  Some days we like it, some days we can't stand the heat...

but don't get me wrong, it's always the perfect kindling, whether up for national debate, or just some silly girl's  blog.  I mean, look at today, for example....pretty much just one silly girl to another, making a pretty point.

the end.

It's a Call for Better Supervision Thing

Dear America,

t-shirt dogma strikes again...

"In my defense,
I was left
unsupervised."

Teehee

toddlers, of course, come to mind.
dogs, too.

and this morning, we might as well go big, and add the entire state of California.

And yet, "unsupervised" doesn't really do the situation justice; it's really more a case of being left in the hands of The Left for way too long.  Thanks to Governor Brown's do-over, giving him a second run at head of state...... as if with a box of rainbow crayolas and all the freedom in the world......in the abstract -- the intentions of bringing California fully into its destiny, remaking the state into a leftist/socialist/utopian masterpiece, is nearly complete.

All that needs to happen now is the "redistricting"-- the state lines being delineated by a thick red line, preferably with a permanent Sharpie.  It's all about marking a line that The Fed can't cross, separating California from the rest of the 49 states, and conceivably, marking a line just as broad and wide as a colorful, graffiti'd wall --  and proudly tagged, of course, by the mishmash majority  --  the leftist elitists, power grabbers, radicals, and progressives all going rogue, and now taking over the lives of every Californian.  Every identity, agenda, and partisan policy wants to leave an impression, an imprint, to validate their worth and secure their position on the canvas.

California simply wishes to ignore the federal supervision that comes along with the privileges of being part of the United States of America -- the one nation under God, indivisible, that it is.

To frame it fully, take a glance here.

And here.
And here.
And here.

California may as well just begin throwing paint.  But just look at me, now digressing into an expressionists wet dream.

So.....Regarding the Fence.....the one we all agreed upon, before we didn't.

The politics of the state is not only oh-fence-ive to the few, the proud, the conservatives, who happen to remain and call California home, but in a mere ten years, the state's representation has totally done an about-fence, so to speak, for leftists sake.

Case in point:  the Secure Fence Act of 2006, legislation signed by President Bush with bi-partisan approval (80-19-1).  Then Senators, Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer BOTH voted in favor of it.  Then Senator, Barack Obama, VOTED IN FAVOR of it!  For some further background, go here...but beware, for like most things happening in big gov,  it's a little shady.

Now, here's the thing:
As senators, sworn into office -- any reversal of support for the wall, protecting our nation's sovereign borders, is pure, unadulterated contempt of the oath taken to serve and protect this country above all else. To smudge the lines of allegiance, just so, reveals a remarkable fall from duty and responsibility to the whole.  Such actions could easily be considered a disgraceful dereliction of duty -- and fully subject to being held accountable, and perhaps relieved of duty, given its treasonous nature to not nurture the nation's sovereignty.  boom.

Oh my.  Left unsupervised, this girl can sure rule her world, eh?

It's kinda funny, when I consider the possibility of California making her scrappy exit from the nation, my mind wanders into the What IF universe in a Dada nano-second.

What if North Korea starts to lob missiles our direction? a Thaad is not one of our things -- California doesn't own a single anti-ballistic missile system!  Hello?   The ships, the special forces, the artillery, the army of marines committed to the semper fi...ooh rah...every military asset belongs to the Federal Government.  Has California even thought this one through?

What if -- upon news of California becoming a sanctuary state -- every opportunist south of the border begins to make their trek north?  Why even bother to have a border check point, if in fact, the line of separation is meaningless and completely useless?  At what point do we meet the threshold, unable to take in even one more soul (no matter how kind and hard-working they may be)?

Me thinks good fences make good neighbors, but maybe that's just me being G.

What if -- under the weight of the massive financial responsibility to care for the whole, California must resort to increasing taxes to European levels, creating reason for a mass exodus to anywhere but here?

What if --  the Leftists become so successful in shouting down and shutting up opposition, whether in Berkeley or San Bernardino, north or south --  be it peaceful speech, contrary policy ideas, or humble gatherings of like cause --  that  any and all opposition becomes non-existent?   Calling attention to a popular movement of leftist origins  -- what a mockery they make of any intent to "co-exist;" as it becomes increasing clear to be more a platitude of plaster of Paris and collage, and an exhibit of the highest form of hypocrisy, than of genuine, bonafide, one love one world, no matter the differences.

Is this when we return to burning books and blogs, too?

Oh and just how do we combat the breaking bad phenomenon, be it beginning with California whackadoodles and ending badly?

And then again, maybe this girl is just showing her age, right?  There is that.

Like most people, I thought it would take longer to get here, too -- but now that I'm here, all I can do sometimes is sit in my corner window and pray.  I pray not just for my little world, but on behalf of the entire, magnificent universe of life and love and liberty that surrounds us all.  oh how I pray.

From my favorite devotional, Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, this morning:

"Wait quietly in My Presence while My thoughts form silently in the depths of your being.  Do not try to rush this process, because hurry keeps your heart earthbound.  I am the Creator of the entire universe, yet I choose to make My humble home in your heart.  It is there where you know Me most intimately; it is there where I speak to you in holy whispers.  Ask My Spirit to quiet your mind so that you can hear My still small voice within you.  I am speaking to you continually: words of Life...Peace...Love.  Tune your heart to receive these messages of abundant blessing.  Lay your requests before Me, and wait in expectation."

indeed
yes please.
no need to ask me twice -- come to me, BIG G, and quiet my little mind.

...Supervise Me; supervise my every word and deed and still moment to come.

Make it a Good Day, G

It's a Ripple of a Rush Thing

Dear America,

"socialism is a philosophy of failure, with the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy.  It's inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery,"  thank you, Winston Churchill.

and California is well on it's way.

to think... there was a time when the spirit of the Gold Rush created the future of all possibilities, beginning with industry and ending with the Golden Gate Bridge, the skyline of San Francisco, and the insatiable attraction of people from around the world, complete with the making of a seaport pioneering international economic fortunes and a city built upon pocketfuls of ethnic neighborhoods feeding the frenzy of the wild wild west through the bounty and beauty of free enterprise.

Activists sporting a campaign promoting some kind of "living minimum wage" would have been laughed right out of the saloon and chased to the edge of town.

Considering this girl has had her passion for this campaign cycle ebb and flow much like the Pacific tides, it warms my southern California spirit to see that it might just matter this time around...not that that's saying very much, if proper perspective has it's due.

So for kicks and giggles, let's take a look at what this means --

“some people feel that Donald Trump will bring the revolution immediately if he gets in, things will really explode.”

Asked if she thinks that’s “dangerous,” she replied,

“It’s dangerous to think that we can continue the way we are with the militarized police force, with privatized prisons, with the death penalty, with the low minimum wage, threats to women’s rights and think you can’t do something huge to turn that around.”

so this is Susan Sarandon, responding to a question during an interview on MSNBC's All In With Chris Hayes -- and quoted in a post @ The Daily Beast, here.

Her point, being a Sanders devotee: that she may even consider pulling the lever for Trump over Hillary!  At least he will bring "the revolution immediately" she ponders, out-loud, and for all within earshot to hear.

“I think, in certain quarters, there’s growing concern that the folks that are into Bernie Sanders have come to despise Hillary Clinton or reject Hillary Clinton and that should she be the nominee, which is as yet undetermined, they will walk away,” Hayes said.
“That’s a legitimate concern,” Sarandon replied. “Because they’re very passionate and principled.”
...And if  "they're very passionate and principled," then what am I?  But I digress.

But just listen to her --

Listen to what she rattles off as her go-to list of top concerns --

  • the militarized police force,
  • with privatized prisons,
  • with the death penalty,
  • with the low minimum wage,
  • threats to women’s rights
Yes, these are dangerous times, Susan, and just listen to the Leftist talking points marching to the beat right on cue.

So -- being a girl of passion and principle, too -- here's my list:

  • Radicalized Islamic terrorists...from lone rogue attacks to the highly organized group efforts, formerly recognized under the names of ISIS, al Queda, Hamas, Hezbollah, boko haram,..
  • A nuclearized Iran, with no economic sanctions and no boundaries
  • Women's rights in the Middle East, Africa, and just maybe even in the United States and Europe...any neighborhood where Islam and Sharia law reign together, enslaving women from birth.
  • Education in America -- indoctrinating our children with a liberal, leftist ideology and erasing the fundamental principles and duties and responsibilities as citizens from the curriculum.
  • Losing the fundamentals of our free enterprising spirit -- from wages to growth to taxation, the culture has lost our way....it's somewhere between crony capitalism and the dreams of creating a liberal utopia....I blame it on the left turn when we should have taken a right.
[and PS I happen to like the death penalty -- the problem is we don't actually use it, making it no longer a deterrent or influence preventing harm against humanity as the law was originally designed.]
But let's regroup, shall we?

I take issue with the realization that Susan Sarandon believes she just might vote for Trump over Hillary.  What a rip.

That is a real problem.

It makes me all tied up in knots, as I bear witness to my passion -- now, well on it's way on the ebb of the sparkling azure tide bubbling over my toes and out to sea.  ugh.

If California matters, then we are all in for a world of hurt.

Now, the reality is...it's a dead heat.  Emphasis on dead -- which may, come to think of it, be a first in perspective.

But make no mistake -- we are witnessing a slow death to America.  The passionate fight for all things America stands for -- principles and all -- is being drowned out by irrational, emotional liberal activists...ah who are we kidding, SOCIALISTS...

IN the midst of this self-inflicted enthusiasm gap, I'm gonna  close the day with this:

But proposing to close the “wealth gap” is worse than silly. It entails a lie. The notion of economic equality is based on an ancient and ugly falsehood central to bad economic thinking: There’s a fixed amount of wealth. Wealth is zero-sum. If I have too many cups of tea, you have to lick the tea pot. But wealth is based on productivity. Productivity is expandable. Otherwise there wouldn’t be any economic thinking, good or bad, or any tea or tea pots either....

So, if wealth is not theft, if the thing that makes you rich doesn’t make me poor, why don’t collectivists concentrate on the question, “How do we make everyone wealthy?” Or better, “How have we been managing to do this so brilliantly since 1820?”

for the rest of this, go to a REALLY old post -- from 1997! -- here, "Closing the Wealth Gap" by P.J. O'Rourke.

indeed.  Read the whole thing, if you will; it's really good.

How do we make everyone wealthy?

Productivity is expandable! [or, as sure as the low tide,  it can contract ... from the weight of faulty thinking, and other things]

What the world needs now, besides love sweet love, is a golden rush!

oh the unlimited lightness of being productive -- buoyant and resilient and unsinkable!

my little twinkle toes are beginning to twitch and show a sign of life once more.

Make it a Good Day, G

and one more thing -- from one Susan S. to another....Susan B. Anthony was born in 1820.

It's a Look, Seek, Find It Yourself Kind of Day Thing

Dear America,

so we have to talk about a few too many things today...what else is new?

But first, let's pause for a commercial from my fine state of California -- who came up with this?

California...
find yourself here.

really?
Do we really have to be a magnet for the lost, forlorn, the unemployed and insecure?

Here's another thought -- if the truth sets us free, what do flat out lies do to us?

And another -- how can this Propagandist-in-Chief sleep at night?

And another -- will G be able to keep this up and end every sentence with a question?

Yesterday was simply amazing, wasn't it?

The full text can be reviewed here; however, allow me to hit some of the highlights:

"Now, if Congress allows this meat-cleaver approach to take place, it will jeopardize our military readiness; it will eviscerate job-creating investments in education and energy and medical research. It won't consider whether we're cutting some bloated program that has outlived its usefulness, or a vital service that Americans depend on every single day. It doesn't make those distinctions."

"Emergency responders like the ones who are here today -- their ability to help communities respond to and recover from disasters will be degraded. Border Patrol agents will see their hours reduced. FBI agents will be furloughed. Federal prosecutors will have to close cases and let criminals go. Air traffic controllers and airport security will see cutbacks, which means more delays at airports across the country. Thousands of teachers and educators will be laid off. Tens of thousands of parents will have to scramble to find childcare for their kids. Hundreds of thousands of Americans will lose access to primary care and preventive care like flu vaccinations and cancer screenings."

LIES.  LIES.  LIES. LIES.  But keep on keepin' on chicken little.  Perhaps when all these people have lost their purpose in life they can all flock to California and smoke pot, liberally dispersed from our medical marijuana outlets,  and find themselves all over again.

Leadership decides what gets cut; but nice touch with throwing everything you can think of into the mix, including that last thought there about "[losing] access to primary care and preventive care like flu vaccinations and cancer screenings."   Didn't your 2.7 trillion dollar Obamacare law just fix all that?

And what about what you said in November of 2011?  Didn't you "vow" to veto any bill that would undo the sequester spending cuts?   Now that's a good question.    And a big shout out goes out to "sweetness and light" for a little help with supplying a honey of a video backup.

But there he is -- standing with a backdrop of "first responders" -- backtracking on a pledge...

"So these cuts are not smart. They are not fair. They will hurt our economy. They will add hundreds of thousands of Americans to the unemployment rolls. This is not an abstraction -- people will lose their jobs. The unemployment rate might tick up again."

Now, we have talked about this 85 billion dollars in cuts already; we poked a little fun with the idea that if they are so draconian, why are we committed to doing them at all?

But seriously -- 85 billion?    That is like a drop in the bucket when we are running over a trillion dollars in deficits each year, no?   The pencil pushers have already  figured out, it's less than two percent of the budget.   And really now, wouldn't leadership -- department heads, czars, the president -- make the final call?   Who's really in charge here?  DO we really have to start with the emergency responders, or do you think we might be able to cut other people, places, and things first?

Clearly, yesterday's performance was all about the Radical-in-Chief being the first responder of  demagoguery.  His plan is to use this sequester battle to bury the GOP into the ground, even while he has no intention of making cuts to anything; he wants America to go down, in flames, if possible.    This is what he has dreamed of all his life.  [Of course, most Americans see him as the outsider and savior in chief, not the destroyer; fool me once, shame on you -- fool me twice, shame on me...but I digress]

In other words, make way for ducklings which leads to fundamental transformation.  that was easy.

The thing is people --  We, the people, are no longer free people.

WE have already lost our liberty.  Our freedom and liberty died when we began to accrue serious debt, debt we will be unable to pay back in our lifetime, in our children's lifetime, in many lifetimes to come.   Freedom goes right out of the equation when we are chained to a debt so great, it is inconceivable and unimaginable to see the way back.

As a people we have reached our limits -- emotionally and intellectually.   We are seeing, witnessing in the everyday, the unintended consequences of our lack of attention to keeping our word, keeping our faith, keeping our solvency, keeping our hearts and minds healthy and vibrant and good (without the use of questionable prescription or recreational drugs).

WE are a mess.

WE are lost.

WE need to be found (not sure California is the place to start...just sayin'.  and I live here, so I should know, right).

I have to end with something funny or else I may go mad before the clock strikes ten...

Remember that moment in Legally Blonde, when Elle goes off on her argument something like this:

'exercise gives you endorphins,
endorphins make you happy,
and happy people
just don't shoot their husbands.'

just give me a courtesy laugh and we can all go on with our day...but no lie, there's a pretty good message in there somewhere.  look, seek, find it yourself.

Make it a Good Day, G

It's a Chronic Thing

Dear America,

so it's happy tuesday.

a "local" taco shop -- which calls itself "Chronic Taco" has closed.

and you say, well, G, it's so cal, there must be a taco shop on every corner...

and I say, well, so?

Now...there are a few other things you should know:  1) it is an operation well funded, operating tons of stores from so cal to AZ to Vegas to British Columbia.  2) it opened in Solana Beach, like only eighteen months ago. 3) the atmosphere is colorful, loud, bordering on obnoxious --  while the food quality, marginal at best.

Free market evaluation:  you can have all the bells and whistles popping, but without the substance to back it up...buh bye.

Now...if you go on Yelp! for fair and free spirited customer evaluations, the message rings loud and clear: to pass itself off as a taco place in southern california, you gotta do a whole lot better than that; not to mention, the food was labeled "greasy" "rubbery" and just plain sucked.

Sure, we have gobs of supply in the taco arena; but let's get real.  Unless you are a Mexican restaurant rooted in the neighborhood, with a following surviving multiple generations -- when it comes to the fast food alternative, the only taco purveyors who make it -- are called 'taco stands.'

Now...to understand what I just said, you would need to be local; but let me help you out a little.  A taco stand with any kind of following isn't LOUD, isn't corporate, isn't gimmicky in any way -- it's authentic, simple, yummy Mexican food without the fluff.  The appeal grows out from the grassroots, with surfers rolling in after the dawn ride, with tres generations taking over on Sunday afternoons. That's it; it doesn't get any more complicated than that.

The stand makes it on it's own merits -- or it doesn't.  The Chronic Taco, though clever in it's name and radical showmanship, just didn't cut it. [hmmmm this reminds me of something, not sure what it is...] Of course, if you are visiting Vegas from Tallahassee, 'the Chronic' might be just the ticket.

Another example of the whole supply and demand thing that has caught my attention -- a little something called "Cafe Cup."  Have you seen this advertised on TV?   It's a miniature plastic container that fits inside the latest one-cup coffee machines -- you know, the fancy ones that come with all sorts of flavored coffee varieties and all you have to do is drop in the coffee serving, already pre-measured and press go.

It's expensive.  As the ad notes, would you spend $35/pound on coffee?

So what does the free market entrepreneur come up with?  An improvement upon the one-cup coffee maker that tops the original idea in spades and clubs -- it's like chronic.  Who'd a thought?  And so quickly!

But there you go -- no need to buy the expensive, pre-measured gourmet coffee cups with the fancy label across the top; just buy you favorite local blend, already ground or not, and fill the reusable plastic cup -- drop it in, just like the good stuff, and press go.  mmmmmm .....smells the same and tastes probably infinitely better, as it hasn't been packaged months ago in a warehouse goodness knows where.

Now how marvelous is the free market!

Life gets easier, cheaper, sweeter all at the same time...

Unless we're talking gasoline in California.

Oh and Barbara Boxer and Diane Feinstein are on it, by golly.  They want an investigation.  Just how in the world did you two make it this far?

Um. Ladies.  How about start "investigating" the regulations implemented by the state of California.

Now, I love finding new places to feed my voracious appetite for immediate public feedback. And this morning I found just the spot out of northern California -- it's only fair I give NoCal a moment to shine, right?  So out of San Jose -- here's something else chronic; it's called "Roadshow".

Did you read it?  Do it.

give you a minute...

Fair questions. Fair answers. And even with a little attitude thrown in; just substance and showmanship workin' it. But let's not dwell...

The thing is -- Ms. Boxer and Ms. Feinstein -- it's called supply and demand.  Do you need to investigate that?

Sacramento did this to us.

Much like our coffee, it turns out we like our special blends out here in California A LOT; don't tell anybody, but we're really a bunch of snobs.  And for our rich tastes and grassroot's snobbery, there is a price to pay [and the Oscar goes to ...the environmentalists...thank you, thank you very much].  Hence, we arrive at the special blend of gasoline preferred by bureaucrats two to one. ....just G chronically generalizing, business as usual.

Now, something else -- we have only 13 refineries in California -- and four are down at this time.

AND to top it off [badump ba], because of our special blend requirements, we can't buy gasoline across state lines. It's not like we can turn to Nevada and say, hook me up, dude... Our supply is stuck in low gear.

Supply meet Demand.  Demand meet Supply.   Hello, how's it hangin'?  tubular.  yeah, like I'll take a carne asada burrito, uh tres rolled tacos con guacamole, uh and a guesadilla,  a side of rice...oh yeah, dude,  uh can I get extra salsa verde with that, the waves were really ragin' today...uuuh

California has created it's own market place for gasoline; we have made a basic commodity so special, we can't afford to bottle it anymore for one reason or another.

But let's be real, shall we?  There is no mystery here. There is no slight of hand, by way of price gouging; nobody is dumping the stuff blind behind the barn; we have issues keeping up with the demand, our supply is failing us, and with the special blend regulations, it only further restricts any alternative universe to save us.

But more than anything else -- gasoline is a commodity.  And it's like liquid gold to those of us who love to drive, addicted to the rush and the ability to get in the car and press go.

Switching gears and returning to a thing of substance vs. show before I go....

From the Obama camp, following the phenomenal foreign policy speech from Mitt --

"'This is somebody who leads with chest-pounding rhetoric,' campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters aboard Air Force One." via yahoo! news here.

yeah.  saying "Hope is not a strategy" is provocative, isn't it?

"The attack on our Consulate in Benghazi on September 11th, 2012 was likely the work of forces affiliated with those that attacked our homeland on September 11th, 2001. This latest assault cannot be blamed on a reprehensible video insulting Islam, despite the Administration's attempts to convince us of that for so long. No, as the Administration has finally conceded, these attacks were the deliberate work of terrorists who use violence to impose their dark ideology on others, especially women and girls; who are fighting to control much of the Middle East today; and who seek to wage perpetual war on the West."

still not getting chest pounding...

"Statesmen like Marshall rallied our nation to rise to its responsibilities as the leader of the free world. We helped our friends to build and sustain free societies and free markets. We defended our friends, and ourselves, from our common enemies. We led. And though the path was long and uncertain, the thought of war in Europe is as inconceivable today as it seemed inevitable in the last century.

This is what makes America exceptional: It is not just the character of our country—it is the record of our accomplishments. America has a proud history of strong, confident, principled global leadership—a history that has been written by patriots of both parties. That is America at its best. And it is the standard by which we measure every President, as well as anyone who wishes to be President. Unfortunately, this President's policies have not been equal to our best examples of world leadership. And nowhere is this more evident than in the Middle East.

I want to be very clear: The blame for the murder of our people in Libya, and the attacks on our embassies in so many other countries, lies solely with those who carried them out—no one else. But it is the responsibility of our President to use America's great power to shape history—not to lead from behind, leaving our destiny at the mercy of events. Unfortunately, that is exactly where we find ourselves in the Middle East under President Obama."

it's called measured, statesmen-ship.... not showmanship.

If you did not have a chance to listen to him, PLEASE read the entire thing, go here.

Whoa dude. What just happened?   I went from Chronic Taco to chronic coffee to chronic gasoline to a chronic foreign policy speech.... sometimes, I just don't know how I do it....chronic G, that's me.

It's Day-Tripping on California and a Zing or Two Thing

Dear America,

look out.
California doesn't need to wait for the outcome of the next election to know its future...
No need to even swing by the Haight-Ashbury district to get our palm's read or smoke something psychedelic...
And certainly no need to wait to see the latest infrastructure fiasco to come to a high speed halt, having declared itself belly up.

Nope.
No need to wait.

The governor has declared to go all in, to turn California into a bureaucratic, welfare state, utopia -- come one, come all.

As if it is not enough to know that the recently "naturalized" citizens under Obama's new definition of illegal will now be able to get a driver's license, no questions asked -- but as of this morning, we have a new line item deduction for every paycheck.  It is in the amount of 3%.

Everyone in the state of California will be placed into this program.

GO HERE for a pretty complete breakdown of the entire thing.

somebody going by the name 'indaba' said this in the comments running underneath:

"As a small business owner myself, this would be one more reason to stay at 4 employees and outsource all the work I could. The extra admin and time and then the added cost in these client rare times would be overwhelming.

govt officials doing these programs should be required to run a small business for a year and meet a payroll every two weeks. If they do not meet payroll, they should have to get the amount deducted from their own pay until they have to take a line of credit with the bank and go into debt to keep the business going.

Then, and only then, should they be allowed at the levers of government. Goodbye California, nice knowing you."

and there ya go.

Guys and dolls who have never worked in the real world -- those who cling to the bureaucratic answer for everything -- do not understand the trickle down effects of bad policy.

And as for the ability to fundamentally-frighten factor, unleashing the unintended consequences of such an action -- we will not have to wait long for this one to take it's full affect.  Just a whiff of this, and it's enough to send us spinning.

This is just a another governmental ponzi scheme to steal money.  It's THREE percent!  And it will take extra work on a bi-annual effort to opt out from here on out.

All this, virtually on the morning after Campbell's Soup lays off 700 workers before the end of next year at their northern California operations.

And if you have time, GO HERE for a post entitled: The Export Business in California (People and Jobs), by Wendell Cox -- dating back to the business climate of just five months ago.

California's population continues to grow due to migration from other countries and births exceeding the number of deaths.

It has been estimated that it costs Californian's over 10 Billion a year to cover the expense of "incarceration, health care, and education of illegal immigrants."

And keeping things real, even facebook can't save us now -- and surely, that wasn't part of the plan, was it Jerry?

Ya see, Jerry -- and anyone who favors Jerry's twisted ways...

is that eventually --  by way of growing a bigger, better 'state'....eventually, we run out of other people's money.  Was this notion first uttered by Margaret Thatcher?   Who knows and who cares; that is the least of our concerns right now, isn't it?  isn't it, California?

So.  Is it accurate to say,  so goes California, so goes the nation?  Here's another clue...just out today.

Only time will tell.

In other news -- we are two days out from the long anticipated presidential debate.

Real quick:  this is a fascinating tactic out of the Obama camp -- "oh, I'm just okay."  Says BO; giving his humble opinion about his ability to debate.  Oh -- he's so much better than me.

Oh Ok.

From the guy who has spent the last four years going I, I, I, I, me, me, me, me -- is he actually going to hide  behind a curtain of phony humility? The incumbent -- the one with precedence in his favor -- is attempting to  come off as the underdog?   One of the greatest orators of our time [on teleprompter, that is] is pleading the fifth element of public speaking?    Oh, I can't speak that good, no good, or all that well...really now, just look at him, just look at what I'm up against...

Oh Ok. That's a good one.

Barack Obama is a lawyer for pete's sake -- are you kidding me?  You can't argue very well?

Oh and you guys don't stop there, now do ya?

Speaking on behalf of the president upon Air Force One, Jen Psaki duly noted:

"He wants to speak directly to the families -- the people who are on their couches at home, having snacks, drinking a beer, drinking soda, whatever it is, and tuning in for the first time -- and that's who he's speaking directly to...

We also saw in reports that Mitt Romney and his team have been working on zingers and special lines for months...

That's not what the President's focus is on. So if you're expecting that, that's probably not what he's going to deliver on."
Oh Ok.

Alerting the masses of Mitt's intention to zing one in there, to put this president in his place [working on that for months even!] -- the Obama campaign claims to take the high road all the way and days before either one has had a chance to make their opening statement.   Audacity lives to see a second campaign.  oh joy.

And way to make another disingenuous plug to the simple man drinking the beer on the couch. But you know, now that you mentioned it, inquiring minds wanna know -- is that guy with, or without, a factory job? Does the couch have any holes in it?   But good thing for you that dog just ain't gonna hunt today, poor little bubba-boo has gotta bum leg; G's just got no stinkin' time to respond to that crafty characterization tossed in for working class color.

We can only hope Romney has it in him to zing him once, if not the begeesus out of him.  The truth is [and I've done some polling on it... if only in my own mind... given the purple haze wafting through the air all the way down from Sacramento] from what we've seen so far, Mitt seems way to polite to bite.  I double dog dare you, Mitt.

Only time will tell.

REMEMBER:
the making of the best zinger,
albeit clever and zingy,
is grounded in truth.
But consider this --
they are much like our
High Speed Rail
in California.
Once planted,
it takes on a life of it's own
for better or worse.
While the best is totally,
shamelessly,
purely
Organic.
[oh yeah, baby, and we like our organics out here.]
Don't zing when you should have zang.

Make it a Good Day, G

Dear America,

as the world crumbles...

hey, this may be the last time you hear from me (yippy skippy, right?)  -- rumor has it, a ginormous cloud of radiation will be at my front stoop by morning...

...couple that glowing news along with the "supermoon" on the horizon and heading our way
...which, according to sound data from the best and the brightest, is bound to create the very conditions likely to set off  tsunamis and earthquakes some time before mid-afternoon
...which, ultimately, and very likely, have the capability of spiraling out of control before five
...which, very possibly, could cause most of California to be cut off from the mainland before sunset

-- life's been good -- love and kisses to you all -- fare the well -- arrivederci -- buh bye.

That, all the while, Moammar Gaddafi calls for a cease fire, yet keeps on shooting; while Japan struggles with a catastrophic PR fiasco, a nuclear energy disaster, and oh yeah, while about a half a million people didn't eat dinner last night and are struggling to stay alive in the midst of freezing temperatures; while Wisconsin has everything they ever wanted swept away overnight (at least for now) through the ever so popular rules for radicals means, perpetrating legislation from the bench, taking the idea 'elections have consequences' to a whole nother level; while the Saudi King is handing out 93 billion dollars to keep the peace, if not at the very least, trying to buy it; while our Secretary of State says she has had enough -- she's tired -- she will not be returning for a do-over, fly overs or not, if Obama gets re-elected (your timing is impeccable girlfriend) --

AND what is our fearless leader doing?

oh nothing much -- golfing, attending fundraisers, making his NCAA picks, motioning 4B's in spending cuts is good enough for government work, packing for vacation... in Rio (a-oh, he's leaving on the full moon).

Bombarded with mounting evidence that this country has totally lost it's marbles, I went to my happy place this morning -- The Patriot Post.  I've said it before, and I'll say it again...I love you, man...Are you not the tall glass of water this girl's been searching the world high and low for; just when I thought it was of no use, that no one could ever understand me, there you were, just waiting for me to turn the corner and bump right smack dab into you (oops, think you got peanut butter in my chocolate).

READ THIS from COLONEL Olly North.  it is really good and spot on.
Somebody -- hurry -- hang another star on this guy; c'mon, c'mon, we don't have much time...

and that's it; that is all you have to do today; I will not ask anything more of you -- considering, the end of the world is so near and all.

Make it a Good Day (for it may be your last...), G

wonder if going to Brazil has anything to do with making another money grab for SOROS...probably not, right?  we can't drill here...but we can drill for his friend george.  hmmmm

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Dear America,

Top of a Tuesday morning to you --

and boy have we hit rock bottom when we disenfranchise the troops from voting; it's not their fault the primary election was later than usual, and yet even with an extension granted, America's hot spot of New York continues to place true, blue democracy in harm's way, leaving void the voice of the few and the proud wishing for both a ballot and perhaps a good steak.

Dear New York: if we can air missile in a pop star like Jessica Simpson for just a song, then I do believe there's a way to airlift ballots by the duffel bag -- overnight.  Matter of fact, I'm sure, if you asked nicely, FedEx would offer their services and get the write off.  But to leave these guys and dolls hanging out there in the dust with no vote is simply wrong.  Do something about this, please.  Sincerely, and thanking my lucky stars I don't live there, G.
Then there's this,

"well do you have any evidence that it's not, Bob?"

snapped an Axelrod to a Schiffer on Sunday; he was responding like the political punk that he is to a question with a question.  Got to love the effort to dig a little deeper after that with the rhetorical question,

"is that the best that you can do?"

The great thing about news, and it travels fast, is that we not only get it in a timely fashion -- we get it; we can replay the tape over and over, we can recall what he said, she said from two days ago, from a week ago, from late last year, with just a tap on the old keyboard. In an instant we are reminded of our inherent ability to put the story, and all it's varied and sordid pieces, together.  Bing!

The left seems to be under the impression that we don't care, or even wonder about, where they get THEIR money; if I didn't know any better, I would call their behavior acting stupidly...thinking that we might possibly be what, so stupid.  But you go ahead, and put out there the "questionable activity" of "foreign money" bleeding into the GOP coffers, go ahead; go ahead and call out the Chamber of Commerce for it's alleged illicit handling of private and corporate donations...

This is exactly why we have the non-disclosure act in the first place -- to protect from intimidation -- which at every chance and in every breath you seem to solidify the very cause.  Keep it up.

But how low can you go?  You really want to go there -- because if we go down that fox hole, we can just have that hand-to-hand combat that our president seems chomping at the bit to start,  right now.  I'll show you mine if you show me yours, deal?   May the better, above board, man (or girl) win.

And this president of ours, when he lashes out against the Chamber like that, doesn't he get that he's attacking us -- the moms and pops of this world who keep all of America afloat?  The Chamber, and all of it's members, represents everyday Americans -- and now he's basically accusing us of illegal fundraising and distribution????  Are you kidding me?  Especially after the left has looked high and low to find proof -- and can't find it.

And why does the left want to control everything anyway?  Who cares who, where, what, when really -- all is fair in love and war, and may the best team win.  Let's get back to arguing on the merits, shall we? (oh that's right, you can't, so sad)

Not to mention, let's see just who fills the coffers of the DNC or the online donations of a president elect -- who has no idea how to use a play station or mp3 -- but somehow manages scoring millions via the Internet during his campaign?   How about union dues being commingled into a candidate of a certain age and destiny, without permission or approval from all of it's members -- or the donations made under the cover of darkness through auxiliary entities spanning the globe via the Center for American Progress, or the Tides Foundation, or any of the umpteen organizations of George Soros?

Yeah, let's follow the money trail, shall we?

Speaking of hitting rock bottom desperation, out here in California, we are about to enter the magical mystery tour come November 2, with legalizing pot -- oh, like it's for all the money we'll make in taxation, making it quite possible to, overnight, have the potential to solve all our worries as if all of our prayers our answered.  right. and if you believe that, I have a hundred acres on the side of a hill ripe for the picking.

Oh, but just who has already jumped into the fray?  The Teamsters.  The unions have already struck a deal with the medical marijuana facilities up and down the state; when Californians get dooped in three weeks -- and by all appearances seems we will-- our deficit funding fix will have already been taking over by the legal and highly organized crime of The Teamsters; only fitting for an idea steeped in controversy from the start -- suffice it to say, I sense this marriage seals a certain fate.  Mayday Mayday, we've been hit ...Good bye, from California, for we are doomed.

And really, why should the collective unionized labor party win on this one -- why can't we leave this to the principles of Free Enterprise and let everybody have a piece of the pie, vying for supremacy and market share?  If we're going to do it, why not get the junk bond on Wall Street and let everybody have a crack at it? But I digress.

Just in case anyone out there really cares, the idea behind Prop. 19 may have had all the good intentions in the world (they always do, you know), but it is simply flawed through and through; the measure does not mitigate the actual use of the law on behalf of the State of California -- matter of fact, it allows for a somewhat patchwork of controls, through localized efforts and bounties, without real state functionality and organization.  In simple simon scenarios across the board, the state gets nada, nothing, zilch, no dinero.

and if that wasn't enough to make you choke on the smoke and mirrors, then how about the lack of foresight of the unintended consequences --the ability for every resident to grow 25 sq. feet of the weed, or the inability for employers to fire an employee under the influence -- or even give a drug test upon hire, or how about the blatant oversight of controlling who gets behind the wheel of a car, after they've inhaled, there's no legislation to guide or process this kind of under the influence whatsoever.  And, of course, what about the kids?  And go figure, we can no longer TALK/TEXT while driving, as it's illegal, but go ahead and hit that bong before getting behind the wheel, that's cool...

But now here's the real kicker -- we have to keep in mind, Marijuana is still considered an illegal drug under federal law; what happens if California pulls rank on this one?

The thing is, according to little old G (and hear me out..), I hope we do (even though I really don't) pass this idiotic measure.

WHY G?

It will give precedence, again, for the actions of a state to test the federal government -- like as in Arizona.  Will The Fed swoop in and say, no, you can't trump a federal law -- not that Arizona did -- they only aligned with it ( ...details reek-tales...smoke this ) But will the justice department come raging into CA armed with subpoenas and lawsuits as they did in AZ?

No matter if they do or don't, me thinks we are on the verge of a political, economical, astronomical firestorm on our hands.  We will be in the courts fighting this one, from the inside out, from the outside in, it doesn't really matter; as if California didn't already have enough to flit away our dreams and future, we could go bankrupt on simply the improper vetting of a law gone bad, even before we've had a chance, "in theory", to make a few extra bucks...after union vigs and all. (oh, and did I mention, everyday gang activity would only be further heightened, fully exasperated and lethal enemy number two all along the way. good times.)

Nothing good can possibly come out of the foxhole looking good when starting out with all the elements of something bad: bad behavior, reckless accusations, total turnabout is fair play, low blows and high throws, or just plum stupidity in action,  -- whether it's an idea, a miscalculation of election days, making up stories about improper foreign money, or legalizing a crazy good head spinning mind-alternating substance; nothing good can come out.

And that folks, just comes naturally -- kinda like oregano -- seeded under the law of cause and effect; any resemblance to a federal or state law is simply a coincidence -- while it invariably has nothing to do with what we get in return.

Oh my.
Sometimes the only thing we can do in a foxhole is pray...let's leave it at that today.

Make it a Good Day, G

Dear America,

This was found at the end of  Star Parker's weekly column this morning (read it!):

"1957, Golda Meir, a future prime minister of Israel, spoke at the National Press Club in Washington. She said, unfortunately prophetically, 'Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us'."

We acheive world peace when we choose world peace.

Star's column -- which usually never fails me -- lends insight on a number of things, whether it be from the teachings of a man who recently past away (Art Linkletter) to the long and winding road in a land called Gaza;  our life is simply made best when our philosphy comes from a place of peace -- while the gift of something we like to call hindsight usually tells us, "things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things turn out."

I don't personally know Star -- I wish I did; for she is a powerful voice of community in relation to all things.

She is currently running for congress in the Los Angeles area, Long Beach specifically, and including areas you may have heard of before -- horrendous political, racial and economic areas, like Compton -- otherwise known as the 37th Congressional District --  unfortunately, a district not my own.  But do you think that would keep me away? not.

She is actually running unopposed in this primary (wonder why that is, perhaps it's because it is home to one of the scariest districts in the country... or maybe, cuz she's a triple threat to anyone who would dare, just sayin') --  the only one seemingly in her way now is a long term democrat to beat on down the road come November.

Anyone want to help her out?  For let me tell you, LA could really use all the help that they can get right now.  Go to:  http://www.starparkerforcongress.com/

Tomorrow is a big day for California.

As tea party members set out to rock the boat, and vote, tomorrow, as Israel continues to protect it's waters against Hamas, as everyday people venture out to make the best of the way things turn out, let us stop and give thanks that we live in America.

And more than ever, that christens us with the obligation to come together to protect and honor America in every way we can. We must muster the same faith, the same strength, as what culminated  in Boston so long ago -- the tea must be thrown overboard, while the lawlessness of intruders in government, threatening our long term peace, must be defeated.

It's a simple as that.

And that's all I got to say about that (say it like Forrest Gump).
Even though I'm just one girl, I've gotta run and go do my part to save California now.

Make it a Good Day, G

and if it ain't so good, make the best of it, whatever way that looks, whatever floats your own boat...do it for Art, do it for Star, do it for Gaza, do it for America, but most important, do it for U.

And thank you, Star, for always inspiring me to be a better girl living in community with others.
