It's About Lines Drawn Firm and Lines Made Up out of Thin Air Thing

Dear America,

he was simply answering a question -- basically, somebody asked him how on earth are you going to prevail over a big-government powerhouse, like President Obama?  [and it happened MONTHS ago, in MAY, what does that tell you?]

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what,” Romney told a past fundraising audience, his remarks recorded on a video obtained and reported yesterday by Mother Jones magazine.  "All right — there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them"...going on to add..."[they] believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, you name it."

They will vote for this president no matter what. The president starts off with 48, 49… he starts off with a huge number…. These are people who pay no income taxes — 47 percent of Americans pay no income taxes. Our message of lower taxes doesn’t connect,”  Romney tells his audience. “What I have to do is convince the 5 to 10 percent in the center that are independents, that are thoughtful and look at voting one way or the other."

honesty.

pure un-edited honesty...well, oops, well now that would be a lie.  It was a wee bit edited.

In any event, he is absolutely right.

Just as Obama will never 'reach me' -- or connect with me on a policy level -- Romney admits he has already lost the die-hard big government entitlement fans.  He wasn't speaking about Medicare or  Medicaid or Social Security -- he was referring to those who "believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, you name it [the free cell phone crowd]."

He was calling attention to the contentious divide already in motion, having been fully orchestrated by the current president of the United States between those who pay taxes and those who don't.

Romney's point:
"You have a clear choice in this election. The president has a clear point of view that believes government builds it and that we should have a more and more government-centered society that plays a more intrusive role in our lives telling us what kind of health care we can have, how much of our money do we make and of course taking credit for the things we build. My own view is very different. My view is that free people pursuing their dreams, building free enterprises, taking risks, employing one another lifts us as a society, helps us have good jobs. I know what it takes to create that kind of entrepreneurship. Our economy runs on freedom, not on government and I will restore the freedom that makes America strong."

indeed.

The Left fails to recognize that President Obama has written me off -- he doesn't spend energy trying to win me over.  He knows I'm a gone-er.  He knows that big government entitlement programs and stimulus and quantitative easing and bail outs and free abortions and stifling our domestic oil/gas production and piling on the unfunded liabilities into oblivion and so on and so on does not appeal to me.

Matter of fact, I think women should be fully responsible for their own bodies, and the choices they make, accordingly.

The president loathes me in every way.  He may not say it out loud -- but that is what he thinks.

He thinks that because of me, and people like me, he's got to work twice as hard to get re-elected; and to that end, he doesn't speak to me...pretty much ever.

I fall into a category outside of his peripheral vision -- being neither African-American or Hispanic -- not a supporter of Planned Parenthood being funded by the taxpayers at all; I don't believe the "National Organization of Women" includes me;  and I consider "Code Pink" more my favorite lipstick shade than a radicalized women's operation hellbent on instigating more noise and mayhem than creating actual good.

I believe a moment of silence, for prayer and reflection, should be brought back to schools -- along with character building, morality, and ethics curriculum all the way through twelfth grade.  I believe teachers should be fired for criminal behavior on the spot, not held and paid full salary in some kind of rubber-romper-room; and outside of criminal wrong doing, simply held fully accountable in every way for the quality of teaching, the year in and year out performance on the job.

yeah, I believe, a woman can pay out of pocket for her own birth control -- and even if money is tight Sandra Fluke, I believe in a woman's power to find a creative solution to absolutely everything.  But that is neither here nor there in this moment, in these times.

Running deeper than all that is my belief that America is not better off.

Our credit rating continues to be downgraded; while our economic competitiveness around the world has fallen for the fourth straight year in a row.

We continue to implement ideas centered around big government coming in to save the day -- printing monopoly money, overzealous stimulus spending, ignoring the rising national debt, implementing a brand new entitlement in Health Care -- and thereby allowing government to control 1/6th of our economy,  with much of our "hope and change" coming by way of Executive Order, rather than lawful process.

And given the latest wave of violence in the Middle East, we don't even have the time to address the whole foreign policy hot mess this administration has got us into -- friend or foe, ally or enemy, some lines dating back to '67, are all smudged at best.  [did you know the Armistice Day of 1967 was June 4th?   the now infamous apology tour of the president has centered on remarks made in Cairo, June 4, 2009 READ IT again today, now with the added perspective of the  last four years having played out the way they have played out...It's like the difference between LINES Drawn Firm and LINES made up out of thin air.]

You see, I am one of the president's 47%; and every single day he ignores me -- rattles me -- ridicules me -- and most days leaves me feeling chewed up and spit back out.

In order to change America for the better -- Romney must appeal not only his base, but more important to the Independents.  He needs to gain attraction and approval from those who ARE still on the fence and haven't made up their mind.  And in the process, let's face it -- he will never win over the liberal die-hards who simply want a free lunch, fully content with a nanny state packing it.

Romney is speaking to the whole of America who wants prosperity to rise for ALL  Americans -- not by divesting our true wealth as a republic, or by dividing us into groups by race, religion, sex, economic status, or anything else.  He wants to lift us all out of despair, for these are desperate times.

It's funny -- the Obama Administration didn't speak up on behalf of "Free Speech" until Romney called them out on it; the Obama Administration didn't speak up on behalf of China's suspect trade manipulation until Romney called them out on it (September 13th).

And about that thing called Trade,  here's a good read from a great producer of fresh air -- The Heritage Foundation.

The Obama Administration (September 17th) has come back answering to Romney twice now in the last two weeks.  In my book, that's two for two. [ ooh -- and one more -- Obama was perfectly happy with reading his Intelligence Report Briefings before Romney started sitting down for them....now guess who is coming to the table?....under pressure....]

Here's Romney, responding to the President:
"President Obama's credibility on this issue has long since vanished. I will not wait until the last months of my presidency to stand up to China, or do so only when votes are at stake."

that's Romney --

that's Romney -- not talking to me or to the other 47% --

that's Romney  -- talking to the INDEPENDENTS.

get over it.

He believes in AMERICA and he wants to win.

And no matter what the media lets you believe -- it is Obama who is on the defensive; it is Obama on his heels; it is Obama wavering on the ideals that made America great; it is Obama dividing us;  it is Obama answering to Romney every step of the way now.

And this upcoming election is about a choice.  Here are your options:

"You have a clear choice in this election. The president has a clear point of view that believes government builds it and that we should have a more and more government-centered society that plays a more intrusive role in our lives telling us what kind of health care we can have, how much of our money do we make and of course taking credit for the things we build. My own view is very different. My view is that free people pursuing their dreams, building free enterprises, taking risks, employing one another lifts us as a society, helps us have good jobs. I know what it takes to create that kind of entrepreneurship. Our economy runs on freedom, not on government and I will restore the freedom that makes America strong."

I'm sure one day -- we'll look back on these days and just laugh....

Make it a Good Day, G
