It's an America Getting Gang Banged by the Power Elite Thing

Dear America,

If I were to say, both parties are equally at fault, would I be sounding like I mean to say, BOTH parties are equally at fault?

In a flurry of forwarding emails sent to a group yesterday, my response was exactly that; and to be perfectly clear, I didn't even initiate the first one out of the gate -- I was simply the second or third voice, in a line of responses that went merrily on their way long into the afternoon.

But like I said, my main thrust of the debate focused on the fact that We the People have put people in office who have not been mindful, shall we say, of our money; We the People took our eye off the capital, allowing the government to grow and bulge and burst right before our eyes.

Anywho, moving right along here, in an instant  I was admired for making  a few salient points but with a big BUT dropped in at the end:  "but I'm afraid ideology is more important to many people than principles."  And immediately, I wasn't sure if it was directed towards me in particular, or simply making a general observation of the close-mindedness of "other people" who cling to their ideological fits of genius.

But then, this person used a Bill Maher line as the great equalizer:

"Bush and friends ordered a lot of food,
ate some of it and then left without paying the bill."

and then proceeded to say that under the Bush Administration, "the debt limit was raised 7 times"...

And again, allow me to scream from my mountaintop: BOTH PARTIES are equally at fault.

But how odd is that --  Bill Maher isn't exactly one to pussyfoot around his own political bias, for one; and for two, this person, apparently, clinging to his own ideology, chose a divisive, arrogant, explosive comedian who has no problem using political vitriol to fuel his audience and his success.  But maybe we can laugh it off  --

Have I mentioned this?....BOTH PARTIES....seem to be equally at fault.  And now, allow me to prove it.

For the last twenty years, we have had nearly equal participation from both parties, pretty much all the way down the line -- in the Oval Office 50/50 occupancy with the R's and D's; Congress, 50/50 control in R's and D's.

Now with regard to debt limit increases, through the legislative process under both parties (per the party controlling Congress, which creates the legislation and the annual budget resolutions) 50/50 -- five raises before 2006 and five after over the last ten years.

Under Bush, the first increase of the ceiling was in June of 2002 to roughly 6.4 Trillion (from 5.95 T); the second, December 2002; in February 2003, the Treasury took measures to avert an increase; but by May, Congress raised it; then the Treasury raised the ceiling  in Spring 2004; Congress raised it again by November of the same year; in 2005, Congress included a "debt limit (raising) reconciliation instruction"  within the Budget Resolution for 2006, but no action was taken until much later, when the actual limit was raised in March of 2006.  The Budget for FY 2008 was the final increase under Bush; this increase brought the debt limit to 9,815 Billion.

We then had a series of increases as part of nearly every major piece of legislation brought forward to supposedly "FIX us" -- beginning with the Housing & Recovery Act, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act, the TARP reinvestment Act, as well as the FY2010 Budget  Resolution -- taking us through the numbers from Bushie's nearly 10 Trillion to 12.104 Trillion, then to 13.029 Trillion, and then finally, to where it sits today, at 14.294 Trillion.

All in all -- during Bushie's eight years, the National Debt grew from nearly 6T to 10 Trillion; and under the Obama's watch, from 10 T to 14 Trillion.

The only difference -- which, one would have to be totally stuck on one's personal ideology not to see it -- is that Bush had eight years, two wars, a housing bubble, and 9/11 rock his world.

Obama, on the other hand -- has only had two and a half years under his belt -- after getting America into a third war, creating a stimulus bridge to nowhere, adding an unfunded healthcare liability which, by the way, steals 500 Billion dollars from Medicare, and all while, scaring the living, breathing daylights out of any current risk taker, or wannabe risk taker, into sitting on their money.  Investment, expansion, corporate innovation of every kind has been squelched, put on hold indefinitely (regulation, unknown - healthcare costs, unknown -- taxes, unknown...).

So like I said, BOTH PARTIES are at fault -- dating back twenty years (at least).  BUT, if you wanna add an itty bitty polka-dot bikini butt in there -- Bush, and his Congress, had six more years on Obama.  Apples to apples, dust to dust -- if we go a full two terms under the Golden Boy, at the rate he's going, with another six years we would be sitting at 26 Trillion dollars.

Because of the level of UNFUNDED liabilities -- Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid -- and the new "Affordable [Health] Care Act" -- we cannot continue at the going rate.   It is just not feasible in any way -- I don't care if it is an R or a D following your name.  Incrementally, the rate of escalation sends us on a trajectory that we all know is unsustainable.  And at some level, even Obama agrees (let us be reminded of his political mind from 2006):

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that “the buck stops here.” Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

yeah yeah, ideology didn't get into his way there, now did it?  yeah, yeah, now of course, he regrets having said that today -- it is different, you know, when you are the leader.

Granted, G has had her pretty little face in the sand much of the last ten years -- I seem to have missed raising a little Cain during the Bushie years.   MY APOLOGIES to YOU, AMERICA.  What can I say, those years are gone.  Albeit frittered away... at my job... raising my girl... arguing with her daddy over child support and custody, trying to keep a roof over my head and staying out of trouble.  I know, I know; excuses, excuses.  I ONLY WISH I was paying closer attention to every little breathing detail like I do now.  BUT Please, please accept my apology now.  I promise to do better.  Consider G thoroughly smacked upside her head now.

And I would also like to think, that besides being more awake these days, that I am not one to cling to a cultural political ideology, as much as I prefer to cling to the ideology of our founders --  the foundation itself --  the principles and values that made this country great.  That, to me, means adhering to the creative process this nation was intended.  It means, sticking to the Constitution, aligning with the Rule of Law, keeping to our inherent duty as citizens, as countrymen, to be a self-reliant, independent bunch, living in the freedom to pursue our own happiness, under a LIMITED, federal government.

BOTH PARTIES used to agree on this one to a great degree -- whether you were an R or a D -- solvency was an essential ingredient, part of our nature, whether you came from the left or right.  Sure, we may have different things that make us tick, but all in all, we should all be able to come together when it comes to keeping our fiscal  house in order.  I mean, tell me, who doesn't want that?

This person that made these free-flying Bill Maher Bush-bombs, continued to convey the importance of sticking to the principles, not ideology, in another '[SPAM] reply all' but directed towards one opinion in particular -- and then proceeded to close with "I was a conservative once, and then I got educated."   and all that's left for me to say to that is, wow.  way to reflect your magnificent principles, dude.

That is almost as ripe as our president walking out of the Debt Ceiling meetings yesterday, and telling Eric Cantor "Don't call my bluff."  really?

Nobody is immune, are we?  Even the president stoops to levels of playing politics with ideology -- leaving founding principles and values in a heap on the floor.  And what in tar-nation is that?  So you are playing chicken with the debt ceiling; you are playing with matches in a haystack.  Bluffing?  You said it, Mr. President.  You don't want Eric to call YOUR BLUFF.  Are you kidding me? really?  seriously?  you said that out loud?

Politics is what gets in the way of doing the right thing; this vicious cycle runs as predictable as climate change, just as explosive as human nature.

Just know, the latest contagion of the American Fall (direct opposite of the Arab Spring) --  the one rippling through our world in waves, going totally global,  in a fierce, viral conversation -- a debate that nearly every card carrying member of the Power Elite are beginning to join in chorus --  is the call for raising America's debt ceiling and the pending doomsday if we don't.  Moody's, Wall Street, Bernanke (and the Fed in general), IMF President, Geithner,  Buffett...RINO's and DINO's... Maher (that is just to make us laugh) -- the pitch is one in the same -- raise the ceiling, or America will default on the debt and it will be all over.

It is almost like America is getting gang banged by the Power Elite to do what they say, not as they do.  wow, talk about the Chicago code, an elitist mob rule, kicked up a notch...with everyone dressed to the nine's in haute couture ....Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, and Givenchy...like ladies and gentlemen ga ga gook

[But one, in particular, seems to have issues...
 "I do not want, and I will not accept a deal in which I am asked to do nothing. In fact, I am able to keep hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional income that I don't need, while, uh, a parent out there who is struggling to figure out how to send their kid to college suddenly finds, uh, that they've got a couple thousand dollars less in grants or student loans. That's what the revenue debate is about." - Our President of the United States of America, just July 11

...does wealth bother you that much, Mr. President? Do you not know how to put it to good use?  Does it embarrass you that much?  Would your mother or your father or your brother call you a "sell-out" or something?  talk about some kind of dark ideological, internal conflict...You do know that an attitude of limitation is totally un-American, right?...oh right, and again, my conversation on Shared Sacrifice vs. Shared Prosperity is being pushed off to another day...]

Let's wrap things up.

The truth is, the Debt Ceiling was masterminded by man as a tool; it was to intended to keep our government in CHECK.  (That is a good one, isn't it.)  The debt ceiling is imaginary; man made it all up right from the start.  They -- government -- keep ignoring it, because they -- government -- want to continue to borrow and buy on credit -- so that they --  government -- can continue to do the things it was never intended to do in the first place (like offer entitlements, in particular).  They -- the government -- continue to do this to keep the peace and control the happy stupid people.

Just like the tide, doesn't matter if it be R's or D's...both parties are equally at fault.

And political, you betcha.

Which is exactly why resting on our founding principles IS the only way to do America, to do it right.

Which is exactly why the Tea Party is rising in this country (predicting a Tsunami force by 2012).

What?  You think we Tea's are bluffing, or something?
That's a good one.

Make it a Good Day, G

and to all my muses on the day, many thanks for the inspiration.

And you know, if we want to stick to PRINCIPLES, not ideology, a notion I can fully support for the sake of this debate -- then we would have to restrict, repeal, and not replace, nearly 2/3rds of the reckless spending within our current federal budget. All entitlements go against the American Principles.  Most departments are entirely unnecessary.

In truth, if you read the Constitution, the powers of the federal government rest almost entirely upon protecting us -- as in providing a strong military, and allowing for a grassroots militia of citizenry, as well as, protecting us from an overzealous government on down the road; the enumerated powers LIMIT government, while manifesting an UNLIMITED power of the people.  Our principles and values relied on INDIVIDUALS maintaining principles and values -- above personal ideology -- while making painfully clear our direct responsibility and duty to uphold...principles and values.

Dear America,

Imported from Detroit.

Fabulous...and my favorite of the Super Bowl commercials...after perfect narration setting the scene, we get EMINEM singing Lose Yourself  ...never never let it go...once in a lifetime...
and popping out of a new car.

It also  just so happens to be the song in my I-pod that kicks in at about 16 minutes into my run, and just when I need it most.  The rhythm pumps me over the hump and gives me that last gasp of motivation to finish.

So I finally got what his name was all about -- at least, I'm assuming so -- never said I was always quick on the uptake...not that I spent much time wondering, but the imagination finally figured it out -- like an M&M, he is chocolate on the inside.  how brilliant is he... the white boy now famous for breaking the rapper glass ceiling with his melodies and lyrics.

But it wasn't so much the song that got me, it was the message; in classic American style, appealing to the history and breakthroughs of our automobile legacy and from where it all comes -- at the very end arriving at the line "Imported from Detroit."

The new era of Chrysler begins... and well done.

"it's the hottest fires that make the heart of steel...add hard work and conviction...that's our story...don't know what we're capable of...just as much about where it's from as who it's for..."

America, the story of us.

Makes me wanna buy a Chrysler.

The thing is, you can't fake authentic  -- it just doesn't work that way.  Which takes me to the pre-game interview with O'Reilly and Obama, O&O.

Get out your pad of paper and take down the talking points...
" [Egypt]
Universal values...
not going  to go back to what it was...
want freedom...
transition...now...
make sure all groups get together...
meaningful...
can't force...what happens...
we can say..time is now...
making the change...
long time partner...
Muslim Brotherhood...
is one faction...well organized
...strains...anti-U.S....no doubt about it...
here's what we know...
educators and civil society...
come to the table...
representative government...
[new subject, health care]
judge in Florida was wrong...
what I don't want to do...re-litigate...
if you have ideas...
win the future...
[new subject, moving to center]
I'm the same guy."

while he flat out denies he is all about redistributing the wealth...
[going against American statute 1776, cannot multiply wealth by dividing it]

okay.  whatever.  if you say so.

Much like the State of the Union address, he speaks to us in campaign mode, relying on worn out rhetoric to make his point...and as we tune out ...we make our way over to the bean dip and maybe grab another beer. One of the most lackluster O'Reilly interviews I've ever seen.

But lets just look at what he had to work with, within only about a fifteen minute time frame.  Within the first two years of this presidency, Obama has led the nation and ---
  • leveled the Oil and Gas Industry, stifling all new drilling and energy innovation (unless of course it's green, and then, only by playing favorites, and going against our founding principles of competition, putting unfair and illegal government subsidies in place);
  • completely dismantled the health insurance industry, forcing regulatory changes that immediately affect our household bottom line -- while his entire H.C.legislation is ultimately set to turn what was a highly successful health care system into a government takeover, costing the tax payers billions in unfunded, unconstitutional liabilities;
  • destroyed relations with Israel -- and now, with Egypt about to be handed over to the radicalized Muslim Brotherhood, his administration has created the very conditions, the unintended consequences, giving way to a third world war, jeopardizing everything we know and love;
  • after spending $865 billion in stimulus, in order to keep the unemployment below 8%, to "create or save" jobs -- he has, to date, grown the federal government by 25%;
  • at every move, created an unfavorable environment towards small business and the Chamber of Commerce -- having his first meeting with the Chamber just today;
  • discredited the grassroots of the Tea Party in the U.S. and yet, somehow, he has fully embraced the 'democracy in action' in the streets of Egypt;
  • jumped to conclusions in the case of the white police officer and Professor Gates -- yet hesitated in the case of Nadal Malik Hasan at Fort Hood;
  • didn't speak up on behalf of Iran's protesters, but sent an entourage to Egypt to have a sit down;
  • he took weeks to get a grip on the Gulf Oil spill disaster, turning international help away... after also claiming to be "in charge since day one";
  • added 3.5 trillion dollars to our national debt -- and currently running 1.5 trillion dollar deficits, operating the federal government without a budget, and weeks away from raising our debt ceiling only because we have created a system that no longer values living within our means, with a special assist going out to Congress...
  • added hundreds of regulations and levels of bureaucracy into a system already overrun
And this just seems to be the top ten, or is it eleven, that come to mind.

The thing is, I'm not sure we can make it for another two; even though it may be clear to some people that he wants to act with a free enterprising, innovative spirit, when it gets down to it, he just has no idea how -- he wasn't designed for such -- his software doesn't match up with the American hardware; he thinks he stands synonymous with Detroit, when in fact, he is looking more like he is made in China, Indonesia... or would it be Kenya or Honolulu?  really doesn't matter.

Authenticity cannot be faked, while it remains to be the root problem of this presidency -- legitimacy doesn't come neatly packaged in sound bites and talking points when it comes to real world solutions and relationship; it is deeper, truer and more meaningful than that.

True American ideals and philosophy is something we are born with -- while it used to be ingrained into the heart and soul of our education, our society, and our culture, taught naturally and organically, perpetuating a system rich in diversity, melting into one body, and steeped within an exceptional, majestic history, thereby allowing our future to run wild with possibilities.  You teach it by living it in every way, not just for show, not just for the sale, not just to win elections -- it has to be real.

Sadly, this president simply doesn't have the real factor, the It factor, the true American spirit factor -- the never never let it go...once in a lifetime...for all time...never never ...forgetting.... where we came from.

He is an impostor through and through and currently reigns in the limelight of fooling the world -- with plenty of props, of course.

Make it a Good Day, G

and here's to Detroit making a  great comeback.  Motor on Motor city.  God Speed.

Dear America,

Happy Wednesday.

and can we just say 'wow' -- you leftists seem a bit out of sorts, generally speaking.

What I find amusing, given time and time again, the great Obama-san has said he doesn't care about the polls (championing his own goals often times in spite of what the polls say) -- how could he have spent so much time yesterday reciting just what the polls say. funny.

"there are polls right now that say its a bad idea right now to give the wealthy tax cuts...I need to do what's right for the American people...this isn't an abstract debate...  this is real money for real people...I know the polls, and they are on our side on this...this is not a position where I have failed to convince the American people..."

insinuating polls never lie, and that he, oh honorable one, is fully aligned with the wisdom back behind the numbers.

This was his effort in day two of being in charge since day one, in making his feeble attempt to "convince" the American people to stand by him -- or was it?  Maybe, it was more to corner and convince his own party to follow him.  Trust me  Trust me  TRRRRRRRussssssssssssst me.  smirking into the teleprompter.

Some might have called his day two in front of the press, making an extra effort to capitalize on his natural, super fly ability to persuade, a wee bit sthuperfhhpluous... "you try saying it after you had twelve stitches"...superfluous.

Yes, you got me, that was a different day, and a different audience -- but we hadn't mentioned this little blooper yet; and actually, I thought Obama-san was just so cute about the whole thing, I didn't want to ignore it -- it was a fleeting moment that reminded me of his old ways...charming, flashing that gorgeous smile, laughing at himself (if only a tiny bit) and making people fall all over themselves spellbound and adoringly. good stuff, but let's get back on point.

So there he was, at the podium again -- and if we thought he was frustrated on Monday, not sure what you would call yesterday.   THAT was soooooooo, like, uncomfortable..

More unnerving, was the notion that he never had the backing of his people before making his every intention known, that being to cave to the GOP just in time for the holidays; how awkward is that?  Or was it?

I didn't hear but two minutes of GB yesterday before having to leave, but what I did make note of was a certain curiosity -- what is it about this scenario that we don't know, don't see, and are not privy to, according to the underworld of the alleged compromise?  And why oh why,  did we have to arrest Julian Assange now, just when we need a guy like this the most?

I say "alleged compromise", as the actual legislation has yet to come to fruition; while as a matter of record, and by the chilling response the president has received, to date, that prospect has a long way to go -- if the reactions on the hill are any true sign.

His party, apparently, didn't see this coming (even after intimate meetings of the upper democratic echelon with the president, and in spite of a congressional 'holiday' party going on at the very time Obama-san made the announcement).  hmmmm .....strange.....

Something sounds fishy...bring me the fruitcake as something is not quite right.

Now we could argue, this "compromise," which is yet to be signed, sealed and delivered to the American people, is yet another play toy from the universe in the making; while the tarot cards can say something different to everyone.

Obama-san is using it for his own liking, with eyes on the prize for 2012.

The GOP is using it for their own liking, with eyes on just getting to the first of the year, when all else shall be added unto thee.

While the democrats, stuck in lameduck, are using it as the itty bitty leverage they've got left -- in order to quite possibly pass legislation that doesn't have a snowballs chance in otherwise getting along, like DADT, or the Dream Act...but the truth is, when push comes to shove, they don't care if they have to fight for their right to party and speak freely; they dig this class warfare stuff, and will run with that all the way to the moon, around the milky way, and back (even if that program's been canceled).

But make no mistake, the president wins all the way around, the stars are shining upon his lucky little sweet a**.

The polls -- you know, the ones he never pays any mind to -- tell him to go ahead, blast the republicans for forcing him to cave on something he never wanted, and something he promised he would change if he were elected over and over and over again in the campaign.

He is ready for that fight later, in two years, when he can use this "compromise" to feed the frenzy of his re-election; in two years, by heeding the wishes of the right, he will reap huge rewards; if the economy snaps out of it, it will be to his favor; if the economy continues to lag, he can use it against the GOP; on the inside Obama-san is smiling all the way to the bank, that would be the First Republic of China, of course.

He sees his future, he is reading the tea leaves, and realizes one very important thing -- he doesn't really need the lameduck congress to have his back.  As usual, he will do what he wants, what he thinks "is best for the American people" and come out smelling like a rose, or better yet, more like jasmine.  But will this really be for the betterment of America, and Americans?  Is his heart in the right place?  Is this really about promoting the general welfare with respect to the finer principles of America's foundation, or is this just more a mistake in the making bearing false witness to the stars that bind?

But like everything else, a universal give and take is at play; and sometimes just doing the right thing in the moment is enough to carry you into a future all shiny and bright -- good karma can be made and distributed equally and fairly under the rule of law every time; though nothing is in stone, and even the stars could be all wrong, the very intention back behind an action can affect the outcome in extraordinary ways (having said that, only God truly knows).

What it takes, day in and day out, is the honest to goodness effort to truly do the right thing for the right reasons; with that, everybody wins, without fail.  It is the golden rule and silky  red thread that maintains all civility, that honors and rewards hard work and a job well done, and elevates society to levels of lasting peace, prosperity, and justice for all.

What the polls should say to everyone, is that the status quo of uncontrollable spending, wanton taxation, and an overzealous regulatory government is NOT what the people really, really want; nor is it something we can even afford!

And it took the wayward leftist leanings of this presidency to get us here.  IF this president thinks for one minute that the polls are saying to stick it to the rich, as the ignorant ingrates that we are, just to satisfy the prevailing winds of a growing entitlement populace or the left-wing elitists who only want to control the world, then I would say, this president needs to look again.

Those who know anything, recognize this:  those who make the corporate world -- those who do, create, invest, build, shoulder, elevate, the private industry in this country -- make US.  yes, let's give a jolly shout out to GM and expressly to Jeep, for stealing their slogan, in part...

IF we the people can be honest for just a moment, the ways of the world and all that comes with it, carries a great responsibility; and it all comes from individuals -- and really good ones, at that; our jobs, our livelihoods, come from those who can; they come from the bounty of wealth and good fortune of generations of hard work, not taking anything for granted, being inherently grateful for it all -- that is if fortunate enough to be coming from the right place.

This "compromise" over taxation comes from dueling views -- and it is simply a fight that, ideologically, we will never transcend; the fair distribution of other people's money, the justification of giving the fruits of ones labor to another without warrant, is not an American argument easily supported, by precedence.  This argument, this "compromise", actually defines what the making of this beautiful country was all about.

From Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931:
"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy our of freedom.  What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.  The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government has not first taken from somebody else.  When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of the nation...you cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

From Abraham Lincoln:

"You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.  You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.  You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.  You cannot further the brotherhood of man by encouraging class hatred.  You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.  You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.  You cannot build character and courage by taking every man's initiative and independence.  You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves."

You know what the polls are telling me?

Strike up the old bamboo, less talking, more doing is in order (weird, I believe that is Home Depot in my ear).

Make it a Good Day, G

Kool and the Gang, playing two days in a row on Dear America, click it, and get your back up off the wall, get down on it...whatcha gonna do...you gonna get down...LOVE LOVE LOVE these guys...
