It's Not an Easy Breezy Covergirl Kind of Day Thing

Dear America,

I was channel surfing Saturday morning just to have some noise in the background as I cleaned when I heard this:  "wealth comes from freedom, not force."

Amen, Jonathan Hoenig.  He is the Managing Member of private investment partnership, and runs CAPITALISTPIG ASSET MANAGEMENT LLC, easily found @capitalistpig.com.

The thing is, on this happy Monday morning --  this notion of freedom vs. force, is at the bottom of the Affordable Care Act slop.  And it is slop.

Nobody disagrees with the early signs of benefits from the Affordable Care Act -- you know, things like keeping kids on your plan until they reach the age of 26, outlawing the issue of pre-existing conditions, just to name a couple of our favorites.

And yet, NONE of these things (and a whole bevy of others) required our Congress to pass a 3,000 page behemoth health care law, enacting the greatest tax increase in twenty years, paving the way to another massive government controlled entitlement only accomplished through the turbulent waves of pure, full force.

None.  These things -- the very things we like -- are regulatory changes and do not require a new entitlement.

Now, the issues that necessitated a congressional leg up can be found beyond the boundaries of this unconscionable law -- things like, allowing the individual to purchase health insurance across state lines, opening up real health insurance competition; allowing the individual to keep their insurance when leaving a company, and enacting real TORT reform throughout the industry.

These things are the real pre-existing conditions that have yet to see the light of day with a resolution.

As we have learned over the last few days, Chief Justice John Roberts turned to the P.P. principle to back his answer.  Politics and Perception.   Two things that surely don't belong within the realm of the Supreme Court and suffice it to say, set in motion a lifting of the leg on the American people.  [oh g, do you have to be so crass?   um, yeah, I do]

Here's some backup for you.  From CBS of all places....read this.

Roberts' opinion was swayed by the left wing by a soft, unyielding force.  Roberts was less committed to protecting the people's freedom and more committed to crafting a decision protecting the perceptions of the high court.   Now talk about  unconstitutional.  He took an oath for pete's sake.

Now just before the weekend I heard something simply astounding.  Now, I don't always listen to this guy, but when I do, I am never disappointed -- it's all about the rush we get, the tingle up our leg:  Rush Limbaugh outlined just how unlawful this decision by the Supreme Court really is...beginning with the idea, they never should have heard the case in the first place!

I will go as quickly through as I can -- first, upon opening day of the oral arguments, the court asked the government 'is this a tax?'; they said no.  The court appointed their own attorney to investigate further, to prove if whether or not it is in fact a tax, and they said 'no.'  we are free to proceed....

So why all the fuss?

Because of something called the anti-injunction act -- the court cannot take up the argument until AFTER such time the tax has been implemented [in this case, not until AFTER 2014].  The SCOTUS should have stopped right there if in fact we were all discussing "a tax."

So fast forward through the proverbial supreme court pipeline -- and now we actually get a decision solely based upon it being a tax?  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Now, not only that -- but apparently, you can't have a penalty (now morphed into a tax) be higher than the actual cost of doing something (purchasing the health insurance).

According to the Affordable Care Act, which is now the law, the 'mandate = penalty = tax' INCREASES over time, nudging people -- forcing people -- to acquire health insurance through a tax punishment.

From the National Review, a rose-colored breakdown of the decision by the Attorney General of Virginia, Kenneth Cuccinelli included this:

"Another thing to note is that Chief Justice Roberts’s opinion on the taxing power is limited. He noted that it could not be considered punitive because the amount citizens are required to pay for not having insurance is far less than they would have to pay to obtain insurance. He strongly suggests that, if Congress were to require citizens to pay an amount greater than the costs of insurance, that would constitute a penalty, and thus would be unconstitutional. "
Please read more, go here.

well well, Mr. Cuccinelli, lookie here...the grounds -- which are not of sand -- for your next lawsuit with the Supreme Court.  I would get right on that...the punitive damages against the American people are set in motion.

I found a decent rough sketch of some of the new taxation, go here.

A highlight:    "In 2014, the penalty will be no more than $285 per family or 1% of income, whichever is greater. In 2015, the cap rises to $975 or 2% of income. And by 2016, the penalty would be up to $2,085 per family or 2.5% of income, whichever is greater."  (you will be happy to note, it rises with inflation thereafter).  And it's not just about the individual, or the family -- the states have their own set of mandates -- and just where does that money come from?  yes.  back to you and me.

For another take, go to The Daily Ticker here.

News Break: The waves of freedom are currently sloppy and choppy.

Freedom is not free in any way, shape or form -- and on a day like this, nor is it easy breezy cover girl.

But HISTORY proves that FORCE is way less fun and far more costly.  way.
whoa dude.
cowabunga to me.

Make it a Good Day, G

It's a Tax Thing...how is your European Summer Vacation Going?

Dear America,

It's a wee bit premature, but upon first blush of what just happened today ---

  • IT is a TAX (no more hiding it, Mr. President)
  • IT is still NOT fully paid for!  (CBO will have to re-calculate it)
  • IT is FRAUD, spoon-fed to us courtesy of Nancy Pelosi's Congress and the Obama Administration
  • IT is OVERREACH of the federal government
  • IT is grounds for impeachment of President Obama, based upon the fraud, lies and manipulation to the American people (and just among numerous other things he has done from the executive branch)
  • IT opens up a brand new argument on behalf of the people -- because it is now considered a tax and worthy of a brand new fight FOR the people.  The real battle has only just begun.
and as our Chief Justice John Roberts duly noted:

  • “Because the Constitution permits such a tax, it is not our role to forbid it, or to pass upon its wisdom or fairness."

let's see... what else...

  • IT emboldens Americans who sit upon the other side of this decision to send a clear and effective message come November ...
  • IT actually works in ROMNEY'S favor....
  • IT gives fiduciary support to have ourselves another rendition of the Boston Tea Party, but in the Potomac
  • IT demands President Obama to recognize HIS law, the "Affordable Care Act," for what it is:  A TAX!
  • IT goes against the view of 67% of Americans (and then, you give us ALL a brand new tax to deal with? -- the middle class included? -- excuse me?  this number of 67% will jump by the end of the day)
  • IT is official -- our entry into Socialism USA is upon us; and sadly, we are on the precipice of ending our Republic just days before celebrating our nation's birthday.
Other than that, it is a good day for America -- of course, we will all know more as time goes by...cuz, you know, that whole thing about 'we gotta pass it to know what's in it' just keeps on ticking.

can't wait to hear what our president says... in just about an hour from now....

until then, G's got some reading to do...here's a link to the full text of the decision (through a link from MSNBC just for twisted kicks)

Make it a Good Day, G

guess you didn't realize we all signed up for a European vacation for the rest of our lives, huh?

what's next -- what else will you demand us all to buy, or else?  hybrid cars, not clunkers, for everyone -- but buy a gas guzzler and get taxed at a higher rate?
or how about this -- how else will the nanny state manage and modify and nudge us in our everyday human behavior?...oh right, we are already getting  a no-food-value-added tax for soda and sugar products...
... but will fat people get a larger tax than the skinny people?
...will smokers be required to cough up more than the non-smoker?
...how will they really make it FAIR for everyone?
THIS open-ended opinion on the ability for the government to use the system of taxation leaves America vulnerable to all kinds of craziness.  Tyranny is a fine way to start the day, isn't it?!

THIS IS AN UNPRECEDENTED HOT MESS.

God Bless US one and all.

oh and just in case anybody really cares -- unemployment numbers still suck.

It's a Chasing Pavements Kinda Day Thing

Dear America,

so if you are one of the two people who follow G, you would know this girl loves to carry a theme for a day or two or five...

So, you know that feeling when you have a pit in your stomach when watching Hoarders on TLC?  That should be how we all feel right now, being on the outside looking in on this debt ceiling debate/how 'bout we just add 2.4 trillion dollars to our bottom line without a care in the world. [weren't here just yesterday? then you would have no idea the connection, but continue, please]

Sure.  The president wants us/congress to give him 2.4 trillion dollars more credit -- to save about "4 trillion" OVER TEN F#%&^&g YEARS.  He thinks that is the most prudent use of the people's money...yeah, like that's a good idea.

Now quickly... doing the math in my little old head before another brainiac idea comes to his mind -- the wise one wants 2.4 T to add to our current debt, while knowing his current deficit for this fiscal year alone is @ another 1.5 T -- when you add 2.4 plus 1.5 we get 3.9 trillion dollars... OVER ONE f&*#%$g YEAR..

Which brings to mind, it's a good job if you can get it [and this just in, even the "GANG of SIX" is leaning this direction...reminiscent of G's gangbang'r day]

[and just so you know right out of the gate...the ride with this girl today will be like riding a wild mustang...unpredictable and virtually, totally, untamed]

Now, talk about G carrying on on a theme -- today is OPENING DAY at the races here in Del Mar.  It was two years ago TOMORROW...upon the very first "Day After"... that this girl jumped into the blogosphere.  It just so happened to also be a "day after" a big speech on Health Care from the president...but details, shmeetails.  It's all about me for these two seconds....one one thousand, two one thousand...

Moving on.org.

Let's talk about this Hoarding America some more...we haven't even entered the era of being gravely afflicted with the real costs of the "Affordable Care Act" -- we are still like two years away!  The trillion dollar "Affordable Care Act"  -- the oxymoron of the century busting out of the new age -- is yet to start taxing us, charging us, penalizing us, and costing us; and costing us a plenty.

And apparently, the "80% of Americans" [see Lie #19 on this link to the "American Thinker"]-- according to the Chief Pollster and certified king on the fly -- are all over this "bi-partisan" "balanced" approach to our debt and deficits, just like they were all over the president's affordable health care legislation, I'm sure.

Just how does he keep doing it and getting away with it, is what I want to know.  It's like he just pulls a number out of his head and thinks, gosh, that sounds like I know what I'm talking about.

G note to self (along with anyone else who might care to listen)  If that same hypothetical "80%" worked the numbers on health care just two years ago, they would have recognized the shoddy math pulling it all together -- I mean, stealing 500 Billion from Medicare to help pay for it just for starters...Where were all these people screaming about hands off my medicare then?  Especially when Sebelius -- UNDER OATH -- admittedly reported that she counted that same 500 B's twice!   I mean, it's impossible to even make this stuff up.
Haven't we learned anything? The federal government has become a master at hiding the ugly truth -- thoroughly masking the horrid details under some kind of pragmatic facade, masterminding the ideological shift away from self-reliance, and effectively throwing all future generations six feet under before their little lives even begin.  Running like any other 'credit worthy' bureaucracy, details the people will never ever know are safely and efficiently manipulated deep into the fine print.

While once something becomes designated worthy and subsequently placed into the system, it never ever never goes away, ever!  We just continue hoarding ourselves into oblivion -- through massive social reforms, under huge bureaucracies of paper pushers, adding hundreds of thousands of new government employees, headed under thousands of agencies and programs and departments and czars.

ARE YOU F^%#^&g kidding me?!  Oh no! G is not being out of line, I am just channeling a vice president from the good ole days, when something became a BIG f#^$%g Deal.  (remember that day with G...now THAT was a good day).

This country is being buried under complete Bull Shit; and it is just wrong every which way to Sunday and back.

And don't get me wrong, like any decent hoarder -- the upkeep is usually condoned by a co-dependent or two.  It's not like it is the democrats fault any more than it is the republicans fault [even though, having said that, a sharp critical mind would recognize the exponential growth of the debt and deficits over the last three years is a wee bit different...I mean, we just can't add a trillion dollar stimulus, a trillion dollar banking bailout, a trillion dollar health care bill,  while adding "kinetic military action" in Libya and Pakistan and Yemen to two wars -- when we can't afford to pay for what we already got in unfunded liabilities in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid -- each of which are on a trajectory of certain death].

But like I said, co-dependent relationships giving creative license to keep on keeping on, even if it will ultimately kill us, seems receptive only on deaf ears.

The thing is, even a baby has more juevos rancheros to negotiate better, reminding myself of a favorite imagination of a truly brilliant mind:

"Infancy conforms to nobody;
all conform to it;
so that one babe
commonly makes four or five
out of the adults who prattle and play to it."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Indeed.

How the populace of a certain congress begins to all look alike, no?

Quickly conforming to a false cultural belief before standing firm on self-reliance, even if it is just their own -- what a sham.  How our founders must be viewing the antics from upstairs in total, gut-wrenching, utter disgust...either that, or they have turned us off altogether, tuning into re-runs of Hoarders in Hulu Heaven, more fascinated by the mischief of human nature wreaking havoc upon a segment of society who clearly knows not what they do or how to stop.  Thanks to TLC, at least then, it appears more like entertainment than real life.

Mitch McConnell just makes me ill; and just like my first sentiment on the day -- that sickening feeling we should all be feeling right about now (at least 80% of us anyway) -- to the point, that at times, being unable to watch a second longer -- THAT is how I feel listening to this Senator.  He personifies a political hack that should be gone by now.

If virtue is it's own reward, than the opposite affect must be a sad, sad thing to behold.

How can any republican support the soft tyranny running amuck within this administration?

America is leaning towards SOCIALISM in every way -- since when is this ideology American, let alone okay?

"Socialism is the philosophy of failure,
the creed of ignorance,
and the gospel of envy,
its inherent virtue
is the equal sharing of misery."
Winston Churchill

just allowing the hoarding to continue, simply closing our eyes when we walk in the door, doesn't change a thing.

Which reminds me of another good day in G land, when lamenting "if all is not well, than it's not the end"...awaiting a flourishing finish.

and yet it is the end of this day, which just so happens to be opening day at the Del Mar Race Track ...and away they go...(gotta say it with an accent kinda like a Rupert Murdoch)

Make it a Good Day, G

my money's on pink.

fyi...G Thing title on the day has more to do with the overall mood...supported by another new favorite song, by Adele...just click on the title and you, too, can get into the mood.

Dear America,

you're right Jesse, as in Jackson, it is about a difference in ideology; you got me. them. whomever. whatever.

Although I beg to differ on each and every one of them, I couldn't help notice you left out a few.

They'll also support:

-- the right to life

-- the de-funding of the UNfunded, UNconstitutional liability enacted illegally under the "afforable care act"

-- the continuing receipt of paychecks and supplies to our courageous boys/girls, presently fighting three wars, without the illogical, unconscionable, ideological interruption -- by the passing of an interim CR on behalf of the clear and present danger on multiple continents, but that which our "Commander In Chief" deems a "distraction" to the debate. (a debate he only popped into in the last 48 hours)

speaking of which, Mr. oops I did it again President made another curtain call late last night, and in effect, told us nothing new (again) by saying:

"...just completed another meeting
...we've made some additional progress this evening...
those differences have been narrowed.
still,
a few issues
that are important to both sides
...further along than yesterday.
now, less than 30 hours away...
800,000 families...
they,
suddenly,
are not allowed to come to work...
we then have millions more...
impacted...FHA loans...passport...
seeing money lost or opportunities lost.
again, 800,000 federal workers impacted
millions more, businesses, farmers, veterans...
that's what's at stake.
[quoting an economist]
'mount very quickly..greater the odds for a renewed recession.'
IT is because of the narrative of a shutdown
starting to move,
I EXPECT
an answer in the morning...
meaningful cuts,
living within our means,
preserving [winning the future]."

Leader in Chief
second verse, same as the first, everybody now

Precedence tells us our President does two things really well -- he waits to the last minute to speak up or he jumps to conclusions.  In this instance, he completes both, with his usual mojo leading the way; and sees all outcomes as a win-win for him.  Either way, he believes he has thought this one through -- through and through; and comes up with the ends justifying the means, regardless.

He is basically partying like it's 1999 -- or rather, '95?

But really, what kind of president holds our military hostage for an unknown length of time, even after entering the United States into a third war (not to mention, one that is totally misguided and misunderstood)... who does that?

And really, what kind of president is elected on the wings and a prayer he would be truly different, but after all that's been said and undone over the last two years, still acts as if he is above it all when he wants to be, but a radical when he needs to be, and yet, takes the middle of the road, milquetoast approach more often than not... who does that?

Fresh from my happy place this morning came word from Mark Alexander, of The Patriot Post (the entire read linked just two sentences up):

"However, the outcome of the current debate is much more than a budget agreement for next year and the next decade: It will determine whether our nation will avert systemic economic collapse or collide with it head-on, plunging us into the most significant National Security Crisis since 1860, and condemning our posterity to the inevitable institution of socialism and the abject tyranny that accompanies it.

If a majority of our countrymen are not able to distinguish between the veracity of this grave assertion and political playbook hyperbole, the consequences for the next generation of Americans will be grim as the light of Liberty fades."

"condemning our posterity  to the inevitable institution of socialism and the abject tyranny that accompanies it."  oh my...I had to make it pink just to help me breathe again.  What, pray tell, are we doing here people?

Make sure you hook up with Alexander's Essay on"The Most Perilous National Security Crisis Since 1860" this morning.  He gives us charts, graphs, sparks of vision and Reagan-isms... showering us with purple rain if we don't do something soon, for we truly are at the corner of jive and dime ("prosperity or poverty").

so this budget thing...apparently it gets down to the public being forced to fund abortions:

"They're willing, it appears
--clearly, to throw women under the bus
even if it means they'll shut down the government.
Because that's where we are.
That's the one issue that was remaining last night."

Prince Harry, today
(I do crack myself up)

In this day and age, I do believe Planned Parenthood could be abundantly funded by those who support what they do, it is as simple as that (and the beauty of the FREE market!).  I mean, my goodness, just have the ladies of  NARAL and NOW and Code Pink-- and all of their associations, like SOROS and moveon.org and every other left wing media outlet, just send out an email alert; King George could right one check; done. next.  Where is my right to choose?

Why should I have to pay for someone else to have an abortion?

...and pulleeze, do not even go there on cancer screenings...right, like Planned Parenthood is just a 'health care provider'...crock, crock and more crock.  PP has stayed in business because it is THE business to take care of unwanted business, pregnancies; otherwise, all that "health care" providing they keep dishing out like a buffet line...birth control, counseling, immaculate screenings...would actually have the reverse affect....

...something is not quite right...something doesn't jive... unless, in reality, they must not be very good at protecting the community of women and girls in the first place.

America is at the crossroads.  We are in a time that questions everything we are and everything we want to be meeting up with destiny.

You are right on, Jesse, it is about dueling ideologies, and may the best one for America win; scratch that, make that a win-win for everybody.   Can you say flash forward?

While this girl only wishes she could just flash dance this one away on this happy friday, I am still puzzled...

It is just so strange, no?  Abortion has jumped out as the stinking point.  hmmmm

...makes me wonder...
...so what are we to think...
...so defunding parts of Obama's love child under the "Miss Affordable Care Act" is no big deal?
...just an unstuck sticking point, no longer a flash point, oh well...we just had to let it go.
...just part of the unintended consequences. my bad, too bad.
so what you're saying is...25 billion in funding for the 'affordable care act' can get thrown under the bus and everybody's okay with it?  really?  seriously?  Parts of the largest piece of legislation known to man can be thrown up on the stirrups...while defunding Planned Parenthood, we will have none of that.  no way. no how. not under my watch....

who does that?  why?

Make it a Good Day, G

but this we do know...the Democrats had total control of Congress and the White House for two years, with ample time to push through the 2011 budget with no fuss before it's deadline of OCTOBER 2010!; first excuse, didn't want to affect the outcomes of the midterm elections; after shellacking, couldn't muster the enthusiasm, nor the will, in the lame duck; now, after 48 days of having a budget proposed by the House GOP, after the Senate delayed and delayed and delayed, the president entered the picture with just 48 hours to spare -- and the democrats want to point fingers at the republicans?  that's a good one.
