It's If Government Lives to See Another Day Under the Confines of Obamacare Thing

Dear America,

Oh, this diary; it's always hard taking the first few steps on the keyboard; the mind is a muddled mash pit -- having been thoroughly marinated in thoughts and thesis anywhere from a day to nearly a week.  Just how does one lowly human being bring it into proper form, determined to make it a fine tuned delicacy of consensus worthy of your time? 

...especially after the week it's been, right?

It's utterly grotesque, the tricks of political trade and treason against the bounty that is America.

Keeping pace with the truth and everything that remains outside the truth, seems to be the theme on the day.  [And if we're being honest here, I'm really not sure if I can stick with this --  but will give it a  shot ...preferably with a Jack Daniel's chaser.]  

At times like these, deciphering what is true and not true takes everything we've got.  Which begs the immediate, exasperated response under our breath: 'it just shouldn't be this hard' ...this thing called congress.

Here's a little something something to wet your whistle.  (It's nothing fancy, but breaks down simple ideas into bite-size nuggets, leaving the option open to delve deeper on your own time.)

Sticking to a limited, free market loving, self-reliant respecting body politic -- one that truly upholds the principles and values set forth over two hundred years ago, one that remains diligent and mindful of living within our means, one that applauds the governing aspects in keeping with our inherent checks and balances of power, and to that end, fully respecting the individual ideas that come forth -- shouldn't be this hard.

What began as a simple family recipe of five, quality, worthy ingredients has been adulterated by a gastronomic attack of all five senses -- placing quantity over quality, elevating the new hybrid chemically-enriched over what is just good food, replacing the long, evening meal shared with family around the table with a quick-serve out of a box or microwave, up against a schedule that leaves little time for real conversation.

For Ted Cruz, it became a situation that demanded we sit down and talk about it...even if that means standing for 21 hours straight, including an epic bed time read of Green Eggs and Ham.

For Harry Reid, it was all a pathetic sideshow, a big waste of time...as he clearly made known in his best mealy mouthed, thirty years of bureaucratic mediocrity, well timed verbal assault upon a fellow statesman, just oozing with arrogance and condescension.

Again, contemplating just five little words:  it shouldn't be this hard. 
And throwing in five more for good measure:  how did we get here? 

It's like a bad case of acid-reflux.  As if we didn't know eating a half rack of baby backs swimming in sauce, cheesy-creamy scalloped potatoes made from scratch, coleslaw of cabbage and kale! thoroughly juiced in a sweet and spicy horseradish dressing, followed with a heaping serving of sticky toffee pudding (make that two)  --  wasn't going to come back to haunt us...seriously?

Are you kidding me?
Are you kidding me?

We set ourselves up for this; none of this should be any surprise at all.  For it all began, way back when, at a time when we were simply five days away from fundamental transformation.  And again.

Just what did you think FUNDAMENTAL TRANSFORMATION was going to look like? Feel like?  Taste like?

As Cruz duly noted in his statement lasting nearly an entire day, "the Senate is no longer a deliberative body."  Summing things up for you --  the right to speak and to amend legislation upon each deliberate whim, fully representative of one's own constituency,  has been thoroughly violated from within, in an effort to control debate. 

Then, in proper turn, he went on to explain the points of opposition.  And there were many.  But by this time, it's like 5 am, pacific coast time, having been up since three; excuse me if I spare you on every detail, for it's a wee bit of a blur.  All I really know is that I didn't want to miss being a witness to history, and I loved every minute of it. 

But funny thing, as the first one -- repealing the medical device tax -- just so happened to be an issue not of contention whatsoever (at least, in theory).   An overwhelming majority of both sides of the aisle thoroughly disapprove of it -- cue yahoo!  And rightly so!  It kills innovation and the free market at every possible chance.   But let it be known, it is the Democratic Senate who was for it, before they were against it (after the truth came out),  before they were for it again.   So who's playing to the sideshow now?


Um, telling the truth shouldn't be this hard...

Then there is this -- under the makeshift heading of Alinsky's Rules of Order: "a society devoid of compromise is totalitarian"..........

Sure, we may not all agree on things; but to say we're done talking, that negotiating any further is completely off the table, that the bill is dead upon arrival, while resorting to name calling, and throwing food if they could, is that their dignified and final answer?

Oh, and I get it...
The Senate passes the Cloture test, nearly unanimously voting to end debate 79 -19, defunding Obamacare for a split second, thereby giving congressional cover for those who may need it come re-election; but then, in an instant, like a package of freeze dried mashed potatoes, immediately removes the defunding of ObamaCare... and sends the whole mess back to the house for a re-do.  Just like Cruz called it.

"Today, far too many Republicans joined Harry Reid in giving the Democrats the ability to fund Obamacare. When the bill comes back to the Senate, when the House yet again stands for principle and fights for the American people, I very much hope that Senate Republicans will rise to the challenge. We are stronger when we are united, and we can defeat Obamacare only if Senate Republicans come together, stand with House Republicans, and champion the millions of Americans being harmed by this disastrous healthcare law."

The Senate is where the sideshow lives and breathes -- it acts much like a Kitchen-Aid stand alone mixer, massive enough to whip up a lively 300 million; but so unfortunate the color, currently only coming in baby puke.

So the saga continues, with no resolution in sight.

At this present moment,  Boehner, and the people's House, has already sent it back to the Senate -- with corrections, of course.  Here's the press release.

In a nutshell,  coming out of the AP, with the headline, "Who'll blink?..."  The Associated Press confirmed congress is now closed, "after a post-midnight vote in the GOP-run House to delay by a year key parts of the new health care law and repeal a tax on medical devices, in exchange for avoiding a shutdown."

Now, there are as many ways to look at this tactic as there are pundits.

Sure, why not just let ObamaCare fall under it's own weight and let the cake tiers climb to the moon and back until it crumbles on it's own...why delay the inevitable...why not just sit this one out and watch the catastrophe in the making...let the democrats bake their own demolition cake and eat it too.   We all know it tastes like alfalfa.    There is that.  (And Rush, along with many, many others deem this to be the way to go.  And count me in.)

But then again,
and strangely enough -- as wonders never cease and Wondra never fails me --
I kinda like where Boehner is going with this:

“If the Senate stalls until Monday afternoon instead of working today, it would be an act of breathtaking arrogance by the Senate Democratic leadership.  They will be deliberately bringing the nation to the brink of a government shutdown for the sake of raising taxes on seniors’ pacemakers and children’s hearing aids and plowing ahead with the train wreck that is the president’s health care law.  The American people will not stand for it."

At this moment in time, the House has, at the very least, temporarily funded the government -- which is slated to come to a complete stop come midnight, September 30th.  Consider the "delay" of the health care mandate for individuals just part and parcel of all the delays unilaterally imposed by this president -- unconstitutionally, I might add.    The House has merely thrown a little rubber scraper of their own into the mix to slow things down, scrape the sides, see how things are blending -- because reality reveals trouble at every pulsating turn. 

Love that link to Hot Air, above;  Ed Morrissey does a bang up job reporting on the administration run amok and ends posing a really good question:

"Why is Obama

bailing out employers and insurers

with delays

on mandates,

but not consumers?"

So the president can negotiate with the big guys, and even with terrorists, and even breaking the Code of Honor and Silence of thirty four years with Iran -- but not with the American people?

"A path to a meaningful agreement

will be difficult,"

Obama told reporters

at the White House

after the call.

"But I believe we've got

 a responsibility to pursue

diplomacy

and that we have a unique

opportunity

to make progress

with the new leadership

in Iran."

The president feels a strong responsibility to pursue diplomacy with crazy people, who HATE westerners, and seem hell bent on nuking our only real friend and ally in the region, Israel, but won't negotiate with the GOP for a meaningful agreement between opposing sides of congress over health care?  And Oh -- how sweet -- Obama and Rouhani exchanged "pleasantries."

"It is particularly unfortunate that President Obama would recognize the Iranian people's right to nuclear energy but not stand up for their right to freedom, human rights, or democracy."  This being the response from Eric Cantor, Republican House Majority Leader, simply exchanging what everybody else is thinking...But I digress.

Let's review:  

NOT ONE REPUBLICAN

voted for the

 "Affordable Care Act." 

 Not one.

Who does this president think they represent?  (Besides domestic terrorists... "tea-baggers," extremists, and anarchists...)  It's called the other half of the country, Mr. Obamacare.
 

DO you think, Mr. President, that the GOP (all facets of it) should just give up the fight, just because you say so?

The Left never gave up the Utopian dream for Universal Health Care.  It's still the ultimate goal -- is it not?  See here, and oops, what I said was, here,  and with Harry Reid double fudge brownie downing on the single payer health care system here. 

The Left is so patient.  How long has it been?   Decades in the making?

Here's a Hell's Kitchen Habanero Pepper update:  Cruz wasn't in the Senate the first go round.  As a Senator from the fine state of Texas, he is entitled to a say  -- even if some say it's too late -- even if it takes a filibuster lasting 21 hours to fully bake. 

Another way of looking at it -- large or small, elections have consequences  (shout out to you, too, John McCrazy Cain).  The people of Texas put Rafael Edward "Ted" Cruz in the hot seat in 2013 for a reason; and Cruz proceeded to do exactly what the people of Texas wanted him to do, no matter what, no matter how hard it was.  KUDOS to you, dear sir.

And Mr. President -- you may not agree, or like it -- but as president of these United States, there is an inherent obligation to let Cruz speak for those of us who oppose this outrageous piece of legislation without ridicule; and without undermining the full faith and credit of the American people that THIS congress, THIS president, THIS administration, heeds every word like a well loved recipe passed down through the generations.


We, the people, always have the floor. 

It would be perfectly fine by me if this government doesn't survive another day.

The thing is:  the House has averted a government shut down.

It's up to the Senate to keep it.
By the time they reconvene, they will have about as long as it takes to roast a standing crown of pork -- or each other --  to do it. 

In the great scheme of things -- the president and his liberal organizers have waited this long to complete his fundamental health care transformation, what's another delay?   [Guess that only works if the president thinks of it first...ooooh snap. and make mine ginger]   But seriously, how insane would it be if they can't deal with a little itty bitty delay?  Right?   Anarchy comes in all kinds of flavors, doesn't it now?


At the end of the day tomorrow -- it may not be pretty, but let's just hope it's eatable.

It's a Public Thing -- the Whole Thing -- Thesis and Antithesis -- Thing

Dear America,

my distractions seem to be mounting.  Is it just me or all of America?

remember way back when, when little old g just couldn't be done with summer fast enough? 

The idea of September -- being back into routine, and balance, and normalcy -- was just right there! Right there!  Just right around the corner!  It was so close, I could taste it.   Mmmm...coming home at the end of a day to roasted butternut squash, meatloaf and mashed potatoes, candied root vegetables drizzled with balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil, and pie....lots and lots of pie.   It would be so marvelous, so simple, and oh so yummy... of course, in a 'have you done all your homework' kind of way. 

It was so close.  That sense of calm, that sense of all is truly right with the world, was upon us...and just waiting for us to pop the cork of a cabernet and take a long, contemplative, synthesizing sip.

But nooooooooooooo.

Not so fast.

The autumn breeze with ease and butternut crush with a hush (all over the world, tonight) must wait. [gosh I love that song...gonna try humming it as I do this; maybe that will turn my mind's mush into a kind of hush before pressing publish]

By the way, synthesis is my angel word on the day.

Given how the drill goes: I just close my eyes and pull an angel card out of the heart-shaped box; it's always a mystery as to which message comes my way.   The angels, so to speak, hold all the cards, ba dump ba!   you go girl...get that groovy groove back

But you know, upon first glance, I'm like, seriously? Do you even know me?  Have you no sense as to what is even going on in my world -- let alone with all of America? I'm in pieces and all over the place these days.   Is this a joke?  Synthesis?!?  Synthesis this.   Making a gesture and totally yelling at the angels at the top of my lungs.  Like what good is that gonna do?   ...But hypothetically... just what is the penalty for biting an angel's head off?

So calming myself down, I looked it up.

...I wanted to see if there happened to be something, anything, to gain from this assault upon my psyche before dismissing it in a hissy fit.   I mean, I KNEW the angels were just messin' with me -- but on the off chance they're not...what the hell, right?

And if you linked IN there, it would bring you to a current misguided vibe coming from our president....It's like, yeah, Mr. President, the opposition has no concern about the pending doom and gloom that only living beyond our means can bring along with that hefty 17 TRILLION dollars in debt; the GOP just wants to mess with you, yeah yeah

[oh! and it's because you are black; let's not forget to throw that into the mix-informed. yeah, yeah]

[and isn't the irony rich, that the first black president actually enslaves the whole lot of us]

ooh which reminds me of a tee shirt armed with a silk-screened message worthy of an encore:

"TO SAVE TIME, let's assume I know everything." 

ah, good stuff; more on that later.

But we digress.

Ah but really now, who are we kidding?  That tangent was all mine.  All me.

But back to SYNTHESIS.

It's such a good word.

1.  The combining of separate elements or substances to form a coherent whole.

2.  The whole so formed.

3.  Chemistry.  Formation of a compound from its constituents.

4.  Philosophy.  a.  Reasoning from the general to the particular; logical deduction.  b. The combination of thesis and antithesis in the dialectical process, producing a new and higher form of being.

In the general, we go about our every day in synthesis mode.   We make a day for the good, with the bad, and alongside the ugly.  No matter what life brings, we must take from the elements thrown at us and produce a union.   In the micro, in the macro, this describes America.

All we ever really have is moving parts and pieces.  And -- with great hope -- from every thing, we create a coherent, thoughtful, reasoning, productive, viable, solvent, whole -- worthy to be called a life when all said and done.

And what is Congress, but a reflection of the parts, the constituents, the ideologies, the varied elements of every person, place and thing, that is intended to come together to perform a duty to God and to country in UNION.   Thesis and antithesis in action, in the everyday.

Contrary to popular belief of THIS president -- and under THIS administration -- we are not a one size fits all.  

Just as Common Core doesn't equate when it comes to educating our little ones [really good stuff, MM.com!]; and just as Obamacare doesn't equate when it comes to insuring and covering health care costs in a free market, as America was designed; and just as Global-warming controlled regulations doesn't equate and forces the free market to take a backseat to a massive, global lie; and just as Gun Control and Confiscation doesn't equate when usurping the fundamental, Constitutional right for a free people to keep and bear arms; and

so, too, does this Congress -- and more specifically, this GOP, this opposition, and THIS president -- must find a way to synthesize the ideas into a policy the entire whole can live with in the every day.  This is neither a democracy or dictatorship.   We operate under a Republic [click it]  "A Republic:  The Public Thing: Leaving the People Alone."

Arrogantly, Obama assumes he not only knows everything, but that he knows better -- better than you, better than me, better than conservatives, heaven forbid the Tea Partiers, even better than God.

He has no intent to synthesize anything.  At hello, he's heard enough.

There is no compromise, there is no transformation of equal parts into a whole, all synthesis stops dead in its tracks; the possibility for endless opportunities becomes a root with no where to go.  HE has made up his presidential-entitlement mind.  In other words, WE are at the intersection of  "five days away from fundamental transformation" and five years later.

When I began this G thing, it was at the very beginnings, the roots, of Obamacare and 657 blogs ago.

I feel like I have grown into this thing called G, as well as, this thing called life, right here before your eyes.  It's been baby steps, but from all the elements we think of when we think of America, and from the world as a whole, we have developed a relationship with it all.  I am not the same person, you are not the same person -- and together, we are not the same people.

We create, through the task of synthesis, a new whole every time we wake up and welcome a new day.  Some might even call it an evolution; while for others, still, a revolution.

And yet, it must be said, some things must stay the same.  
What do we want?  How do you want to live?

But the reality shows us in this new day, we are losing the Republic --  whether we choose to accept the elements for what they are, or not.

We are losing it.  [In more ways than one]

What we thought was going to be an easy, breezy cover-girl kind of fall, is really, truly, a fall from Grace.  It's a fall so great, even the likes of a butternut squash soup with a basil/kale pesto swirl, and a big hunk of sourdough bread,  followed with a warm slice of chocolate pecan pie fresh from the oven can't even touch.

While the Harvest Moon is full of lamentations of what was... 

Common sense is neither prized or placed atop a pedestal.  A Common Core where mediocrity meets up with a mindless march against independent, critical thinking is the new thing all the way around, as a one size fits all approach becomes the general answer for everything.  For THIS president, with good measure from the likes of this congress, has nationalized every bloody bloomin' thing at this point.   It's a day we thought would never come.

Winter comes next.

The comparison is ridiculously ripe with irony, inconsistency and hypocrisy -- if, the fine gentleman from Arizona were to find himself courageous enough to look at the real world in America, now fully under the spell of the Obama regime, alongside a dueling, incompetent, misguided,  bevy of elitist ruling congress and adversely affecting the Rule of Law and good self-government from the top down.  It's like, John, have you any idea what's going on here at home?

I just love the tally of tweets in the margin, suspiciously holding at a healthy round number of nothing but nyet.


Not to mention the titles of "popular stories" -- see the bullet points just a wee bit further right of McCain's mug...Here's a taste:

As America shifts its entire economic system based on lies!  Obamacare, check, and for the discount double check; the total destruction of our oil, natural gas and coal production, only to regulate every segment of our transportation and energy policy to force feed green upon us, based solely on lies -- thanks to "man-made global warming" and for good measure, check out the gross exaggeration here.

And that's just another idiotic thing to say.

We are always, in all ways, posturing ourselves with political, ideological leanings.  Some of us, so much so, we find ourselves totally bent over and up our own ass, like a certain John McCain, or like a Barack Obama, or like a Vladimir Putin.   Naturally, at some point, we get lost in the realm of manufacturing our own bull.

Even the latest brouhaha over Warren Buffet's comments on Obamacare is something of a rouse.  His comments came in 2010!   It's only because a place called Money Morning highlighted the remarks when addressing concerns on what is on the economic, market savvy, horizon -- which, lo and behold, is now three years later and looking like the fraudulent "affordable" care act is about to become lock, stock and barrel, the law.   But if you want to rehash the old news, here's a good cog in the blogs to log.

Yeah, cuz scraping Obamacare and starting over is just crazy talk...

'but thanks for your all support, Buffy, now sit back and watch the prophet of profiting upon propaganda do his thing...'

Indeed, still going strong and moving forward and going on five years now.

Well maybe our leaders have forgotten the secret back behind the excellence and exceptionalism of America's wealth --  both in sickness and in health -- but our citizenry have not.  A yahoo! survey just the other day asked this question:  "What's better for society?  --  If wealthy give money to charity, to help create business, or to pay more taxes?"   The tally at the time showed a 10% going with charity, 27% to paying more in taxes, and a whopping 63% to the creation of new business!

We believe in the value of people creating their own happiness and wealth with less government and more private ownership, accountability, freedom and liberty.   At our very core, we believe in the government getting out of the way, still.

'What we have now

is untenable over time,'

 said Buffett,

 an early supporter of President Obama.

 'That kind of a cost

compared to the rest of the world

is really like a tapeworm eating,

you know, at our economic body.'  

just to quote The Weekly Standard

Not defendable.

Not suitable for occupation.

And most likely not covered under Obamacare.

So forward march to the organic, sarin, newly remodeled, solar infused, gas chambers we go -- speaking ironically, of course. [see here for a little lesson on sarin, from HuffPo; and thank you Nazis circa 1938]

Now, as many of my regular readers know, my personal life has hit a serious rough patch these days, and with good reason; but whining about it ad nauseam isn't going to help.  Even I know, to deny reality is to deny creating a life outside of a living a lie. 

In order to move forward, I must first live with two feet upon a sound foundation: the truth.

Only then can I make true steps forward, revealing the next level in God's plan.  If I get stuck gnawing on all the things that are not working, running incongruent to my overall health and general welfare, like a tapeworm eating away at my soul,  how does that feed my spirit?  How does that serve me, my family, in high hopes of fulfilling my dreams and life's purpose, large and small?

The truth shall set me free.

And let this be a lesson for all of us, America.

We are living in a land of lies -- false truths that sound good --  make believe of all kinds, and tragically demanding us to make a choice between two sides when neither of which seem to be beholden to the real, genuine truth.  We seem so confused as to which leg to stand on these days, we all fall down.

And yet, this president has the audacity to call the opposition -- those of us reading the tea leaves, the writing on the wall, back to the future and back again, and just about anyone and everyone who have the courage to stand on a soap box to sharply disagree -- the extremists!?    Unbelievable.

I am so unnerved, sarin must be to blame.

It's no exaggeration when I say I think this president is snuffing the life out of all of us.

And believe I'll just leave it at that.

Old G thing has been clinging to dear life.
Finding comfort -- in an oh so bittersweet kind of way -- in the famous phrase, "when you're going through hell, keep going."    Indeed,  and thank you Churchill as we regroup, as we take stock in the things we hold dear.  And with great hope, let it become the catalyst for rebuilding, transforming, and making good from a set of circumstances that clearly carry the potential to wipe us out altogether.

Sure, when I say "clinging to dear life" it's not like I'm in Syria, struggling to actually stay alive while dodging rebels, the Assad army, and otherwise physically, emotionally wrestle with the possibility of losing life or limb just walking to the five and dime.  It's not like that.

It's not like I have to go all out and gird my loins in order to battle the deluge -- a massive wall of water in Biblical proportions coming off the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and thereby save my life, home, family from nature's fury.  It's not like that.  [And saying a few extra heartfelt prayers to those I love experiencing this for real....which is simply a little shout out to a little R and D who make their homestead in Boulder  xoxo]

It's not like I have to save myself through a daily hookup to an IV, supplying enough nutrients and energy to survive -- as in the case with the love of my life  [my poor baby]. 

It's like, enough already!  Lord, can't you see?  My ability to keep going is on the verge of total collapse...can't you see my legs beginning to buckle underneath me?   Yeah right... God only gives us "what we can handle" -- oh okay.  If that be truly the case, then my cup runneth over!  Enough! enough, enough.  I am crying uncle here, please I beg, no more.  I will  do anything in exchange; let me be a vessel, Lord -- an instrument of your peace.   Just make it stop.  Take me, I'm all yours...

C'mon, breathe, G.

But no sir ree bob -- I'm not battling to make a life in Syria, nor having to build myself an arc, nor living from day to day on a drip.   So let me be clear -- it's not like I can't find my perspective, or something stupid like that.  

And considering myself totally lucky on this day the Lord has made, hallelujah.

And how!

For America IS exceptional....still. 
And how's that for a rather abrupt about-face?

Sure, we can't see it all too clearly right about now -- but it's there.   It's laying in wait under the surface; it's taking cover from the daily bombardment of shrapnel and fire and brimstone upon our inherent foundation, and taking refuge.

And sometimes  --   it might just take a Russian, a former KGB chief.......cross-checking references now...highly manipulative, systematically perverse, hidden agenda ripe, narcissistic diplomat to remind us.

But before we get into that, let's review:

Obama said Assad had to go (circa 2012)
Obama waited
Obama marked the "red line"

** cue chemical weapons **

Obama calls for military action against Syria!

** a week later **

Obama calls for "limited" military action in his weekly address!
Obama calls for congress to "vote your conscience", f&*% the public
Obama waited for UN
Obama waited for EU
Obama waited for public to grant the A-okay
Obama said "military doesn't do pinpricks"
Obama waited and wrote a speech to take us to war...
but wait... wait a minute...

** cue Kerry gaffe **

Obama, State Department, within minutes walked back Kerry's comments.
but wait...wait a minute...
yeah, yeah, that's the ticket...

** cue Putin **

Obama delays Syria strike, delays vote in congress...
and basically calls the whole thing off.
But wait...wait a minute...

** Obama is OUT! ** 

Hands over the loose ends to Kerry.
Kerry claims "this is not a game" and Syria's efforts must be --
"credible" "comprehensive"  "verifiable"


Oh okay.

I've heard and seen and witnessed enough.

What the hell? 

What a pathetic show of foreign policy acumen all the way around the gaffe and back, no?  We are a laughing stock heard round the world.

Oh and about that gaffe.
What if the reporter, Margaret Brennan of CBS, hadn't asked the question -- then where would we be?  Cue MEDIAite, Andrew Kirell, here.
Now that is a scary thought.

But for a mad, mad world update on the day in Syria and Assad, let's turn to Fox News, here.  Is he playing us?

The potential strike by the United States against Syria, despite strong opposition from many countries and major political and religious leaders, including the pope, will result in more innocent victims and escalation, potentially spreading the conflict far beyond Syria’s borders. A strike would increase violence and unleash a new wave of terrorism. It could undermine multilateral efforts to resolve the Iranian nuclear problem and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and further destabilize the Middle East and North Africa. It could throw the entire system of international law and order out of balance.

Love how he was able to insert the pope as part of his smearing propaganda campaign.  good skills, comrade.

And for an added bonus, we immediately get a poly-sci lesson on the fly and the sly: 

Syria is not witnessing a battle for democracy, but an armed conflict between government and opposition in a multireligious country.

From a guy who knows a thing or two about nasty, he continues citing:

There are few champions of democracy in Syria. But there are more than enough Qaeda fighters and extremists of all stripes battling the government. The United States State Department has designated Al Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, fighting with the opposition, as terrorist organizations. This internal conflict, fueled by foreign weapons supplied to the opposition, is one of the bloodiest in the world.

This is where he really brings it:

From the outset, Russia has advocated peaceful dialogue enabling Syrians to develop a compromise plan for their own future. We are not protecting the Syrian government, but international law. We need to use the United Nations Security Council and believe that preserving law and order in today’s complex and turbulent world is one of the few ways to keep international relations from sliding into chaos. The law is still the law, and we must follow it whether we like it or not. Under current international law, force is permitted only in self-defense or by the decision of the Security Council. Anything else is unacceptable under the United Nations Charter and would constitute an act of aggression.

That part, "the law is still the law" while addressing a country founded upon the rule of law, acting on behalf of humanity and the rule of law in every possible way, being the face of democracy around the world, is rich, isn't it?

ooooh...and anything else is "unacceptable" and "would constitute an act of aggression..." ruble-kudos to the prince of peace in international relations.

Oh!   and then there is this:

It is alarming that military intervention in internal conflicts in foreign countries has become commonplace for the United States. Is it in America’s long-term interest? I doubt it.

you are good.

But force has proved ineffective and pointless. Afghanistan is reeling, and no one can say what will happen after international forces withdraw. Libya is divided into tribes and clans. In Iraq the civil war continues, with dozens killed each day. In the United States, many draw an analogy between Iraq and Syria, and ask why their government would want to repeat recent mistakes.

you got me there...

No matter how targeted the strikes or how sophisticated the weapons, civilian casualties are inevitable, including the elderly and children, whom the strikes are meant to protect.

Because in fact, we have no idea what kind of strikes -- it's somewhere between "our military doesn't do pin pricks" and "unbelievably small, limited" military strikes -- your guess is as good as mine.  And really now, a death is a death is a death -- whether it be by BB gun or sarin gas, right?  But I digress.

So without further adieu, let's hit the big finish, shall we?

My working and personal relationship with President Obama is marked by growing trust. I appreciate this. I carefully studied his address to the nation on Tuesday. And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation. There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.

Oh we've come a long way since the day Obama was caught on the open mic with the former Russian President Medvedev...flexibility in negotiations meet the latest rude reception.

"I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism," he said.

"It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation...We are all different, but when we ask the Lord's blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal."

First, love that twist and play with all of us being created equal; exceptional use of the American ideal, to be sure.  Check mate.

But here's the thing -- from just a girl with love to Putin on the ritz cracker:

When we speak, in America, of America's exceptionalism, we are speaking in terms of the inherent foundation from which all good, all power, all understanding comes; it's an enigma, really.   From the acts of our founding fathers, we gained a way of life, an attitude, a Rule of Law, a free market, a certain self-reliance second to none.  NO OTHER country has what we have!  And that especially holds true for you, Russia.  It was, and IS, AMERICA who has declared "these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness!"   Not Russia.

It is our pursuit of happiness, under God, that is of value to our society, if not the entire world, and anyone who holds such truths near and dear, respective of the ideals, the duties, the principles set forth, understands this dynamic through and through.  Russia doesn't have that.  Have you wondered where all your people are going lately, and why?    What the hell, to the second power.

Due to the varied influences upon the individual -- one's will, will power, choices, complete with faults and natural talents and successes and education and experience --  surely the quality of the individual is subject to change.   But it is America, as a whole, that is truly exceptional.  It's about what we stand for in its entirety that makes us remarkably special, beckoning people from all over the world to come and build a life.

Over the years, we, the people, have diluted the mission and the message back behind our own exceptionalism -- misrepresenting what it truly means, and simultaneously, compromising upon our duty to God and country.

But with regard to America's exceptionalism -- you have no idea what you are talking about, Put Put.
And we get a self-righteous, hidden agenda laden, smack down on exceptionalism from you?


Government is much like a torrential rain, a disease running amok in the body, or a bloody civil war between societal factions too many to count --

"Government is not reason,

it is not eloquence --

it is force! 

 Like fire,

it is a dangerous servant

and a fearful master."

Just a little George Washington thrown in for good measure; thereby placing into context the rule of good government from our founders, and fully elaborated in one of my favorite reads, The 5000 Year Leap.   W. Cleon Skousen explains for us, "[T]he founders looked upon "government" as a volatile instrument of explosive power which must necessarily be harnessed within the confines of a strictly interpreted Constitution, or it would destroy the very freedom it was designed to preserve."

A little rain is a good thing.

A little upset tummy, harmless.

And government  -- a force of good or evil --  is not reason; it's a force, always.

It is conceived naturally, organically, Organized for Action from the grassroots even -- and quite possibly going something like this: "when in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another..."

Oh, no time to delve into the ironies, the use of propaganda to sway public opinion, let alone the frailties of human nature who find comfort in being led, especially on behalf of the quintessential good cause every now and again.

It's a Doozy of a Dosey Doe Heard Round the World Thing

Dear America,

G appears, then disappears; she pops in, then out...do the hokey pokey and we turn ourselves about, that's what its all about [clap, clap].

Just think of it as me, G, embracing a rather uncommon, seemingly under-rated, modus operandi  these days -- the posturing of a stellar post once in a blue moon in unison with a few rockets red-glare, the ever-so-lovely and lively element of surprise.

Surprise!  Just when you thought she was a goner...she's baaaack...boom.

This Syria thing is a hot mess; even still, the perverted, welcome distraction (however ugly) saves me from my own life, which at this point is almost unrecognizable.   

But honestly -- Syria now?  I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole, with the help of a perfectly undefined army of unknown rebels, or with four destroyers and two aircraft carriers just offshore...

I mean, look at the track record over there...
Come on.
We can't be serious...
We've had no winners: Iraq, not; Afghanistan, not; Egypt, not; Libya, not.  This Arab Spring, as predicted, is more like winter in Siberia.

Mr. President-is-In -- Nope, he's-Out -Obama has made a mockery of both our military might and our foreign policy.   And you know how I know?  Let's review.  We'll begin with simply the latest from the Associated Press:

Obama set the fast-paced events in motion on Saturday, when he unexpectedly stepped back from ordering a military strike under his own authority and announced he would seek congressional approval.

Recent presidents have all claimed the authority to undertake limited military action without congressional backing. Some have followed up with such action.

Obama said he, too, believes he has that authority, and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said during the day that even Congress' refusal to authorize the president wouldn't negate the power of the commander in chief

.
If President Obama feels he has the full authority to intervene and "undertake limited military action without congressional backing," why not go for it?  Why the hokey pokey when you ARE, as you say, the Leader of the Free World -- aka King of Everybody?

Not to mention, this girl is still confused as to the mission.  What's the goal if it's not about getting Assad out now?

 

Here's some stunning Assad observations --  from John Kerry, going back to 2011--  and courtesy of The Weekly Standard in a post by Daniel Halper from December 21, 2012, that declares right from the start "Assad is now under fire for mass murdering his own civilians, as he fights an internal war to keep his position of power. Even Obama has called for Assad to go."):

"Well, I personally believe that -- I mean, this is my belief, okay? But President Assad has been very generous with me in terms of the discussions we have had. And when I last went to -- the last several trips to Syria -- I asked President Assad to do certain things to build the relationship with the United States and sort of show the good faith that would help us to move the process forward."

But please, don't take my handpicked nuggets as the end all -- go to the source, here, and check out the pictures documenting cozy dinners, chats in big chairs, and all.


No, no, I got a better idea.
Let's recap a little more of the history leading us up to this moment in time, this moment when our "commander in chief" dosey doe's from that was then, this is now, and it's more important to act, to do something, anything, to save face over a self-imposed blurred red line.

For this kind of action, we go to Reuter's -- and a detailed post from July 27, 2013 with the headline, "INSIGHT - Obama and Syria: a trail of half-steps, mixed messages,"  by Matt Spetalnick and Warren Strobel.

Is that not the greatest thing since musical chairs, or what?

And just so you know -- we can't continue here until you have read it.  So if you decided to fake it till you make it through the day, do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars and go back two spaces; great insight awaits; I'll wait...

Now, let's cue Carney, like stat, like yesterday, and before I change my mind:

"The options that we are considering are not about regime change," said White House spokesman Jay Carney. "They are about responding to a clear violation of an international standard that prohibits the use of chemical weapons."  August 27, 2013, Reuter's

Oh okay, Jay.

I think I get it now.   We want Assad to leave, but just not by force (at least, not by American forces leading the way and without a European entourage).

Here's General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff:

"Once we take action, we should be prepared for what comes next. Deeper involvement is hard to avoid."  [Translation: this is a huge unknown...offering up ideas synonymous with retaliation possible, al Qaeda and Hezbollah extremists taking advantage of the chaos, large scale  civilian casualties...]

The problem with the president of the United States of America -- as it pertains to this issue of Syria, anyway -- is that his first inclination was to get the support of the world to go into Syria in order to leave a mark, charge a warning across the bow, not to mess with chemical weapons.  When the president didn't get it, he cowered and quickly buried himself with second thoughts.  It was only then, after a walk, no less, that he came to the realization, oops, maybe I should seek authorization from congress.  [Can't have this kind of decision coming back to bite me]  Duh, dosey doe and away we go; do the hokey pokey as he turns himself around, that's what its all about.  [clap, clap]

Hello -- just a girl to Commander-in-Chief -- didn't you hear?  The Military has concerns about Syria!  Will you accept the role to lead to the level of a certain George Washington, for even Dempsey has doubts?

And why sixty days?  What is it you plan to accomplish within sixty days?  And how can you be so sure it's enough time?  What if this plan of yours doesn't go so textbook cut and dried?

If you don't plan on targeting the chemical weapons from the air, what are we targeting? 

If it's not about regime change, what's the point?  Why not?  We've done it before...Mubarak...Saddam...Gaddafi... How do you solve a problem like Syria without taking out the guy who pushes the chemical weapon button in his day job?   And how do you plan on making nice and keeping the [Nobel] Peace [Prize] with the countries siding with Assad -- like Russia?

And how strange it is --  that John Boehner, Eric Cantor, are supporting this kind of misguided international misstep.   Are you kidding me?  Let Obama stand on his own two feet with this decision.  What part of this sounds like a good idea?   I'm dizzy with disgust. [but here's five reasons to think twice about it...congress]

Something tells me at the rate we're going, a big fat oopsie-daisy muttered out of the lips of our fair leader is expected sometime before the end of the first week of November, give or take another round of hokey pokey and perhaps a dosey doe or two.
