It's a Fitness/litmus Test Thing

Dear America,

"Yes.  I think the republican nominee is unfit to serve as president."

funny
considering the source...
this off-putting, cutting remark is coming from a sitting president -- and during a press conference, and while alongside the Prime Minister of Singapore, of all things unfit for the moment.  How uncouth, really.  How unfit of an American president, that being a president for all Americans; to strategically intervene with the elections as such, and with such cunning nonchalance, uh uh, like a fox.

Never you mind the pathetic answer from the other side -- the lying, conniving, global elitist vying for the highest office of the land...Hillary Clinton.  Never you mind her inept handling of the entire State Department -- under his watch, by the way.  Between compromising national security with transmitting confidential information via email,  use of a private server constructed around an extra toilet in a small Denver loft, umpteen lies stacking up to the American people, the Benghazi tragedy, the loss of every gain in Iraq -- and amounting to an ISIS revolution.  We have evidence of ON THE JOB UNFITNESS everywhere she wanders, even in the ether, and everyone is okay with that?

And don't get me started on this news, just this morning.
Meg, Meg, meg meg meg meg.  oh meg.  you disappointment me greatly.

Now who is she but some failed contender to be govanah of california?  And a wonky republican establishment one, at best.  While there was a time when the old gthing here was poised to vote for her! eegads!  Are you really this stupid, Meg?  Love him or hate him, Trump is the candidate for the GOP, and if for some reason it pains you to say anything kind about the guy, STFU!   All the while - just how do you get all the way over the wall to voting for HER??  Seriously. Meg?  No, really -- how do you get to Hillary if you are indeed a "conservative" and  "republican," inquiring minds wanna know.  (no,not really;  run MDM as in, Meg Doesn't Matter)

Meg said something like this, (as this girl quotes the quote via the New York Times):

“Time and again history has shown that when demagogues have gotten power or come close to getting power, it usually does not end well,” Ms. Whitman said. She asserted that Mr. Trump had already “undermined the character of the nation.”

Isn't that exactly who we have IN OFFICE right now?  HELLO?!

Obama was merely a wee little one term Senator -- a guy who captured America's heart way back in 2004, during the Democratic convention way back when, and who, at the time, elevated the conversation with saying things like....

"Now even as we speak, there are those who are preparing to divide us, the spin masters and negative ad peddlers who embrace the politics of anything goes.
"Well, I say to them tonight, there's not a liberal America and a conservative America; there's the United States of America.
"There's not a black America and white America and Latino America and Asian America; there's the United States of America.
"The pundits, the pundits like to slice and dice our country into red states and blue States: red states for Republicans, blue States for Democrats. But I've got news for them, too. We worship an awesome God in the blue states, and we don't like federal agents poking around our libraries in the red states.
"We coach little league in the blue states and, yes, we've got some gay friends in the red states.
"There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq, and there are patriots who supported the war in Iraq.
"We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America."

DEMAGOGUERY is demagoguery.   Obama was making his appeals and striking a cord.

BUT more important --  this isn't the kind of president we got now...now is it?  I might also add, it seems more like the exact opposite, but I digress.

Now, by definition - a demagogue is a leader who obtains power by means of impassioned appeals to the emotions and prejudices of the populace.

And since we are having this conversation, isn't every candidate a demagogue to  some degree?

We -- as constituents -- decide what message we relate to, and what issues seem to be our greatest concerns; once we establish that much, we expect the candidate who in fact wins our hearts and minds, to follow through in action, implementing the appeals voiced during the political campaign with the same spirit.  With unwavering integrity to the original message -- you know, the one that fulfilled all the little people's dreams -- the expectations of the people, for the people, are real and become a mandate of sorts.

And yet, we the people are toyed with every day, every four years, getting worse and worse as the demagoguery and skulduggery digs deeper and meaner, as all diplomacy and civility goes out the door -- the political lines have been drawn.  And it's ugly.

It was only four years later, when a young, and perfectly unfit specimen for the job, ran for president in 2008.  Even though he caught everyone's attention back at the DNC convention, he had some work to do.  And this is when a young Barack Hussein Obama began crafting his appeals to the people all over again...I mean, he was up against HER before he was up against McCain (ugh).

And immediately setting his sites upon blaming the previous administration for everything, Obama said things like this:

“The problem is, is that the way Bush has done it over the last eight years is to take out a credit card from the Bank of China in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from $5 trillion dollars for the first 42 presidents — number 43 added $4 trillion dollars by his lonesome, so that we now have over $9 trillion dollars of debt that we are going to have to pay back — $30,000 for every man, woman and child.
That’s irresponsible. It’s unpatriotic."

A guy with no experience on the job, a community organizer, with questionable associations with Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers, and a history of following anti-American professors, mentors and activists,..and then, what does he do -- besides continuing to blame Bush even into his second term -- Obama adds TEN TRILLION dollars to the national debt -- now a shameful 19.5 TRILLION dollars (not accounting for the over 100 TRILLION -- yes, that is 100 trillion dollars -- in UNFUNDED liabilities; destroyed one-sixth of our economy through peddling lies to the American people on being able to keep our doctors, etc. etc. by the unlawful administration, and without even one vote from republicans, in Obamacare; botched a gun running scheme with Fast and Furious; lost every gain in the Middle East; turned Libya into a hot mess; undermined our immigration laws through Executive overreach; disenfranchised every police force across the nation over the course of nearly eight years; lost four American lives in Benghazi and went to sleep (had to get his beauty rest before flying out to California for a campaign stop) and then masterminded a lie to cover up what really happened; told Medvedev he "would have more flexibility after election" on a live mic;

oh I could go on and on.

and I will.

What is the latest?  Now talk about unpatriotic....irresponsible....being totally UNFIT for the office of the president of the Untied States.  yup, that was on purpose.

It's a biggie, so hold onto your benjamins --

...Wooden pallets stacked with euros, Swiss francs and other currencies were flown into Iran on an unmarked cargo plane, according to these officials. The U.S. procured the money from the central banks of the Netherlands and Switzerland, they said...
Senior U.S. officials denied any link between the payment and the prisoner exchange. They say the way the various strands came together simultaneously was coincidental, not the result of any quid pro quo.
But U.S. officials also acknowledge that Iranian negotiators on the prisoner exchange said they wanted the cash to show they had gained something tangible...
Meanwhile, U.S. officials have said they were certain Washington was going to lose the arbitration in The Hague, where Iran was seeking more than $10 billion, and described the settlement as a bargain for taxpayers.
Iranian press reports have quoted senior Iranian defense officials describing the cash as a ransom payment. The Iranian foreign ministry didn’t respond to a request for comment.
The $400 million was paid in foreign currency because any transaction with Iran in U.S. dollars is illegal under U.S. law. Sanctions also complicate Tehran’s access to global banks.
Oh, so the UNFIT president, currently in office, "skirted the law" in every way, not even alerting Congress, and paid a ransom, and paid a handsome one, at that.  And what's with it being the first installment?   Paying Iran interest?  Seriously?  Just who is the caretaker of American interests if it is not this administration?

And more important, didn't our US dollars -- the ones sent to the Central Banks -- in fact, FUND the indefensible fund?  Is this not just mincing reality with a magic bunny stuffed with funny money?

Are we all on a reality TV show right now?

Oh my, this president is proving he's UNFIT every day!

Oh big brother.  Every day, we all wake up to stunning news and the mainstream media is so aligned with the mischief, the ideology, the agenda, all they really want to do is bury Trump right now, eliminate him entirely.  [And isn't it just a shame the Donald helps them pick up the shovel half the time...oh donald, donald, donald.  Known and Unknown,  Read it.  When you're done with that, go to Liberty and Tyranny; and when finished with that,, there's probably a good Ann Coulter book that I'm missing here; then, hit The 5000 Year Leap for the essential fine tuning; and when you're done with all that, perhaps finally get to The U.S. Constitution.  teehee]

You know who needs an intervention --- besides Trump?

Barack Hussein Obama
Hillary Clinton
Meg Whitman...

"Black Lives Matter" see the brand spanking new list of demands...(just when you thought it was just about the police...)

Oh my.  Let's just call it, the entire United States of America.

Oh hell, how about we just start that intervention with America first.

I'll start with myself -- right now.  Time to get fit, and be fit, and talk fit -- think of it as a fitness/litmus test to be the best American and model citizen I can be, every day.  And not just by lip service, but in all ways.  and may God bless us one and all.  This is essentially a test we all, individually and collectively, need to pass with honors.

Next...

It's an Administration by Broken Window Thing

Dear America,

yeah, it's been a few days.  shoot me.

would you believe you haven't missed a thing all summer long?

right.  what am I trying to do, pull the wool over your own eyes?

Of Ferguson and Fallujah, Gaza, Martha's Vineyard --  along with anywhere along the U.S. and Mexico border -- stories of the unconscionable challenging order were everywhere...all summer long.

Of course, my heart and soul was busy tending to the unleashing of an era -- securing my girl in a place that requires a day's travel, over the purple mountains majesty and across the fruited plains, just to see her pretty face.

But it's safe place, more or less.  It's a place that exudes a fundamental and exemplary direct opposition of a place in chaos...

the University.

Broken windows?  None.

So -- in other words -- this little mama can breathe, anyway.

But let's get on with the day, shall we?

Now, starting with going backwards just a wee bit...

Beginning with responsive questions after the president's statement on August 28th, going something like this:

"Thank you, Mr. President.  Do you regret not moving on ISIS earlier?"...and ending with this one, "What makes you think that forming a new government will change the situation? "

...Keep in mind we had been in communications with the Iraqi government for more than a year indicating that we saw significant problems in the Sunni areas.  Prime Minister Maliki was not as responsive perhaps as we would have liked to some of the underlying political grievances that existed at the time...
The problem we have had consistently is a Sunni population that feels alienated from Baghdad and does not feel invested in what’s happening, and does not feel as if anybody is looking out for them...
As I’ve said before -- I think I said in the previous press conference -- our military is the best in the world.  We can route ISIS on the ground and keep a lid on things temporarily.  But then as soon as we leave...
And part of our message to the entire region is this should be a wake-up call to Sunni,to Shia -- to everybody -- that a group like ISIS is beyond the pale; that they have no vision or ideology beyond violence and chaos and the slaughter of innocent people.  And as a consequence, we’ve got to all join together -- even if we have differences on a range of political issues -- to make sure that they’re rooted out.

Being clear as a bell -- describing ISIS -- "-- that a group like ISIS is beyond the pale; that they have no vision or ideology beyond violence and chaos and the slaughter of innocent people."

I don't remember much between the headlines over the last couple of months, but I do remember this.

This made my skin crawl from my head to my toes.

If we really wanted to mince words, we could immediately accuse the president of using a phrase that dates back to 1791, and one that for some people, may find offensive.  At a place called phrases.org, "beyond the pale" is further scrutinized for the modern world, and gives us historic background:

"Catherine the Great created the Pale of Settlement in Russia in 1791. This was the name given to the western border region of the country, in which Jews were allowed to live. The motivation behind this was to restrict trade between Jews and native Russians. Some Jews were allowed to live, as a concession, 'beyond the pale'."
That is fascinating, huh?  I never knew that.

But let's not dwell.

Where I got stuck was the president's claim, "that they have no vision or ideology beyond violence and chaos and the slaughter of innocent people."

And I thought to myself, with pins and needles ripping out my eyeballs.... wow, Mr.President, way to sympathize with the Islamic Extremists.  No vision?  No ideology?  Seriously?

Who's fooling who?

Ah but the differences in the "range of political issues" at home would not allow you to sit with that claim for long, could it Mr. President?

But it must have hurt -- for you came out looking more worse for wear than when you started, didn't you?  [I know, who could have known?]

Just for you today,  my fellow American inquiring minds...There's more! as the plot and the stories and the politics thickens.  And if you will, allow me to make it as painless as possible; let me give you the crib notes first:

"From “degrade and destroy” to “a manageable problem.” In the same press conference. Has Obama’s mission truly changed – or was this yet another example of mixed messages from the President of the United States?"

[If you have the time to read more about the contradictions of a presidency, go here for the full  detail.]

The thing is, what I really set out for you to read today was printed in the Wall Street Journal (August 19th) -- coming midstream of my summer retreat.

On the Opinion page, providing a Global View by Bret Stephens-- it's titled, Of Ferguson and Fallujah.

It's really good.

But if for some reason that asks of you too much -- let me cut to the chase and go to his conclusion:

This is a case study of allowing neighborhoods to decay and disorder to fester; of doing things reactively, not preventively. Where would we be in Iraq today if Mr. Obama hadn't simply walked and looked away for the past three years?
The answer to disorder is to provide order. To engage community leaders. To enforce norms. To reassure good citizens that their security is being looked after and it's not every man for himself. To maintain a visible presence that deters would-be lawbreakers from committing criminal acts. To prevent bad people from acting badly, and to punish them swiftly when they do.
This is how a successful police force like the NYPD works. And it's how a competent foreign policy should operate. Bill Bratton knows his job—which is more than can be said of the Keystone cops in Ferguson, or at the White House

It's the difference between a Ronald Reagan foreign policy and a Barack Obama's.

It's the difference between the direct and indirect, seen and unseen, contrasts of ideology and vision  (be it in policy, in reality, in strength -- be it at home or abroad)  -- going beyond the pale of an American president.

It's unforgivable, deplorable. And totally unacceptable.  And it just might all add up to an impeachable offence --  treason.

ISIS, ISIL, tomayto, tomahto.  They know something that the majority of American people fail to see and intend to use that to their every advantage.

And about our border issues?   Again, our stance is not one that clings to order, but disorder.

The consequences -- whether intended or not -- will be telling.

Damn the broken windows...

[shaking your head?  then you need reread Of Ferguson and Fallujah if that seems totally disconnected].

And then someday,
out of the pages of history, ethics, politics, and providing for a common defense, our children's children will be reading all about it in school [probably in Spanglish].

Make it a Good Day, G

Turning over my last thought to Bret Stephens:
 "Broken windows stresses
 that endemic criminality
is not primarily a function
of the usual 'root causes'
 -- poverty,
racism,
bad schools,
broken families
and so on.
The real problem is disorder itself."

It's a Variety of Things Unfitting and Unsettling from This Little Miss Thing

Dear America,

humanitarian awards and nobel peace prizes, my ass

[See most recent, Ambassador for Humanity Award, presented by Steven Speilberg, in LA, last night @the Horn residence for a private party AND democratic fundraiser... "Tickets to the event started $10,000 per person, including dinner and a photo op. Those donating $32,400 per couple got listed as “sponsors” and could take part in a VIP reception. Those donating $64,800 per couple were listed as “hosts” and could take part in a “VIP clutch."  -- ...get all the scoop @Variety, here]

i'm not seeing it  (i mean, he was nominated for the peace prize just two weeks in -- seriously?); as such, i had to highlight this load of caca in pink just to stomach the leaps and turns of good faith.

but more than that, a president getting a trophy for doing what he is supposed to do?

for standing up for something just because it's the right thing to do?

getting a trophy for participating on the right side of life and liberty?

he is the president for pete's sake...don't all  American presidents do this?

yup

and it's going to be THAT kind of day.

And why so jaded G so early on the day, pray tell?

For he's compassionate to a point; he's high and mighty and noble and pleased only when he gets his way; he jumps to conclusions only when said conclusions align with that certain something that is also  fully complaint with his agenda; for he's transparent ...as he promised....when he wants to be, how he wants to be, and when he wants to be, and only when it's in his favor.

Transparent, indeed.

I can see you, all of you, Mr. President.

[and truth be told, if i really did want to see him -- given he's running around San Diego somewhere today -- i really could catch a glimpse of the shining political puppet of genius]

but i don't; for i'm sitting around in my pj's doing THIS

anywho,

what was I talking about?

oh right.

now back to the Variety piece...

here's some presidential party favors fresh from the Horn's backyard...and i quote Ted Johnson quoting Him :

Obama warned of “a self-fulfilling prophesy” during a midterm election year where “people who have the most at stake in a government that works opt out of the system; those who don’t believe government can do anything are empowered; gridlock reigns, and we got this downward spiral of even more cynicism and more dysfunction. And we have to break out of that cycle and that’s what this election all about,” Obama said, in remarks that lasted about 15 minutes.

He added that his travels to other countries have led him not to “buy this notion purported here that that somehow America is on a downward trajectory. By every indicator we are better positioned than any country on earth to succeed in this knowledge economy in the 21st century. But what is absolutely true is that if we don’t make good choices we could decline, and we’re not going to make good choices unless we break out of this cycle in which dysfunction breeds cynicism, and we have to break out of it. And that happens during midterms. That does not happen during presidential elections.
which is funny, isn't it?

FOR -- after SIX years as president and adding a couple more if you go ahead and include his "presence" in the Senate  -- HE IS WASHINGTON.  He is to blame for leading this nation during this era of  "dysfunction."

Who is he trying to kid?

Oh that's right; he's talking to his marry band of hollywood left wing loons.

Only with this audience could he get away with talking in circles and come off reasonably coherent, as everyone gives way to a respectable round of ovation...

"people who have the most at stake in a government that works opt out of the system; those who don’t believe government can do anything are empowered; gridlock reigns, and we got this downward spiral of even more cynicism and more dysfunction. And we have to break out of that cycle and that’s what this election all about.....But what is absolutely true is that if we don’t make good choices we could decline, and we’re not going to make good choices unless we break out of this cycle in which dysfunction breeds cynicism, and we have to break out of it,"  He says.

what?

i'm sorry, was that our president speaking?  Did he not have a mobile teleprompter on his phone?

[just can't wait for SNL to imitate life with that snippet]

The real thing is, Washington under THIS administration is functioning just fine. too fine, in fact.

There is not one thing going wrong for THEM, if you know what I mean.

Ted Cruz has the idea... see his report on just how much "the challenges out there remain daunting and we have a Washington that’s not working”  (according to Obama)  (yeah, right, according to T and G).

For Washington is functioning via the Executive Branch, the Department of Justice, the Department of Land Management, the IRS, the Fed...shall I keep going?  just fine and without any help from congress.

Thank you, Ted.   See HERE.   [And honors go out to The Daily Caller and Matt Drudge for the assist.]

According to Cruz  (and he's not standing alone):

“President Obama has openly defied [rule of law] by repeatedly suspending, delaying, and waiving portions of the laws that he is charged to enforce. When President Obama disagreed with federal immigration laws, he instructed the Justice Department to cease enforcing the laws. He did the same thing with federal welfare law, drug laws, and the federal Defense of Marriage Act,” Cruz wrote. “In the more than two centuries of our nation’s history, there is simply no precedent for the White House wantonly ignoring federal law and asking others to do the same."

did you get into that and scroll down to page six?

ass-stonishing.

oh, and BTW, we're just getting started.

My

pièce de résistance on the day....drum roll please:

THIS, from the Wall Street Journal's Daniel Henninger...
 i think i love you....

Obama Unleashes the Left.  indeed

This is how it begins:
In the U.S., the politics of the left versus the right rolls on with the predictability of traffic jams at the George Washington Bridge. It's a lot of honking. Until now. All of a sudden, the left has hit ramming speed across a broad swath of American life—in the universities, in politics and in government. People fingered as out of line with the far left's increasingly bizarre claims are being hit and hit hard

....you don't say....

Is that not the truth, or what?

And today, allow me, G, to highlight just how embedded into the system this stuff really goes...from Henninger's post:

It's obvious that the far left has decided there are no longer constraints on what it can do to anyone who disagrees with it. How did this happen? Who let the dogs out?

The answer is not university presidents. The answer is that the Obama administration let the dogs out.

The trigger event was an agreement signed last May between the federal government and the University of Montana to resolve a Title IX dispute over a sexual-assault case...
Tease alert.

That's just a little something something from the middle --  you will have to read the entire piece for yourself.   But don't fret, for it's well worth your time.  [And, if you really got the time, here's the press release on 'the list' of Universities being carefully guarded, watched, micro-managed,  by this administration....]

Dysfunctional, my sweet petunia derriere

Every cornerstone of this nation --

Everywhere we turn --  the conservative half of the country is being attacked, mocked, victimized, vilified,  pummeled into the ground, SUED [you will really like that link too]-- and basically deemed, labeled, and shipped on a slow boat  to China  totally insignificant.  Worthless,   Dirt.  Lower than dirt.

[G note:  I would never attempt to shut down the liberal mindset and go on a rampage delivering high level personal attacks just because I don't agree with it.  Never.  How the Left could be so intimidated and affected by alternative ways to govern, or rather, not to govern, these fine United States is beyond my realm of understanding.  Speaking of Civil Rights -- we all have a voice.]

All the while, THIS administration is functioning on all cylinders, with a mainstream media hypnotically going through the motions, virtually fallen all asleep from the hum of the deafening white noise, chock-full with the corruption of power and the lure of perpetuating ideological lies.  With a media empowered from within and without, fully supportive of the little engine that could, as if the steaming locomotive on high speed rail is unseen; it chooses propaganda over the truth; it sells a Utopian pipe dream over the fundamental, self-reliant, rugged individualism this nation was originally intended and pre-destined by the real conductor, Divine Providence, of course.

There is no cause for alarm; for the plan is not only in motion  and Organizing for America, but it's working.

There is no need to sound the red alert, Mr. President, so please make the little Mrs. happy and stop campaigning  -- unless, of course, you happen to be one of the few, the proud, the 47%, who are NOT  aligned with THIS.  For then, and only then,  duh, let the alarms blare.   For this wily, progressive, oppressive, controlling, regulating, enterprising snuffing, regime currently reigning as if America were a kingdom has got to go somewhere where the sun don't shine.  This regime has not brought peace, unity, or anything of the sort; worshiping at the alter of "the ends justify the means," this administration has done nothing more than divide us, one by one, piece by piece.   But of course maybe it's just me.

oh i'm sorry,

did I not give you all enough to read?

oh, my bad, maybe next time.

Make it a Good Day, G

 In Epi-blaaaahg:

Did you not catch the irony of that whole
Speilberg --Holocaust-- Award -- Obama thing?

From the Variety,
Obama told the crowd at the Century Plaza Hotel that with Spielberg’s “masterful” movie in which “we were reminded that the Holocaust was not a matter of distant history or abstract horror. The voices, the memories of survivors became immediate, and intimate, became a part of all of is.”

Which is hilarious..
you know...
given the current
Common Core question under fire --
was the Holocaust real, was it?  was it?
 Read THIS.
Just one more good thing coming out of this administration. yay.

It's a Things Fall Apart Thing

Dear America,

stunning.
apparently --  on average -- Americans drink a disgusting 44 gallons of soda a year.

That's nearly a gallon a week! of this syrupy, seductive, seltzer mindlessly being consumed and rotting our bodies from the core. [oh and btw, that is apparently down from a whopping 58 gallons a year, considered to be the case back in 1998...ew]

Albeit some of us have cut back a wee bit after considering the myriad of health hazards all for the joy of a fleeting sugar buzz over ice, but fair to say -- far too many of us still don't think anything of it.

Which brings me to a revelation -- our quality of thought and choice of libation seems to coincide.

Who would have thought, right, that the new nectar of the Gods for the ages, young and old, would come in a carbonated 12 ounce can and grow into a rabid addiction greater than any religion.

Last Sunday -- Easter -- when watching my favorite preacher, Joel Osteen -- he once again thrilled me with a new perspective.  And I will be quick to explain, given attention span these days is about as long as a nano-second, a tweet, or a jingle...

In his usual charm, he says, basically -- and improvising with my usual flair -- Jesus wasn't all born in a manger just "to start a religion."  According to the Trinity, God became man so that WE could grow to be in relationship with Him, surely in the hope of being better humans.  Tapping into this Higher Power for rooting out our higher purpose, understanding a kinder, gentler way to connect and coexist with each other and ourselves, and certainly, to bring meaning to life itself, is at the very core of this relationship.

And it's like -- as in the way of Coca-Cola to the Kardashians -- leave it to man to ruin a good thing.

Isn't this always the case...

We take things too far.

We abuse the bounty.

We waste ourselves away, forgetting the art of moderation and self-control.

We take things to extremes, selfishly abandoning our unique ability to connect to a Spiritual Guidance so great and  so wonderful;  day after day after day, we allow our culture, our community of fellow humans -- not God -- to  dictate by default, without thinking two blinks about it.

From soda pop to reality television to music to how we adorn our bodies (or rather, how we don't adorn)... to who leads in our personal affairs, our health... education, our leaders in high places of government  -- it's all left to the manipulation of an ideology totally separate from upholding any connection to this spirit and relationship set forth with one life here on earth in Jesus. [And feel free to pick a religion, a way, a light, a relationship, of your own choice; as we all know, even Atheists: God is God.  Whoever you make your God, even if it comes with a glance in the mirror, is your God]

But that's just it.

Mankind -- in America, anyway -- has been invaded with a rogue  band of marauders, taking us further and further from the Divine Providence from which we came AND growing into an organized machine, now parading as the "evolved," and "intelligent," ever-so-conscious characters and social engineers centered upon a great -- but hands down, over the lips, down the hatch, totally ridiculous --  progressive experiment.  Mankind in America is not only drinking the kool-aid -- but drunk on love of self.

Over the years, isn't it funny how revelations come and go, and evolve even.

Having said that, here's to another morsel of magnificent proportion from my papa, and excavated from the Wall Street Journal, here: Two New Saints. Now What?  [And thank you, Dan Henninger.]

It's a good read.

Oh to venture down the road growing less and less traveled -- to discover our own sainthood, the exceptional byproduct at the core of being in relationship with something greater than ourselves, within the confines of this public domain, a place where seemingly only the salacious and syrupy survive.  How do we do that?   Now I'm no Saint -- but suffice it to say, day in and day out, this is proving to be quite the elusive endeavor the more evolved, and actualized, and modern, and human -- souped-up-on-sugar -- we get.

"Things fall apart; the center cannot hold."

"Many people discovered new gods in political causes. In the 1980s, the U.S. Catholic bishops conference worked tirelessly for a 'nuclear-weapons freeze.' Is anyone surprised that global warming in time became a premodern religious movement, obsessed with arcane dogmatics and eliminating the heretical Deniers? A defining event of this era of secular mysticism is the Obama administration saying the Little Sisters of the Poor must bring their charity hospitals into conformance with the state's beliefs on human reproduction."

And now back to the 44 gallons of soda, on average...it's a real thing.

It's a real stat.

And it's just one of the many symptoms defining our depression, our cultural condition.

Now what?

Make it a Good Day, G

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

Dear America,

the world going a little nuclear... and that is my rhyme and reason of the day.

Overreaction meets ignorance meets blame meets partisan politics meets the perfect storm for total destruction -- even in areas far, far away from the center, for all intents and purposes, of the end of time as we know it.

Here, in so cal, people are popping iodine like its ecstasy on steroids -- my girl comes home from school yesterday and tells me one of her friends is already on the stuff...I'm like, girl, if anyone offers you one, just say no; unless in immediate danger, that stuff can mess you up. But the scariest news on the day, is drugstores can't keep it on the shelves...here.

Insight from the Wall Street Journal:

"Our larger point is less about nuclear power than how we react as a society to inevitable disasters, both natural and man-made. Because a plane crashes, we don't stop flying. Because an oil rig explodes in the Gulf, we don't (or at least we shouldn't) stop drilling for oil. And because the Challenger space shuttle blew up, we didn't stop shuttle flights—though we do seem to have lost much of our national will for further manned space exploration. We should learn from the Japanese nuclear crisis, not let it feed a political panic over nuclear power in general."

I used to leave my office sometimes  making the off hand remark, 'see ya tomorrow, unless I get hit by a bus...'; but the reality is, it's kinda true.  As human beings, nothing is guaranteed -- even life itself; sometimes, things unforeseen and unimaginable happen, with absolutely no rhyme or reason;  the question is, is it acceptable to stop living life entirely when they do?

Do we shut down -- do we begin to live a life sheltered from all that may or may not come to harm us just because it can?

Or, do we live by faith -- making the connections to the greater life that surrounds us and all that remains, with a sense of grace and peace, trusting in our ability to transcend anything that might come our way -- and of course, assist others to do the same? (if you live in Japan, this is how they do it)

Some might think, based on the last few days of growing evidence, we, as a whole or in part, totally overreact; and then, with a look at the last few years...

How about the reaction to Gabrielle Giffords tragedy?

How about the reaction to the Gulf Oil Spill?

How about the reaction to Wisconsin leadership taking control of the fiscal budget?

How about the reaction to Michele Bachmann making an American history gaffe?

How about the reaction to GM -- AIG -- and failing to stand up to the risks of a free market?

How about the reaction -- 865 Billion Dollar reaction -- to unemployment?

How about the reaction to waste and fraud in health care meeting the uninsured, creating more waste and fraud, leaving even more uninsured (disguised by the Affordable Care Law, or simply, Obamacare?

How about the reaction to the nuclear emergency in Japan?

You know, reading some of the responses on Yahoo! to the Bachmann brouhaha is entertaining...besides a slurry of reviews claiming Bachmann (throwing in Palin, too) to be an idiot -- and various other things of ill repute...we had equally as many chiming in with a not so gentle reminder, that one day along the journey during the last presidential campaign, Obama said this:

“Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go.”

-Barack Obama in a campaign speech, Portland, Oregon, May 2008.

having also shared this little tidbit just a moment before...

Obama has as much trouble with numbers (and telling the truth) as he has with maps.

March 2007, on the anniversary of the Bloody Sunday march in Selma, Alabama, and using his "black Southern dialect" while speaking in a black Selma church, Obama claimed his parents united as a direct result of the civil rights movement:

“There was something stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Alabama, because some folks are willing to march across a bridge. So they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born.”

Obama was born in 1961. The Selma march took place in 1965.

(as a side-note: My kind of Marine)

Yet, do we see the left wing media running stories highlighting gaffes and blunders from the left with equal verve alongside the vicious contempt in response...hardly.  No, those stories just get buried, swept under the rug, drowned out by the intrepid and concerted rescue efforts stirring our immediate attention away, calling to us like a siren and leading us into an even greater disaster totally unaware -- hoodwinked by our own ignorance, negligent of placing all the facts in proper order, and giving way to a general sense and inability to think for ourselves (or the absence of just cutting somebody a little slack, as we all make mistakes).

more from Wall Street Journal:

"The paradox of material and technological progress is that we seem to become more risk-averse the safer it makes us. The more comfortable we become, the less eager we are to take the risks that are the only route to future progress. The irony is that one reason Japan has survived this catastrophic event as well as it has is its great material development and wealth.

Modern civilization is in the daily business of measuring and mitigating risk, but its advance requires that we continue to take risk. It would compound Japan's tragedy if the lesson America learns is that we should pursue the illusory and counterproductive goal of eliminating all risk"

Just because we spill a little milk from time to time, doesn't mean we should simply stop buying it altogether; that is just stupid, ignorant, irresponsible, and in a word,  lame.

How can we justify making long term security and prosperity risks BY CHOICE simply because of the occurrence of baseless, overreaction stemming from unforeseen circumstances, initiated by an unpredictable, incredible, natural disaster (in Japan's case, make that two) -- and thereby use a crisis to take political policy to a whole 'nother level of idiocy -- as if running government (and indirectly our lives and our world) from a perspective of total fear based legislation and regulation only because...it might happen tomorrow!

Yes, there is nothing wrong being prepared (I was a girl scout); but cutting off all possibility in the face of danger -- isn't that running counter-clockwise to the American way of life itself?

Life, itself, calls upon us to "continue to take risk" every day -- and be smart about it.

When my girl goes off to school every morning, I can't protect her every move; I can't predict whether she will be easily swayed by her peers to do something that may, or may not, hurt or harm her; I can't shelter her and keep her in her room safe and sound, keeping life and all the world around her, away.  If I should ever attempt to control the variables of her life like that, she would not be truly living, would she?

I mean, if the president was really concerned about our health, why not just take away cigarettes completely -- like in the same vein of his many feeble attempts of his administration to control what we eat... including advocating whether restaurants can use salt, and by adding huge taxation to soda and snack foods to curb our appetite through the pocketbook?  Acting as if, some people just can't make good choices on their own, so let's just take away the liberty for all.

SO with an oil disaster, we place a moratorium on new oil drilling -- even if THAT causes greater harm.

SO with the tragedy in Tucson, we place the blame on the gun versus the content of the character of the person who pulls the trigger -- even if THAT never truly solves the problem (and it never will).

Expanding and nurturing a nation honoring responsible citizens, those of good character, is what we need; one that teaches our children to protect each other from harm; one that engineers energy solutions that can withstand attacks by nature (and human nature) to the best of our abilities; one that minimizes risk, but maximizes growth, innovation, and fundamental change, making us all the more smarter and wiser and richer and self-sufficient (and not just in gold, but in Spirit too).

To steal a phrase commonly used by our president, 'it's not that complicated.'  More often than not, good people usually do good things all the way around...going full circle...'paying it forward' so to speak...some might even venture to say, reinforcing the possibility of creating a global force for good everywhere and often (and a GO Navy slogan to boot).  good in, makes a whole lot of good out...

And a nation built upon the content of our character we get -- what a concept, works like a charm (while unfortunately, the adverse is also true); this content of our character, our nation's moral code of honor, just so happens to be one of the many universal truths this country was founded on...somewhere in Lexington, or was it Concord, New Hampshire (lol)...of course, I would be remiss if I did not mention, an idea striving to move forward in free abandon, within the hearts and minds of all 57 states (lol)... albeit struggling to take hold, appearing a wee bit diluted and adulterated in the minds of a few.

what's that saying -- and erring on the side of caution here --  let's not throw the baby out with the bath water okay; and yet -- this administration would have us all believing otherwise, isn't it?  isn't it?  Indeed, if according to precedence meeting up with human nature, meeting up with an agenda, meeting up with fundamental transformation, meeting up with our permission (by our silence) tells us anything at all.

Make it a Good Day, G

play GTV ...just a click on Dear America...let us inspire each other to grow way more good and a whole lot less evil; expand the YES, with a whole lot less no; and BE the change you want the world to be.

and just in case you missed it, because it is March Madness after all, because the whole world is basically on fire...here's some news on the president's picks on b-ball.
