It's Just a 2014 Blog Based Upon 2008 Election Results Thing

Dear America,

Well, Cry Me A foreign policy on the rocks...
make mine shaken not stirred.

[and little old gthing has only been waiting three days to say that.]

From March 1, Washington Post:

“If you are effectively taking the stick option off the table, then what are you left with?” said Andrew C. Kuchins, who heads the Russia and Eurasia Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. “I don’t think that Obama and his people really understand how others in the world are viewing his policies.”


And the very next day, let me introduce you to the opening paragraph from the editorial section of the same Post:

FOR FIVE YEARS, President Obama has led a foreign policy based more on how he thinks the world should operate than on reality. It was a world in whichthe tide of war is receding” and the United States could, without much risk, radically reduce the size of its armed forces. Other leaders, in this vision, would behave rationally and in the interest of their people and the world. Invasions, brute force, great-power games and shifting alliances — these were things of the past. Secretary of State John F. Kerry displayed this mindset on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday when he said, of Russia’s invasion of neighboring Ukraine, “It’s a 19th century act in the 21st century.”


And Kerry hop skipped over the 20th century ,why?  For emphasis?  oh okay.

But yes, poking fun at Putin is a new kind of diplomacy -- it's fresh -- coming out of the think tanks of the 21st century, for sure, and not to be confused with the hope y changy diplomacy policy -- both foreign and domestic -- rising like a Phoenix on stage in Denver, circa 2008 to date.

Oh yes, "change we can believe in" and evidently, go on -- forward march! --- to hang a foreign policy upon...... come hell or high water, climate change,  even the Black Sea.

Doncha like the pink?  Besides being a nice touch --  it's code.  It's to serve as a reminder, we are reading material from a place consistently left brained.  And apparently a bunch of left brains all at once, bringing the madness titled, President Obama’s foreign policy is based on fantasy, out of the noggins of  the highly esteemed "Editorial Board."

The White House often responds by accusing critics of being warmongers who want American “boots on the ground” all over the world and have yet to learn the lessons of Iraq. So let’s stipulate: We don’t want U.S. troops in Syria, and we don’t want U.S. troops in Crimea. A great power can become overextended, and if its economy falters, so will its ability to lead. None of this is simple.

But it’s also true that, as long as some leaders play by what Mr. Kerry dismisses as 19th-century rules, the United States can’t pretend that the only game is in another arena altogether. Military strength, trustworthiness as an ally, staying power in difficult corners of the world such as Afghanistan — these still matter, much as we might wish they did not. While the United States has been retrenching, the tide of democracy in the world, which once seemed inexorable, has been receding. In the long run, that’s harmful to U.S. national security, too.

The urge to pull back — to concentrate on what Mr. Obama calls “nation-building at home” — is nothing new, as former ambassador Stephen Sestanovich recounts in his illuminating history of U.S. foreign policy, “Maximalist.” There were similar retrenchments after the Korea and Vietnam wars and when the Soviet Union crumbled. But the United States discovered each time that the world became a more dangerous place without its leadership and that disorder in the world could threaten U.S. prosperity. Each period of retrenchment was followed by more active (though not always wiser) policy. Today Mr. Obama has plenty of company in his impulse, within both parties and as reflected by public opinion. But he’s also in part responsible for the national mood: If a president doesn’t make the case for global engagement, no one else effectively can.

Upon morning light,

Putin is supposedly "pulling back" now.
Phew!   (and thank you, Drudge, for the headline chuckle when we feel like crying --  because isn't this true...  misery hates company who doesn't bring a bottle of wine). 

But then again, who are we kidding.  That pull back looks a lot like Putin re-grouping and perhaps a little  re-imagining of his relations with China of his own.  Picturing the scene when Mickey Mouse meets the mop in Fantasia now and scaring the living daylights out of myself.

I know.
So weird.
What does it all mean?

and yes, maybe I AM losing my mind.  But I AM not alone.  Surely, there is personal security in that (foreign relations security, not so much).

Clearly, our fantasy centered foreign policy "has  paid a price in the nervousness of its neighbors, who are desperate for the United States to play a balancing role in the region. But none of those neighbors feel confident that the United States can be counted on."

Let's face it, folks, we are a hot mess.
Where's the strateegury?  Where's the methodical study of action and reaction from the ages, spanning the globe and centuries of material at our fingertips?  Where is the art of war not only being recognized, but honored -- and used as a tool and tactic to create diplomatic change from a position of strength and expertise, coming from a formidable world power, no less?

Because clearly!  Other foreign entities are studying US!  Putin seems to foresee things, contemplating consequences all along the way.

And on another campaign promise of a different kind, upon a different day --  March 26, 2012 to be exact -- what did Obama mean when he told Medvedev to wait until after the election, when more flexibility could be seen from his backyard?  You see, it's things like this that make this girl crazy...

But to think --
Palin nailed it, saying “After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama’s reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia’s Putin to invade Ukraine next." 

[And if you linked in there, let me extend this tidbit to Michael Peck:  It was Tina Fey, impersonating Palin, who said she could see Russia...]  But I digress. This isn't the big finish I had envisioned.

But to think --
Obama was going to save the world! when he was ushered into office without a smidgen of a resume to support the action. 
The Manchurian candidate.... maybe, maybe not... hmm ...fantasy or reality....No matter.   The thing is, it's plum too late for the world to get to the middle of that creamy center. 
It's in motion already. 
And more than that, it is done.

It's What the Hell Just Happened Thing

Dear America,

all together now...deep, cleansing breath.

Old G thing has been clinging to dear life.
Finding comfort -- in an oh so bittersweet kind of way -- in the famous phrase, "when you're going through hell, keep going."    Indeed,  and thank you Churchill as we regroup, as we take stock in the things we hold dear.  And with great hope, let it become the catalyst for rebuilding, transforming, and making good from a set of circumstances that clearly carry the potential to wipe us out altogether.

Sure, when I say "clinging to dear life" it's not like I'm in Syria, struggling to actually stay alive while dodging rebels, the Assad army, and otherwise physically, emotionally wrestle with the possibility of losing life or limb just walking to the five and dime.  It's not like that.

It's not like I have to go all out and gird my loins in order to battle the deluge -- a massive wall of water in Biblical proportions coming off the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and thereby save my life, home, family from nature's fury.  It's not like that.  [And saying a few extra heartfelt prayers to those I love experiencing this for real....which is simply a little shout out to a little R and D who make their homestead in Boulder  xoxo]

It's not like I have to save myself through a daily hookup to an IV, supplying enough nutrients and energy to survive -- as in the case with the love of my life  [my poor baby]. 
It's like, enough already!  Lord, can't you see?  My ability to keep going is on the verge of total collapse...can't you see my legs beginning to buckle underneath me?   Yeah right... God only gives us "what we can handle" -- oh okay.  If that be truly the case, then my cup runneth over!  Enough! enough, enough.  I am crying uncle here, please I beg, no more.  I will  do anything in exchange; let me be a vessel, Lord -- an instrument of your peace.   Just make it stop.  Take me, I'm all yours...
C'mon, breathe, G.

But no sir ree bob -- I'm not battling to make a life in Syria, nor having to build myself an arc, nor living from day to day on a drip.   So let me be clear -- it's not like I can't find my perspective, or something stupid like that.  

And considering myself totally lucky on this day the Lord has made, hallelujah.

And how!

For America IS exceptional....still. 
And how's that for a rather abrupt about-face?

Sure, we can't see it all too clearly right about now -- but it's there.   It's laying in wait under the surface; it's taking cover from the daily bombardment of shrapnel and fire and brimstone upon our inherent foundation, and taking refuge.

And sometimes  --   it might just take a Russian, a former KGB chief.......cross-checking references now...highly manipulative, systematically perverse, hidden agenda ripe, narcissistic diplomat to remind us.

But before we get into that, let's review:

Obama said Assad had to go (circa 2012)
Obama waited
Obama marked the "red line"
** cue chemical weapons **

Obama calls for military action against Syria!

** a week later **

Obama calls for "limited" military action in his weekly address!
Obama calls for congress to "vote your conscience", f&*% the public
Obama waited for UN
Obama waited for EU
Obama waited for public to grant the A-okay
Obama said "military doesn't do pinpricks"
Obama waited and wrote a speech to take us to war...
but wait... wait a minute...

** cue Kerry gaffe **

Obama, State Department, within minutes walked back Kerry's comments.
but wait...wait a minute...
yeah, yeah, that's the ticket...
** cue Putin **

Obama delays Syria strike, delays vote in congress...
and basically calls the whole thing off.
But wait...wait a minute...

** Obama is OUT! ** 
Hands over the loose ends to Kerry.
Kerry claims "this is not a game" and Syria's efforts must be --
"credible" "comprehensive"  "verifiable"


Oh okay.

I've heard and seen and witnessed enough.

What the hell? 

What a pathetic show of foreign policy acumen all the way around the gaffe and back, no?  We are a laughing stock heard round the world.

Oh and about that gaffe.
What if the reporter, Margaret Brennan of CBS, hadn't asked the question -- then where would we be?  Cue MEDIAite, Andrew Kirell, here.
Now that is a scary thought.

But for a mad, mad world update on the day in Syria and Assad, let's turn to Fox News, here.  Is he playing us?

This part's pretty good though:

The potential strike by the United States against Syria, despite strong opposition from many countries and major political and religious leaders, including the pope, will result in more innocent victims and escalation, potentially spreading the conflict far beyond Syria’s borders. A strike would increase violence and unleash a new wave of terrorism. It could undermine multilateral efforts to resolve the Iranian nuclear problem and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and further destabilize the Middle East and North Africa. It could throw the entire system of international law and order out of balance.



Love how he was able to insert the pope as part of his smearing propaganda campaign.  good skills, comrade.

And for an added bonus, we immediately get a poly-sci lesson on the fly and the sly: 

Syria is not witnessing a battle for democracy, but an armed conflict between government and opposition in a multireligious country.


From a guy who knows a thing or two about nasty, he continues citing:

There are few champions of democracy in Syria. But there are more than enough Qaeda fighters and extremists of all stripes battling the government. The United States State Department has designated Al Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, fighting with the opposition, as terrorist organizations. This internal conflict, fueled by foreign weapons supplied to the opposition, is one of the bloodiest in the world.


This is where he really brings it:

From the outset, Russia has advocated peaceful dialogue enabling Syrians to develop a compromise plan for their own future. We are not protecting the Syrian government, but international law. We need to use the United Nations Security Council and believe that preserving law and order in today’s complex and turbulent world is one of the few ways to keep international relations from sliding into chaos. The law is still the law, and we must follow it whether we like it or not. Under current international law, force is permitted only in self-defense or by the decision of the Security Council. Anything else is unacceptable under the United Nations Charter and would constitute an act of aggression.


That part, "the law is still the law" while addressing a country founded upon the rule of law, acting on behalf of humanity and the rule of law in every possible way, being the face of democracy around the world, is rich, isn't it?

ooooh...and anything else is "unacceptable" and "would constitute an act of aggression..." ruble-kudos to the prince of peace in international relations.

Oh!   and then there is this:

It is alarming that military intervention in internal conflicts in foreign countries has become commonplace for the United States. Is it in America’s long-term interest? I doubt it.


you are good.

But force has proved ineffective and pointless. Afghanistan is reeling, and no one can say what will happen after international forces withdraw. Libya is divided into tribes and clans. In Iraq the civil war continues, with dozens killed each day. In the United States, many draw an analogy between Iraq and Syria, and ask why their government would want to repeat recent mistakes.

No matter how targeted the strikes or how sophisticated the weapons, civilian casualties are inevitable, including the elderly and children, whom the strikes are meant to protect.



Because in fact, we have no idea what kind of strikes -- it's somewhere between "our military doesn't do pin pricks" and "unbelievably small, limited" military strikes -- your guess is as good as mine.  And really now, a death is a death is a death -- whether it be by BB gun or sarin gas, right?  But I digress.

So without further adieu, let's hit the big finish, shall we?

My working and personal relationship with President Obama is marked by growing trust. I appreciate this. I carefully studied his address to the nation on Tuesday. And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.


Oh we've come a long way since the day Obama was caught on the open mic with the former Russian President Medvedev...flexibility in negotiations meet the latest rude reception.

"I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism," he said.


"It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation...We are all different, but when we ask the Lord's blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal."


First, love that twist and play with all of us being created equal; exceptional use of the American ideal, to be sure.  Check mate.

But here's the thing -- from just a girl with love to Putin on the ritz cracker:

When we speak, in America, of America's exceptionalism, we are speaking in terms of the inherent foundation from which all good, all power, all understanding comes; it's an enigma, really.   From the acts of our founding fathers, we gained a way of life, an attitude, a Rule of Law, a free market, a certain self-reliance second to none.  NO OTHER country has what we have!  And that especially holds true for you, Russia.  It was, and IS, AMERICA who has declared "these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness!"   Not Russia.

It is our pursuit of happiness, under God, that is of value to our society, if not the entire world, and anyone who holds such truths near and dear, respective of the ideals, the duties, the principles set forth, understands this dynamic through and through.  Russia doesn't have that.  Have you wondered where all your people are going lately, and why?    What the hell, to the second power.

Due to the varied influences upon the individual -- one's will, will power, choices, complete with faults and natural talents and successes and education and experience --  surely the quality of the individual is subject to change.   But it is America, as a whole, that is truly exceptional.  It's about what we stand for in its entirety that makes us remarkably special, beckoning people from all over the world to come and build a life.

Over the years, we, the people, have diluted the mission and the message back behind our own exceptionalism -- misrepresenting what it truly means, and simultaneously, compromising upon our duty to God and country.

But with regard to America's exceptionalism -- you have no idea what you are talking about, Put Put.
And we get a self-righteous, hidden agenda laden, smack down on exceptionalism from you?


Government is much like a torrential rain, a disease running amok in the body, or a bloody civil war between societal factions too many to count --

"Government is not reason,
it is not eloquence --
it is force! 
 Like fire,
it is a dangerous servant
and a fearful master."

Just a little George Washington thrown in for good measure; thereby placing into context the rule of good government from our founders, and fully elaborated in one of my favorite reads, The 5000 Year Leap.   W. Cleon Skousen explains for us, "[T]he founders looked upon "government" as a volatile instrument of explosive power which must necessarily be harnessed within the confines of a strictly interpreted Constitution, or it would destroy the very freedom it was designed to preserve."

A little rain is a good thing.

A little upset tummy, harmless.

And government  -- a force of good or evil --  is not reason; it's a force, always.

It is conceived naturally, organically, Organized for Action from the grassroots even -- and quite possibly going something like this: "when in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another..."

Oh, no time to delve into the ironies, the use of propaganda to sway public opinion, let alone the frailties of human nature who find comfort in being led, especially on behalf of the quintessential good cause every now and again.

It's For the Whole Human Race Thing

Dear America,


the eagle has landed...

in Latin America.

Ahead of his visit, the welcome wagon included May Day protests burning President Obama in effigy, and basically, asking him to go home before he even got there.  Take a look, here.

The president's intentions during his three-day-tour --

"There's so much more to the relationship - in terms of commerce, in terms of trade, in terms of energy. And so we want to highlight some of the close cooperation that's already been taking place and to continue to build on that, so that we're creating more jobs and more opportunity on both sides of the borders."


Much like President Obama's annual State of the Union address,  his all too predictable modus operandi to effect change by nudge or by judge, the never ending campaigns to force his fundamental transformation from the inside out  -- the perpetual propagandist-in-chief that he is --  his intention over the next three days is to diminish America's significance while elevating everything Latina  in order to raise the conversation and "[cover] competiveness, education and innovation, along with border infrastructure, commerce, migration and citizen security among other subjects of shared interest."   It's sort of a mutually assured destruction kind of thing.

But you know -- you would think --- if Latin America is, in fact, America's "backyard" as according to our very own Secretary of State, John Kerry --   you would think all of this would be a non-issue, no?  Like    Mi Casa es Su Casa.  Mi puerta trasera es su puerta trasera.  

Oh. 
Oops.

And what gives?  Sure hope he's there to get reimbursed.

Has Obama already run out of venues here in the states to force feed his agenda down our throats, in a nanny state meets mother bird kind of way?  

Has Obama traveled through the streets of east L.A., Barrio Logan, or any of the many barrios and gang territories riddled throughout the landscape of the sunshine state that isn't Florida?  Aw hell, let's go ahead and look at Florida, too.   Eureka! 

Has Obama studied the demographics of our prisons? 

Has Obama recognized the actual costs of welfare, food stamps, medical care as it directly pertains to the growth of illegal immigrant homesteads throughout the nation?

Is Obama that out of touch?   [Rumor has it, he is...see here.]

[In the olden days, immigrants could come to America only if they had a sponsor waiting for them, never becoming a financial burden upon the citizens of this country.] 


But that's not even the half of it -- when searching for articles on all this -- take a guess as to which media entity popped up first.   Aljazeera!

Yes, indeed.  Those quotes up top came from a post written by Mike Allison, courtesy of Aljazeera online, the English version.

It's a fascinating read from the "associate professor of Political Science department at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania" considering it includes this commentary:

"The US is in no position today, nor has it really even been, to lecture the people of Mexico and Central America on democracy and human rights. Gridlock in the US Congress, drone-enabled killings without due process for enemy combatants, even if they are US citizens, the ongoing embarrassment that is Guantanamo Bay, and its wavering support for democracy in Honduras, are only four recent issues that undermine US authority to speak out on human rights and democracy."


oh okay, Mike.  Now I understand appearing on an outlet like Aljazeera, a certain point of view is probably expected if publication is the goal, but honestly... "[T]he US is in no position today, nor has it really ever been, to lecture the people of Mexico and Central America on democracy and human rights?"  Is that your final answer?

Is the view from Scranton that bad?   While your red lines drawn between what is deemed prevention, intervention, and convention seems blurry, at best; perhaps you should check the lens -- where was it made?  Or maybe it just needs polished.


The thing is,
no longer are we enamored with what it took to get here; the shiny glittery illuminations lodged between the twigs and leaves seem to be losing their luster.

We are no longer aware, cognizant, of the wealth of nations who walked the earth before us, from which we found our way; the founders dug deep back in the day in order to unearth the best of government, civility, morality, in an effort to profoundly lay the foundation to build a new world not necessarily by man, but by Divine Providence.

America was the first of it's kind.

Where is the John Adams of today? 

"I always consider the settlement of America with reverence and wonder, as the opening of a grand scene and design in Providence for the illumination of the ignorant, and the emancipation of the slavish part of mankind all over the earth."


The Alexander Hamilton's --

"It has been frequently remarked that it seems to have been reserved to the people of this country, by their conduct and example, to decide the important question, whether societies of men are capable or not of establishing good government from reflection and choice, or whether they are forever destined to depend for their political constitutions on accident and force."


The John Jay's -- 

"With equal pleasure I have often taken notice that Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people -- a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs, and who, by their joint counsel, arms, and efforts, fighting side by side throughout a  long and bloody war, have nobly established their general liberty and independence...


This country and this people seem to have been made for each other, and it appears as if it was the design of Providence that an inheritance so proper and convenient for a band of brethren, united to each other by the strongest ties, should never be split into a number of unsocial, jealous, and alien sovereignties."  (Federalist Papers, No. 2, pg. 38, plucked from the pages of The 5000 Year Leap, by W. It's funny, Bolivia can kick people out, effective immediately; (kinda unrelated, but timely) North Korea can arrest and sentence an American on suspect charges -- condemned to 15 years of hard labor -- if only to egg us on (because the threat of annihilation by nuclear weapon of every country within range is not enough);  to enter Singapore -- "Entry requirements for immigration to Singapore for foreigners are a valid travel document (6 months minimum), a return ticket or entry facilities to the next destination and sufficient funds to stay in Singapore."   

While here's an interesting exchange to humanize what it takes to immigrate to Mexico -- even though it's old news via CNN (circa 2010):

BLITZER: So if people want to come from Guatemala or Honduras or El Salvador or Nicaragua, they want to just come into Mexico, they can just walk in?
CALDERON: No. They need to fulfill a form. They need to establish their right name. We analyze if they have not a criminal precedent. And they coming into Mexico. Actually…
BLITZER: Do Mexican police go around asking for papers of people they suspect are illegal immigrants?
CALDERON: Of course. Of course, in the border, we are asking the people, who are you?
And if they explain…
BLITZER: At the border, I understand, when they come in.
CALDERON: Yes.
BLITZER: But once they’re in…
CALDERON: But not — but not in — if — once they are inside the — inside the country, what the Mexican police do is, of course, enforce the law. But by any means, immigration is a crime anymore in Mexico.
BLITZER: Immigration is not a crime, you’re saying?
CALDERON: It’s not a crime.
BLITZER: So in other words, if somebody sneaks in from Nicaragua or some other country in Central America, through the southern border of Mexico, they wind up in Mexico, they can go get a job…
CALDERON: No, no.
BLITZER: They can work.
CALDERON: If — if somebody do that without permission, we send back — we send back them

to gain popularity and buy the Hispanic voting block in the light of day,
to make promises and intentions known that ultimately jeopardize our nation's unity, our nation's principles, our nation's security, our nation's economic future,
ever
so
slowly,
to necessarily chip away at the integrity of the eagle's nest.

Oh, you doubt?

It's Just Two Things -- with a Cowardly, Twisted, Perverted Lift at the End -- Thing

Dear America,


Couple of Things

we have some extraordinary things being said these days, and it's especially disconcerting considering who is saying them.

But first, how would you answer this question?

"Sir, with the problem we have that young people go to Syria (inaudible), does that matter also to the U.S., do you have the same problem?"


From John Kerry, our brand spanking new Secretary of State:

"Well, of course we have the same problem. We just had a young person who went to Russia, Chechnya, who blew people up in Boston. So he didn’t stay where he went, but he learned something where he went and he came back with a willingness to kill people.


I think the world has had enough of people who have no belief system, no policy for jobs, no policy for education, no policy for rule of law, but who just want to kill people because they don’t like what they see. NO BELIEF SYSTEM, Mr. Kerry?

These people have a belief system; their belief system is so radical, it falls outside whatever it is that the "moderate Muslims" believe.   Their belief system is built upon a religious foundation that follows the lead from the likes of extremist Sheiks and Imams, and fully committed to spreading radicalized teachings of Islam and impressing upon the minds of young Muslims to grow up to be martyrs for Allah.   To kill the infidels is the belief system that takes the young radicalized Islamic martyr to heaven.  But thanks for making America look like doh-doh's.

AND now to our Vice President...at the Memorial Service a couple of days ago he called these boys Tsarnaev this -- “two cowardly, twisted, perverted knockoff jihadis.”

For starters, comments like that just feed the proverbial "jihadis" fire, Mr. Joe Bozo.  But in all your years, have you not learned a thing from reading the highly confidential, highly classified material while getting your daily intelligence reports?  This is how homegrown jihad is done.  Have you seen the open markets, bars and restaurants, and buses, and cars getting blown to smithereens in Iraq, Pakistan, and wherever else, by maybe one, or a couple of, cowardly, twisted, perverted knockoff jihadis?

And this choice of words -- how do you arrive at "knock-off" after they were able to pull it off --  having blown up Boston and, knowing now, having spontaneously decided on the fly to head on over to New York City? 

"Knockoff" my ass -- there he goes again....immediately dismissing them like a knockoff Prada; making them sound as if they are half the jihadi they want to be --  definitely under par, and certainly, not of the same caliber as other Jihadists.  Um Mr. VP of everything -- considering the real life outcome -- they turned out to be the real deal, the genuine article, a bona fide homegrown resurgence of going Jihad in every possible way. 

How you escape handsomely from another gaffe narrowly shaving the ears, yet again, is beyond me.

And cowardly?

Are they?  Are they cowards? Or are they just living the Islamic dream?  

I mean, when these two manage to muster the courage to carry two bombs through the streets of Boston -- in a backpack, no less -- and then have the guts the both of them blow up, whether they go down with the pressure cookers, or not.   That takes some ball bearings, no?    Who does that... outside of the movies, or the Middle East, that is?

Of course, the "twisted, perverted" part is spot on, so gotta give you props for that, so rock on with that big, bad Biden self.    [but speaking of twisted, pompous arrogance... can't help but notice how brave you are to speak your mind like that, at the altar and all, knowing that you'll never have to defend yourself and the message up against the rest of the Jihadists in the field, the killing fields, and just waiting in the wings on the side of the road right now for their chance to shine and make Allah happy.  Words like that will travel the social media world wide virtually overnight.  So clearly, our boys and girls in uniform will have to muster the courage to meet that responsibility, that duty...which, lucky for us, just so happens to be just another day's work for them.  oooh-rah!]

But thank you, really.  No, really, thank you, Joe.

For what you have done, in a bloody instant, is grant credibility to Jihadists even existing.  Up until now, this administration has been so careful with what they call it, what it looks like.   But thanks to you, the Jihadi cause, their mission, the caliphate, is all real.  Evil is alive and well and looks like radicalized Jihad in the day to day.   Terrorism --  and the radicalized, extremist, Islamic, Jihadist terrorist that make it -- is a real thing.

Only thing is, according to you, Joe --  the brothers Tsarnaev -- they were just "cowardly, twisted, perverted, knockoff Jihadis'" -- a Jihadist of  a different color.   They don't really count because they did it on their own, and without being 'formally commissioned' from a known terrorist organization.  

They were just "knock-off[s]."   So much so, how can we take them seriously, right?
    
While don't forget the gist of the comforting words from the president (highlighted just a couple of days ago) -- the tide is receding; Al Queda no longer carries the same punch.  They got nothin'.  They have no leader, so just how could they manage to prevail and keep it up much longer?

If these two boys, just struggling to fit, yet fully capable of throwing together a couple of bombs in their kitchen can do it --  this!  --  anybody can.  I wonder how many people have tried to find the Inspire magazine's article detailing pressure cooker bombs DIY project since the Boston bombing?

As Glenn Beck has pointed out -- 75,000 "students" from Islamic countries have settled in on American college campuses; but the kicker -- roughly 15,000 of them don't even show up for class.  Hmm. Wonder what they do all day?

You see,  the truth is -- Jihadists plan on knocking all of us off -- one by one if they have to -- and don't think twice about it.   And they truly believe Allah wants them to do it.

No belief system...

Cowardly, twisted, perverted, knockoff Jihadis...

Really?

Seriously?

After over a decade of being at war against a belief system fixated on the extreme  and this is where we are?

.....with our very own Secretary of State believing they just need to be better educated and get a job...more concerned about listening to Jihadi feelings.... believing that all we need to do is be more open to talking with them... and basically "do a better job of communicating to people what the options of life are. Now THAT ties for the most cowardly, twisted, perverted....dumbest thing I have heard in the last two days.

Clearly, it's official, people -- there is a new language in America --  it's called Gibberish;  it sounds an awful lot like bull&%* --  only with a cowardly, twisted, perverted lift at the end of every word. 

With that, now to the kitchen I wander --  for I have a pressure cooker and know how to use it.

It's a War Thing

Dear America,

Maybe it's just me -- but I would sure love to return to the day our military strategy didn't include telegraphing our plans out to the entire world months in advance.

I believe a little mystery in this area is being highly underrated, what in this era of WikiLeaks and other bone heads, who's sole mission is to undermine high braid strategies, jeopardizing our sacred troops on the ground, and what not -- isn't this mode of secrecy still sacrosanct in the eyes of our fearless leaders?

Wouldn't it be nice to return to a time when the internet did not report the downsizing of troops twenty four hours before our president?

I mean, seriously, would it not be music to our ears, if tonight, when our president is facing the nation, that he might just say something like this:  'after careful review with the leaders of our fine military, we [not I] have updated our short range and long range plan...and it is really good....but tonight, for all of you out there in the world listening, I am choosing not to say a word about it...nah nahnah nah nah (and proceed to stick out his tongue here)...God Bless, and have a good night everybody .'

Even just a girl recognizes how much keeping secrets is just as much a tactic as it is policy.

But what do I know?

And if all this was not enough these days -- orchestrating the full drawback in Iraq and leaving them to fend for themselves, while calculating our every move we make in Afghanistan (the Good War),and while dropping drones in Pakistan and Yemen -- we are now expected to support Libyan rebels, even when we have no idea who they really are (or do we? ....hm...maybe the secret is 'on us'...what?  what conspiracy?).

But low and behold, here we are, on the verge of committing to authorizing "kinetic military action" and billions of dollars -- what?   for the next year?  Are you kidding me?  And that question going out to the oddest political couple known to man -- Kerry and McCain -- the latest two-some I like to call the DINO & RINO Show.   Who would ever believe it, an anti-war guy entangled with a prisoner of war guy, and each using the power of political persuasion for their own purpose....coming together....isn't it just groovy.

I can't keep up with the truth to tell you the truth.  And to think we thought summer had something to do with it, for on the west coast, here in California especially, we seem to be running in short supply of Flip Flops and Kool-Aid -- but now we know.

But all these twists and turns of the narrative continues to fascinate me to no end:  it's not a war, it is Kinetic Military Action (and running counter to popular belief, it is also absent of hostilities); it's not a tax, it is a penalty (Obamacare); it's not sex (oh gee, do we really have to go there?).

How will our president define the good war and our mission tonight?  Are we done?  Are we there yet?  With the bin Laden wind at his back, what will the narcissistic Commander-in-Chief say now?  It's all about packaging, timing, and re-packaging, you know.

And speaking of which, on this glorious day in America, get a load of that corroded lung on the shiny new packs of ciggies.  Now, admittedly, I have no dog in the hunt -- as a non-smoker I could not care less.  I just find it funny, in my own warped little head of mine, that this kind of boot to the throat tactic really works.

But what intrigues me even more, is the question of what's next -- you know, is that policy for everything from now on?  Will we see aborted 12 week old babies on the packages of Plan B or the Abortion pill?  Will we begin to see 600 lb. junk food fanatics on the sides of boxes of Twinkies and Whoppie Pies?  Will an image of a rotting, stinking, dirty mouth come with every Hershey Bar and Coca-Cola?  just sayin' -- where do we draw the line and who draws that line in the first place, the left or the right foot?

And really, how do we really know if these pictures of horror were not just part of a convoluted vicious scheme of the power elite to get the president off the smokes for good, under a roll your own nicotine withdrawal program of the highest order, and stat?

These are fair questions (well, maybe not the last one).

Politicizing issues when politics has no business belonging, penalizing one industry over another, deciding which wars are good and which wars are bad outside the boundaries of our inherent master plan and foundation -- painstakingly masterminded by our founders -- and basically upending the spirit of sound self-government under a limited federal government in every way,  all of which really have no business living to see another day here in America, land of the free and home of the bravest soldiers on earth.

The thing is, just maybe a return to one of our first intentions is in order -- just maybe, with one fell swoop across the board, a return to an age old doctrine is the mandate on the day; and it goes something like this: "Mind Your Own Business."

Yesterday was all about recognizing that which comes lock, stock and barrel with our rights are a whole host of duties (many, of which, we are inclined these days to fully ignore).  But if we were to really do more of minding our own business, in every way in this country, our societal woes and international entanglements may not entirely go away -- but I do believe I can say with certainty, the possibility of being able to control our own response with personal accountability, to navigate the road ahead with a clear head, backed by our natural duties as a people, and going so far as to set forth a return to the spirit of isolationism, complete with a global conscience, fit for the new age of international relations, would each return to rule the day.

All at once, we can remind each other of our duty to mind our own business -- to be of good character, to be of sound mind, to be of economic independence, to be of kind heart, to be of good cheer, to be of personal honor and integrity every day.

All at once -- and carrying this spirit out to business and industry -- we can be reminded that the less government intervention and regulation, the freer a people are to prosper and make their own happiness.

All at once -- and carrying this same spirit out to the entire world -- we can be reminded to protect our own fair land, first and foremost.  A task that requires us to not only lead by example, keeping up admirable perceptions and realities all over the globe, but to do so while we pay even closer attention to the things of greater importance here at home.

It is a delicate balance this whole 'mind your own business' sort of thing.

There are a number of landmines for a president in this speech tonight; aside from the duty of sounding presidential, like a man in charge, one who completely understands the magnitude of the task at hand as he stands before all Americans -- he must also stand firm in his ability to portray America more strong-willed, headstrong, and capable than the Taliban, and to that end, as a force to be reckoned with, able-bodied and ready and willing to go the distance (defining cold hard core threat). 

The difficulty arises when faced with a stunning flip of reality -- this president is in the midst of having nearly every poll in America telling him to bug out now, like yesterday.   For after the last ten years -- and having short sighted hindsight being what it is -- the entire episode is now being perceived as a misguided disaster if we were to continue as so.  Public opinion to hunker down for as long as it takes on this one is in real short supply (used to be on the same shelf with the flip flops and kool-aid). 

Now, if it were me, I would simply tell the nation, 'I got this one, trust me  -- and trust me even more when I say, I can't tell you what in fact we are going to do.  It is a big fat secret.  Can you dig?'

[and he would say so with far more eloquence, no doubt -- and just in case the situation dictates, that part where I ask 'can you dig' is no racial dig, okay, so let me beat you to that punch right now.  that is just G being me, getting jiggy wit it... only now, sensing that things are beginning to deteriorate rapidly here...kinda like a reason for a surge or a reason to take away a surge... let's get back to the biznet...]

So yeah, yeah.  I would simply fall back on the War Powers Act, you know -- I mean, how many of us have actually read it, in its entirety?  Huh?  Especially when we know it is common practice for even our own legislators not to read the itty bitty details of resolutions far and wide -- how could we expect that, after all, some are like two thousand pages long.   So how would we know; how would we really know if a code of honor surrounding secrecy is enumerated or not.   Keeping things on the down low should be the way this president goes, that's all.

I should have gone to war college. may that be my only regret.
