It's a New World Being Thrown Upside Down Thing

Dear America,

one     week     to       go.

And you know things have turned upside down when the Washington Post Fact Checks a Romney Ad and labels it "technically correct."  Of course, they proceeded to give the ad FOUR Pinocchios anyway -- I guess just because they didn't like it; it was not because it was grossly dishonest, but mostly entirely subjectively grossly disappointing news for the liberal media giant.

From Joel Pollack, @Breitbart.com:

"Here is the naked truth about Romney's claims about Jeep. Romney was wrong to say, in a speech in Ohio last week, that Jeep is moving "all" production to China. That statement, even if it was just a slip, was worthy of correction.

But the Jeep ad airing in Ohio makes no such statement. It says that Chrysler, Jeep's parent, was sold 'to Italians who are going to build Jeeps in China.'  That is 100% correct, and has been since 2010, as Tony Lee pointed out yesterday. It is also true that 'Fact checkers confirm that [Obama's] attacks on Mitt Romney [on the auto bailout] are false' and that Romney 'is supported by Lee Iacocca and the Detroit News.'"
Continue Reading HERE.

But this is old news for anyone who follows this little roadster  -- for G highlighted an article  last Friday from the Washington Examiner's Paul Bedard, that covered every itty bitty dirty detail, as dust was flyin' by the time Bedard was done going zero to sixty in seven paragraphs...  see here.  And his backup came from Bloomberg, see here.

And you know, now that I'm thinking about it -- let's go all the way back to August and a remark made at the republican convention and   "fact checked" here.  Oh right, it wasn't about losing production jobs in Ohio, it was about losing production jobs in Wisconsin.  Ya got me there.

Oh my goodness Oh my goodness

Oh not convinced yet?

READ THIS -- just more old news same story, going back to October 16, 2012.

[And yes, the g-ster is making you read a lot today, what else is new -- but you know what they used to say, "reading is fundamental..."]

oh, getting tired of reading already -- let's watch some  TV --

wow, right?
[and thank you, Vince Wade, for giving us that youtube thriller.]

You know what else is turning upside down?

Obama's nasty negative campaign based entirely upon lies, ridicule, and conduct unbecoming of a president.

You know what else is turning upside down?

Something way more important than that.

For this morning, we must continue to send our prayers east.  The count is up to thirty people who have died,  seven million people without power, and countless Americans under water.  Sandy has become the poster child for nature's wrath and unimaginable destruction.

Even though playing in the world of political opinion has become almost second nature for me on most days, this morning, my heart continues to push pause.

So until we meet again, which should be tomorrow, allow me to come to a screeching halt. Perhaps it's a good day to simply take care of our loved ones and count our blessings large or small -- for we have seen, with our own eyes, just how quickly things can be blown to smithereens.

Make it a Good Day, G

One more thing to be expected in the wake of Sandy...it's just a little something having absolutely nothing to do with Obama lifting a pen or enacting a tax... is the economy will get a massive tick up in the pick up...with gratitude and appreciation going to flood and fire insurance companies everywhere -- those writing the checks thousands of miles wide.  Reconstruction after the destruction can grow an economy to replace the things which were lost, and calling for more people of all trades to do the handy-work.  May this bring just a glimmer of hope on this tragically dark day.

It's Round and Round with Hard Work and Fair Play Thing

Dear America,

"The economy is getting stronger.
 The recovery is speeding up.
And now is the time to keep our foot on the gas."
President Obama
speech to the United Auto Workers
today

 going full throttle, he goes on to say this:

"We will not settle for a country where a few people do really well, and everyone else struggles to get by. We’re fighting for an economy where everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same rules. We will not go back to an economy weakened by outsourcing, bad debt, and phony profits. We’re fighting for an economy that’s built to last – one built on things like education, energy, manufacturing things the rest of the world wants to buy, and restoring the values that made this country great: Hard work. Fair play. The opportunity to make it if you try. And the responsibility to reach back and help someone else make it, too."

Is this really a country where only "a few do really well, and everyone else struggles to get by?"

seriously?
cuz, when I think of a country like that, I envision a place more like Africa, India, Russia, Afghanistan.

Our "poor" live with televisions, mobile phones, access to fresh water and toilets and refrigeration -- and food stamps...lots and lots of food stamps.

If you care to read the full transcript of the president's speech, go here.

"Restoring the values that made this country great: Hard work.  Fair play.  The opportunity to make it if you try.  And the responsibility to reach back and help someone else make it, too."

It was worth repeating.

When I think of a country like that, I envision a true story turning into a movie like The Blind Side -- the African-American boy taken in by a warm, loving Christian family who guided him with the endearing values our country was made leading the way: to work hard... play fair... to try... and when you finally make it, to reach back and help someone else...(becoming a star NFL football player with a humble, grateful, HUGE heart)

What is confusing to me is that the president can't have it both ways.  He can't tell people to do their fair share and work hard and play fair, if in fact in the end, he intends to redistribute 'the shares' anyway.  He can't instill free market principles, while holding 'a few' hostage in order to hold up 'a few' who struggle.  He can't tell everyone to do their fair share, except you....and you...and maybe you, too.

It's not like Obama turns to Hollywood and tells them, everyone must be paid the same rate.

It's not like Obama turns to his buddy Jamie Dimon, the CEO of Chase Bank, and tells him he is being paid too much, asking him to share his good fortune evenly among his tellers.

It's not like Obama turns to his community organizer counterparts over the years, like Andy Stern... and when president of SEIU... expected him to be paid a salary in step and "fair and square" with the SEIU union workers who labored underneath him.  Which, by the way, all unions are top heavy within the upper echelon and paid handsomely, flagrantly askew from the average union worker.  What's fair about that?

He is talking to the audience of UAW as if his work is done and it is good.

But here's another angle from The Morning Bell.   Featured this morning from The Heritage Foundation:  How Chrysler Can Actually Help Detroit.

The freedom to live in a country honoring the Right to Work -- a founding principle and value on multiple levels -- is the answer for nearly all of our economic woes.   The freedom to start at the bottom and work up.  The freedom to earn millions of dollars for acting, in banking, in community organizing, in auto making...It is all connected to the inherent ability for all of us to WORK HARD, play fair, and give back.  We all start at entry level jobs and do our best to aspire to bigger, better opportunities.

What troubles me is the handpicking of winners and losers of industry; what concerns me are the exceptions being made for some millionaires and billionaires in a few businesses, while villain-izing some millionaires and billionaires of others -- while also making it sound like the 1% give nothing in return.  WHICH IS A LIE.

But this yahoo! headline says it all about today's mindset:  Are the Rich Unethical?

[G note: given human nature, my belief is that the rich are no more unethical than the poor...for it always falls back to the individual, of which we cannot generalize....for that wouldn't be fair, now would it?]

But this president seems unable to make the appropriate free market connections to how the whole thing works (the whole thing, as in the WHOLE of America); the free market must be free -- and, like he said, it relies on HARD WORK, playing fair, and a whole lot of trying from everyone.  The equal opportunity does not always equate to equal outcome in a free society.

And the thing is, in order to succeed in manufacturing anything -- there will always be a need for the upper echelon of presidents and vice presidents and chairmen and investors (those who put up the money in the first place and take the initial risk), along with the inherent need for secretaries, janitors, with plenty of worker bees on the line (those who simply show up and work hard and play fair and get a paycheck with benefits).

Is this really a country where only "a few do really well, and everyone else struggles to get by?"

Look around you.  Let's be real. Who is selling who the snake oil this time?

Make it a Good Day, G

Here's going off on a totally whacky tangent -- I'm surprised the president hasn't criminalized racing this week....NASCAR, Formula One, Daytona, Indy, all of it.  I mean, you know, given the gas crunch, given the inequality of distribution of winnings isn't fair, given the abuses to the environment, given his relationship within the race car world is pretty sketchy, at best, all the way around....think about it.  Why hasn't he waved the red flag and brought down the whole sport altogether, considering the averages of 5/mpg and the clear and present danger of wasting away our liquid gold at a rate of 200,000 gallons/year, just to cover NASCAR races alone?  Think about it.  It's a good question.  Did you see what happened yesterday?  Fuel, burned, by the tanker full.  What a waste.

But just to be clear: I'm playing.  I love car racing. Go Danica [oh this is funny -- just looked her up real quick to check the spelling of her name and discovered we share a birthday...the kicker, we are twenty years apart!  I hate her now.   makes my head spin just a wee bit.  need to lay down...]

Dear America,

Imported from Detroit.

Fabulous...and my favorite of the Super Bowl commercials...after perfect narration setting the scene, we get EMINEM singing Lose Yourself  ...never never let it go...once in a lifetime...
and popping out of a new car.

It also  just so happens to be the song in my I-pod that kicks in at about 16 minutes into my run, and just when I need it most.  The rhythm pumps me over the hump and gives me that last gasp of motivation to finish.

So I finally got what his name was all about -- at least, I'm assuming so -- never said I was always quick on the uptake...not that I spent much time wondering, but the imagination finally figured it out -- like an M&M, he is chocolate on the inside.  how brilliant is he... the white boy now famous for breaking the rapper glass ceiling with his melodies and lyrics.

But it wasn't so much the song that got me, it was the message; in classic American style, appealing to the history and breakthroughs of our automobile legacy and from where it all comes -- at the very end arriving at the line "Imported from Detroit."

The new era of Chrysler begins... and well done.

"it's the hottest fires that make the heart of steel...add hard work and conviction...that's our story...don't know what we're capable of...just as much about where it's from as who it's for..."

America, the story of us.

Makes me wanna buy a Chrysler.

The thing is, you can't fake authentic  -- it just doesn't work that way.  Which takes me to the pre-game interview with O'Reilly and Obama, O&O.

Get out your pad of paper and take down the talking points...
" [Egypt]
Universal values...
not going  to go back to what it was...
want freedom...
transition...now...
make sure all groups get together...
meaningful...
can't force...what happens...
we can say..time is now...
making the change...
long time partner...
Muslim Brotherhood...
is one faction...well organized
...strains...anti-U.S....no doubt about it...
here's what we know...
educators and civil society...
come to the table...
representative government...
[new subject, health care]
judge in Florida was wrong...
what I don't want to do...re-litigate...
if you have ideas...
win the future...
[new subject, moving to center]
I'm the same guy."

while he flat out denies he is all about redistributing the wealth...
[going against American statute 1776, cannot multiply wealth by dividing it]

okay.  whatever.  if you say so.

Much like the State of the Union address, he speaks to us in campaign mode, relying on worn out rhetoric to make his point...and as we tune out ...we make our way over to the bean dip and maybe grab another beer. One of the most lackluster O'Reilly interviews I've ever seen.

But lets just look at what he had to work with, within only about a fifteen minute time frame.  Within the first two years of this presidency, Obama has led the nation and ---
  • leveled the Oil and Gas Industry, stifling all new drilling and energy innovation (unless of course it's green, and then, only by playing favorites, and going against our founding principles of competition, putting unfair and illegal government subsidies in place);
  • completely dismantled the health insurance industry, forcing regulatory changes that immediately affect our household bottom line -- while his entire H.C.legislation is ultimately set to turn what was a highly successful health care system into a government takeover, costing the tax payers billions in unfunded, unconstitutional liabilities;
  • destroyed relations with Israel -- and now, with Egypt about to be handed over to the radicalized Muslim Brotherhood, his administration has created the very conditions, the unintended consequences, giving way to a third world war, jeopardizing everything we know and love;
  • after spending $865 billion in stimulus, in order to keep the unemployment below 8%, to "create or save" jobs -- he has, to date, grown the federal government by 25%;
  • at every move, created an unfavorable environment towards small business and the Chamber of Commerce -- having his first meeting with the Chamber just today;
  • discredited the grassroots of the Tea Party in the U.S. and yet, somehow, he has fully embraced the 'democracy in action' in the streets of Egypt;
  • jumped to conclusions in the case of the white police officer and Professor Gates -- yet hesitated in the case of Nadal Malik Hasan at Fort Hood;
  • didn't speak up on behalf of Iran's protesters, but sent an entourage to Egypt to have a sit down;
  • he took weeks to get a grip on the Gulf Oil spill disaster, turning international help away... after also claiming to be "in charge since day one";
  • added 3.5 trillion dollars to our national debt -- and currently running 1.5 trillion dollar deficits, operating the federal government without a budget, and weeks away from raising our debt ceiling only because we have created a system that no longer values living within our means, with a special assist going out to Congress...
  • added hundreds of regulations and levels of bureaucracy into a system already overrun
And this just seems to be the top ten, or is it eleven, that come to mind.

The thing is, I'm not sure we can make it for another two; even though it may be clear to some people that he wants to act with a free enterprising, innovative spirit, when it gets down to it, he just has no idea how -- he wasn't designed for such -- his software doesn't match up with the American hardware; he thinks he stands synonymous with Detroit, when in fact, he is looking more like he is made in China, Indonesia... or would it be Kenya or Honolulu?  really doesn't matter.

Authenticity cannot be faked, while it remains to be the root problem of this presidency -- legitimacy doesn't come neatly packaged in sound bites and talking points when it comes to real world solutions and relationship; it is deeper, truer and more meaningful than that.

True American ideals and philosophy is something we are born with -- while it used to be ingrained into the heart and soul of our education, our society, and our culture, taught naturally and organically, perpetuating a system rich in diversity, melting into one body, and steeped within an exceptional, majestic history, thereby allowing our future to run wild with possibilities.  You teach it by living it in every way, not just for show, not just for the sale, not just to win elections -- it has to be real.

Sadly, this president simply doesn't have the real factor, the It factor, the true American spirit factor -- the never never let it go...once in a lifetime...for all time...never never ...forgetting.... where we came from.

He is an impostor through and through and currently reigns in the limelight of fooling the world -- with plenty of props, of course.

Make it a Good Day, G

and here's to Detroit making a  great comeback.  Motor on Motor city.  God Speed.
