It's Can We All Behave Thing

Dear America,

so Colin (and a teammate Eric Reid) kneeled during the national anthem last night, here in San Diego; which is far better than sitting on the bench, right?  Either somebody got to him to straighten out a wee bit -- or -- something deep down inside him made him tweek his stance in order to meet America half way.  And this girl considers that, a good start. 

Not only did he kneel, but he also said this after the game:

 "I'm not anti-American. I love America," said Kaepernick, who stayed on the field long after the game to sign autographs for enthusiastic fans. "I love people. That's why I'm doing this. I want to help make America better, and I think having these conversations helps everybody have a better understanding of where everybody is coming from."

Speaking of the American Huddle of yesterday's blog, we can all appreciate that, right; for surely we didn't get this love of country message upon his first anthem protest.

So let's then continue the conversation.  It's what Colin is asking for and that's easy enough...to talk about it, right?

If we look to having "a better understanding of where everybody is coming from," then everybody is everybody.  So props to Colin for giving us all permission to discuss it.

And considering Colin voluntarily became a catalyst of this new found freedom of expression against oppression of our time  -- a time when  grassroots activism called "Black Lives Matter" has become all the rage, raising awareness of police brutality against people of color, highlighting how many in the black community consider this an illustration of the continued oppression against blacks in America -- leading many, like Colin, to outright disrespect the flag for which she stands until
such change comes.

And it makes me wonder -- what does that change really look like, how do we get there from here, given the facts surrounding the whole truth about this alleged oppression by police within the black community?  At what point will Colin believe we have reached resolution?

As Heather Mac Donald pointed out -- in the Hillsdale publication, Imprimis, April 2016  (See  my early summer blogs on this in particular....here and here; might I add, this issue of Imprimis is gaining alot of mileage on the old gthing...we can't seem to stop bringing it up....funny how a little truth goes far, but I digress.) --

"We have been here before.  In the 1960's and early 1970's, black and white radicals directed hatred and occasional violence against the police.  The difference today is that anti-cop ideology is embraced at the highest reaches of the establishment:  by the President, by his Attorney General, by college presidents, by foundation heads, and by the press."

As Heather illuminated with statistic after statistic, we have reached a new age for modern America, and it just so happens to take us backwards --  having reached a time where violence against the police has doubled during the first three months of 2016, and in it's more minute expression, an age of sitting during the national anthem on the sidelines of America's favorite past time.

More Heather:

"Given the history of racism in this country and the complicity of the police in that history, police shootings of black men are particularly and understandably fraught. That history informs how many people view the police. But however intolerable and inexcusable every act of police brutality is, and while we need to make sure that the police are properly trained in the Constitution and in courtesy, there is a larger reality behind the issue of policing, crime, and race that remains a taboo topic. The problem of black-on-black crime is an uncomfortable truth, but unless we acknowledge it, we won’t get very far in understanding patterns of policing."

You know, Colin -- if you care about understanding the larger reality of black on black crime -- you should consider reading what Heather Mac Donald has to say; matter of fact, I wish you had, back in April, perhaps then this whole phase might look a whole lot different by now, right?

And shocking! --  and surely, Colin,  you will concur -- is the truth of violent crime committed in America's 75 largest counties...From data compiled in 2009, Heather notes:  "blacks constituted 62 percent of all robbery defendants, 57 percent of all murder defendants, 45 percent of all assault defendants—but only 15 percent of the population."

and while this isn't a statistic anyone in the black community wants to talk about, the ugly truth of what's happening within the black community must also understand what the black community does to itself:

"Every year, approximately 6,000 blacks are murdered. This is a number greater than white and Hispanic homicide victims combined, even though blacks are only 13 percent of the national population. Blacks are killed at six times the rate of whites and Hispanics combined. In Los Angeles, blacks between the ages of 20 and 24 die at a rate 20 to 30 times the national mean. Who is killing them? Not the police, and not white civilians, but other blacks. The astronomical black death-by-homicide rate is a function of the black crime rate. Black males between the ages of 14 and 17 commit homicide at ten times the rate of white and Hispanic male teens combined. Blacks of all ages commit homicide at eight times the rate of whites and Hispanics combined, and at eleven times the rate of whites alone."

So when Colin wants to have this conversation, can we include this reality hiding in the shadows on the field?

It is interesting that Colin -- with tats of Bible verses up and down his hot bod -- wasn't so vocal until he met his new girl.  A year of indoctrination by dating later,  the influence of a beautiful Muslim activist upon this all American football heavyweight  heart is showing. Ahhh yes, love, that explains it -- for the love of pete; Colin's love of country is all asunder, dying a slow death under the fog of real love, impressing upon him a certain and rampant oppression undermining the general welfare of blacks in America...all for no reason at all and totally unwarranted, it would seem.

And let's veer another direction, shall we?  It's just popular to hate the flag altogether.  When did that start?   hummm

circa 2008.  What I see is the president (then, merely a senator) being the only one not crossing his heart.  Can we talk about that?

With regard to the popular email chain that depicts the President speaking to the press without a flag anywhere close by, let alone right behind him, as customary (circa 2010)-- Snopes gives cover like so:

"Although it is typical practice that U.S. flags are present as a backdrop whenever the President of the United States speaks to the press or engages in other types of public appearances, such displays are not always present. Due to other factors (e.g., an event's nature, or its being impromptu, its being held at an unusual location) an opportunity to set up U.S. flag backdrops may be missed or skipped, or flags may be present but simply not visible in the camera angles used by photographers, so it's not hard to turn up photographs of the other recent Presidents referenced above addressing the press with no U.S. flags visible anywhere..."

and then proceeds to show some pictures to back them up.

Only problem is, in this scenario -- and any other press conference inside the White House -- there really is no excuse not to have a flag stationed behind the President.  I mean, how hard is that?  Why would the flag ever have to move from behind such a podium?

And then we have, from more recent days, what happened in New York, in the small town of Poughkeepsie -- fire department told to take the flags down, until the public outcry!  How is this even possible in America today?

And here's a fascinating change of allegiance....see infowars on PS75.  OR how about this new Florida law...here.

Something is afoot, America.

And looking high and low, it seems to be the American flag.

If working from the premise that dissing/removing all flags, from all countries guilty of oppression and wrong doing against its people, and perhaps casting a wider net to include all countries fraught with government abuses, deception, corruption against the general welfare -- starting with America --  is not only appropriate, but a mandate for political and cultural retribution  especially on behalf have racial injustices and inequalities -- then what flag in all the world would be left flying?  What flag would be left worthy of any salute?

In light of what is actually happening on the streets in America, where is the logic behind allowing the current strife within desecrate the flag as if it stands for nothing good at all?  Isn't that extreme?

When it gets down to it, isn't Colin capable of having this conversation, while he says he "loves America" and still salute the flag?  Why does he opt to go all in with showing his disgust, his disrespect, rather than his love?   Especially now -- now that's it's done, now that he's made his point, now that the conversations are happening all over the world -- why does he continue to hold out until he sees the change?

And NOW, folks,  we are back to where we began.

The thing is, just how do we get to resolution when we begin with the actual truth, the facts and stats, clearly conflicting with personal bias?

What does the change that Colin so badly wants to see look like, act like, if it's not the outright demand that all Americans behave themselves, no matter the color of their skin or station in life, whether wearing a badge or not?  Behave!

Wouldn't that be the answer?

Forget about the meme contemplating can we all just get along -- how about we all behave ourselves and go about our days simply doing the right thing for the right reasons with the right attitude.

Is that asking too much?

....that all of us in America just follow the fricken law and stay out of trouble from the start....to go to school and get an education...to stay out of gang life....to honor our mother and our father...to honor our children and be good parents...to only use our guns for self-defense, and only at the last resort, and keep our guns under lock and key and away from our babies...
don't drink and drive...don't steal...don't kill...don't lie -- and that goes especially to yourself...

yeah, let's begin by looking at the whole truth --  for the fact remains, the whole duty and responsibility to behave lies upon each and every one of us, to God and to country, every single day.

When we tackle that, we all win.

And then there is this parting thought....
This girl would have to believe that if Colin had trouble at his million dollar home, he would call the police, right?  But would they hurry or take their time now that he wears pigs wearing police hats on his socks?  hummmm


Well well well we have talked and talked today.  And what a conversation, right?

It's Recognizing the Whole Truth Thing

Dear America,

"yesterday's blog" (an excellent read, by the way, even though it dates all the way back to 6/14/16)...Responding to the Orlando Islamic Extremist attack, and it was a sad day to report.  Within the day, mind you, little g added the horrific, real-life data available and subsequently opined in a brief written expressly for Imprimis, a publication of Hillsdale College, by Heather Mac Donald.  It encapsulates a breakdown in society that has to concern every American.

Now this girl has had her head distracted for the better part of her days since about the first week of May -- it just so happened to be about the time my girl came home from school, and it marked the beginning of what I'd like to call a "season of preparation,"  The next big thing on the list was getting her ready for Argentina and an entire six months abroad! in every sense of the word. 

Needless to say, this G Thing has been left asunder, just bobbing out in the ether without a tether, a heartfelt grounding, rooted in the dissemination of the daily happenings in America from a certain point of view.

And when this occurs, randomly and almost haphazardly over the years (seven to be exact), I sometimes feel the tinge of guilt. And with that guilt, it gets easier and easier to want to shut it all down, completely buried in the utter disappointment of myself.  The Diary on the Day has missed so much... 

Show me your ways, LORD,

teach me your paths.

Guide me in your truth 

and teach me, 

for you are God my Savior,

 and my hope is 

in you all day long.

 Psalm 25:4-5

And then slowly, natural instinct tells me to pick myself up and be more patient; it tells me to start at the source and listen to the still small voice inside me, calling upon me to release the sensations that cause me to stumble in my own inadequacies and persevere...one step at a time, one day at a time.

Just breathe, G, just breathe.

In light of what transpired last night -- in Dallas -- an evening that began in peaceful protest and ended in the murder of five police officers, how does America pick herself up?  How do we do it....again and again?

In short:  The one and true answer is going back to the Source of all things. for America is bobbing upon a rocky sea of humanity, totally and completely un-tethered.

Looking upon the swath of the population who chooses to break the law (given my belief we can all decipher right from wrong)  -- whether being from the elite class (i.e. Hillary) to the very very bottom of society -- it seems quite evident, lawlessness is indiscriminate; racism is indiscriminate; corruption of the law itself is indiscriminate.

And we are living in a day when it is tragically not only indiscriminate, but wanton and rampant.

The Lord's Prayer tells us how to respond --

"forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us."

Twelve words.  Twelve powerful words that carry the capacity to guide us, under God.  One day at a time.  One peaceful step, or protest, at a time.

If you read "yesterday's blog" it would tell you black lives are in danger, most certainly.  IN matters of personal accountability and independence, black lives are -- for the better part of the whole -- torn asunder.   Stunning statistics illuminate deeper issues within the African-American community, and this girl is pretty close to saying it is between God and the African-American community to fix it.  Fathers and mothers are both required to raise good, secure, children of strong character; an education is required to become responsible adults; a steadfast faith is most helpful to guide each soul through the day to day, upon the straight and narrow path, of following the law.   These are just facts of life... totally indiscriminate of the color of one's skin.

If families were all made of this, society would be rich, self-actualized, meeting up with more and more success each day.

Every year, approximately 6,000 blacks are murdered. This is a number greater than white and Hispanic homicide victims combined, even though blacks are only 13 percent of the national population. Blacks are killed at six times the rate of whites and Hispanics combined. In Los Angeles, blacks between the ages of 20 and 24 die at a rate 20 to 30 times the national mean. Who is killing them? Not the police, and not white civilians, but other blacks. The astronomical black death-by-homicide rate is a function of the black crime rate. Black males between the ages of 14 and 17 commit homicide at ten times the rate of white and Hispanic male teens combined. Blacks of all ages commit homicide at eight times the rate of whites and Hispanics combined, and at eleven times the rate of whites alone.

The police could end all lethal uses of force tomorrow and it would have at most a trivial effect on the black death-by-homicide rate. The nation’s police killed 987 civilians in 2015, according to a database compiled by The Washington Post. Whites were 50 percent—or 493—of those victims, and blacks were 26 percent—or 258. Most of those victims of police shootings, white and black, were armed or otherwise threatening the officer with potentially lethal force...

Moreover, 40 percent of all cop killers have been black over the last decade. And a larger proportion of white and Hispanic homicide deaths are a result of police killings than black homicide deaths—but don’t expect to hear that from the media or from the political enablers of the Black Lives Matter movement. Twelve percent of all white and Hispanic homicide victims are killed by police officers, compared to four percent of all black homicide victims. If we’re going to have a “Lives Matter” anti-police movement, it would be more appropriately named “White and Hispanic Lives Matter.”

go ahead and make fun of me, if you are so inclined to lash out in cowardly, anonymous attacks -- but the question remains,  how will we, in America, RISE to the occasion thrust upon us in this day?

When will we talk about the whole truth and not the lie?

 In the same vein as there is a time for everything, for every season under heaven, this is the time for America to return to a season of planting, of re-rooting ourselves in the very ideas, self-evident and true,  that prove worthy for all of mankind.    Prudence, indeed, is asked of us once again.

Lost over time, over generations, is a certain understanding of our duty to country, and more importantly, to each other, as citizens.   The season of preparation to live in a country of law and order, and not chaos, is what's at hand.  And it can be as easy as packing our own bags, simply starting with the basics, if that's all we have.  And with that being said, hatred has no place; discrimination has no place; violence has no place.

An aspiration of John Adams may just lead us to our close today --

"to see rising in America 

an empire of liberty, 

and the prospect of two 

or three hundred millions of freemen, 

without one noble or one king among them."

and there you go.

we are there -- at the number of 300 hundred million of us...and we are bobbing up and down frantically...

....lost is the separation of powers in government, now fully corrupted and broken

...lost is the connection of life Under God, and the Divine Providence once honored

...lost is the individual mandate of duty to country, and to ourselves, to rise to the occasion in the every day to protect life, all life -- and to secure liberty, all liberty --  all in the Pursuit of Happiness, although not guaranteed.

And now to my favorite muse, Elle Woods, of Legally Blonde, who famously told us -- "Endorphin's make you happy.  Happy people just don't shoot their husbands [or people in general]."

Where does such happiness come?

It's a peacefulness that passes all understanding; it's living a good life -- even if that means working really hard to earn a little living, carving out a life, raising a family; it's making ends meet  -- even if that means eating peanut butter and jelly four out of five dinners; it's doing our homework, showing up for the job, walking to the bus stop, saving our money, making sure our children are asleep and in bed by 8 maybe 8;30 with a book on a school night, it's saying our prayers, it's storing our guns in safe places, it's respecting the police, it's loving our neighbors as ourselves, it's honoring our father and our mother, it's not coveting our neighbor's husband/wife/or things, it's recognizing right from wrong, it's not selling drugs, it's not participating in gangs, it's not shooting up our communities, it's not breaking the law, it's telling the truth, it's living in peace, peacefully, in brotherly love.  Oh, and I could go on.

Living such a life of peacefulness breeds a life of peacefulness...

This sort of peacefulness sanctifies our days, carrying the natural power to settle us down and shelter us, even when confronted with great transgressions -- whether of our own making or another's.

The thing is -- not sure a time of protest is what will save us right now.

It seems to be more of a time to prepare, unite, and RISE in One Direction, demonstrably infallible and everlasting.

[And this is kinda funny, given my inclination to watch the signs -- it is no accident that just today, Heather MacDonald was on the radio with Rush...Of course, he was only a month behind the old g thing...just sayin'....tee hee]

The light of a new day in America is as close as my integrity linking arms with your integrity and so on and so on -- for it's our moral duty to country, for our future; and it begins with telling the truth, and living by the truth, so help me God, case closed.

May God bless our law enforcement in Dallas, and everywhere, today and all the days of our lives...

It's a Data Driven Day to Know Things

Dear America,

Day After the Orlando Mass Shooting 

Obama was almost without expression. A president sans passion, he was avoiding all connection to what really happened...cue the 911 calls made by the shooter, himself, declaring just that in real time.

The president didn't say much; although, he went on to say this:

"We are still learning all the facts. This is an open investigation. We’ve reached no definitive judgment on the precise motivations of the killer. The FBI is appropriately investigating this as an act of terrorism. And I’ve directed that we must spare no effort to determine what—if any—inspiration or association this killer may have had with terrorist groups. What is clear is that he was a person filled with hatred. Over the coming days, we’ll uncover why and how this happened, and we will go wherever the facts lead us."

...carefully maneuvering around the grenades with political correctness.

Surprisingly, he did make an astounding shout out to the police and first responders...you know, given how much this administration has lambasted the policing efforts to keep the peace amidst accusations of racism and misconduct within the ranks (more on that maybe later).  Anyway, he added:

"We also express our profound gratitude to all the police and first responders who rushed into harm’s way. Their courage and professionalism saved lives, and kept the carnage from being even worse. It’s the kind of sacrifice that our law enforcement professionals make every single day for all of us, and we can never thank them enough."

But dare I say again, the president was flat, almost lifeless.  His expression dull and yet wrought with the task of restoring order and calm to a nation in shock.

In the face of overwhelming evidence, with priors -- from FBI probes to associations with radicals to creepy and dangerous signs of flaws with-in and with-out character and virtue -- Omar Mir Seddique Mateen was evil, radicalized, and a danger to society long before Saturday night.

Read This.

Shocking is every little thing we now come to find out about this man, Mateen; and more important, the reckless, lawless, free-for-all happening within an administration gone terribly rogue.

But next on the president's speech agenda list, this is what followed:

"This is an especially heartbreaking day for all our friends—our fellow Americans—who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. The shooter targeted a nightclub where people came together to be with friends, to dance and to sing, and to live. The place where they were attacked is more than a nightclub—it is a place of solidarity and empowerment where people have come together to raise awareness, to speak their minds, and to advocate for their civil rights."

And lo and behold -- coming out just this morning, location location location seems paramount to the paramour in Mateen, as he was a regular patron at the Pulse nightclub for years. This news rather confuses things a wee bit, now doesn't it?

And so, as we continue to pick apart the president's speech limb by limb, he proceeded -- 

and he did so rather un-apologetically even, almost showing signs of life and new found liberty in the pursuit of happiness to remake the second amendment, but I digress ...

--  he proceeded to stun the nation even further by pivoting to gun control, by saying:

"Today marks the most deadly shooting in American history. The shooter was apparently armed with a handgun and a powerful assault rifle. This massacre is therefore a further reminder of how easy it is for someone to get their hands on a weapon that lets them shoot people in a school, or in a house of worship, or a movie theater, or in a nightclub. And we have to decide if that’s the kind of country we want to be. And to actively do nothing is a decision as well."

Just maybe, perhaps all troubled homosexuals, those in conflict with their sexual identity meeting up with their Islamic faith, if not Allah himself, need to be on the top of the list of people not allowed to get guns.  No wait, he had a security clearance.  Oh what to do, what to do...

Indeed, "to actively do nothing is a decision as well," isn't it, Mr. President -- as this administration continues to force Americans to wear the nation's vulnerabilities in national security on our sleeve, allowing for all roads to lead to failure under the guise of "the kind of country we want to be" premise.  Perhaps if the president spent more time considering how a guy like Mateen could work for a Department of Homeland Security  contractor -- and one that moves illegals in and around the nation, to boot -- could get this kind of job, let alone guns, might be the wiser place to start.  See also Trump and the Trojan Horse phenomenon.

Here's the president's big finish:

"As we go together, we will draw inspiration from heroic and selfless acts—friends who helped friends, took care of each other and saved lives. In the face of hate and violence, we will love one another. We will not give in to fear or turn against each other. Instead, we will stand united, as Americans, to protect our people, and defend our nation, and to take action against those who threaten us. 

May God bless the Americans we lost this morning. May He comfort their families. May God continue to watch over this country that we love. Thank you."

He said all of that last part only because he had to.  (No, little g isn't bitter much.)

I mean, honestly, what did he really mean by "take action against those who threaten us?"  What did he really mean by that if he can't even call it by name?  Will he dare say that we are at war with ISIS, and every other free radical operating from fundamental Islamic rule set out to extinguish the infidels of the world...for they are clearly unafraid to say that they are at war against us?

But how many times do we need to go over this --

It's not about the gun!

It's about the person shooting the gun; no amount of gun control will stop a person with evil intent, and hatred in their heart, from committing murder -- whether we are talking one, thirteen, fifty or 3000.  And given homicidal thoughts translated into action cover a plethora of material -- from knives, bombs, guns, cars, buses, trains, airplanes, the pick of the poison is not the problem.   It is about creating a stable, law-abiding, virtuous community of human beings living in harmony with one another.

And finally -- we are at the thing I most wanted you to read today.

It comes from Hillsdale, Imprimis and it dates back a few months to April, but don't let that trouble you.  It's an adaptation of a speech delivered at the Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies in Washington, D.C.; the speaker being Heather Mac Donald, and author of The War on Cops.   

Basically, she begins with this:

"The need is urgent, therefore, to examine the Black Lives Matter movement’s central thesis—that police pose the greatest threat to young black men. I propose two counter hypotheses: first, that there is no government agency more dedicated to the idea that black lives matter than the police; and second, that we have been talking obsessively about alleged police racism over the last 20 years in order to avoid talking about a far larger problem—black-on-black crime."

Now I offer you this read, at this time, to look at a particular point she makes within settling the science on the Black Lives Matter movement.  Of course, I'm counting upon you to actually read every word of this short response made by Mac Donald, but let me assure you, she elevates what is deemed to be a jaw-dropping policy change that began in the nineties in New York City, and became widely known as Compstat -- regular accountability sessions, analyzing crime patterns on a daily, hourly basis, by neighborhood, by race, by boots on the ground, day in and day out.   And as she says:

"In terms of economic stimulus alone, no other government program has come close to the success of data-driven policing. In New York City, businesses that had shunned previously drug-infested areas now set up shop there, offering residents a choice in shopping and creating a demand for workers. Senior citizens felt safe to go to the store or to the post office to pick up their Social Security checks. Children could ride their bikes on city sidewalks without their mothers worrying that they would be shot. But the crime victories of the last two decades, and the moral support on which law and order depends, are now in jeopardy thanks to the falsehoods of the Black Lives Matter movement."

Stop.

Take a look at what she calls "data-driven policing" and stop.

The data does not lie.

Moreover, the data almost holds a gun to our head to effect change. Data driven policing has worked for not only NYC, but a multitude of police departments across the nation, where real, accountable, tangible progress has been made.  Crime went down.

We live in a time where data flows freely, nearly to the extent that we cannot keep up with it (that coming from one lowly little person to another); or is it more correct, politically or otherwise, to pick and choose the data we wish to pay attention to, and redistribute, just to prove a point, to drive an agenda wee wee, wee wee, all the way home?

The data does not lie when it comes to Black Lives, White Lives, Hispanic Lives...cops lives....all of which, dare I add, matter, equally.

The data does not lie when it comes to radicalization and infiltration in America:  see Fort Hood, Chatanooga, San Bernardino, Orlando...And it is there, all there.  We just have to have our eyes open wide enough to see it.  

As we began the day, the president said, "...we know enough to say that this was an act of terror and an act of hate."

In my humble opinion, we know a whole lot more than that, Mr. President.  

It is time to stop all immigration, full stop.  

It's time to close our borders and stop all incoming, grenades and all -- whether it be illegal migration, refugee resettlement, legal migration, it all matters and becomes a tangible, non-negotiable, non-discriminating, DATA DRIVEN composite of a security breach equally and across the board.  Until we count the heads we have here and now, on this day, and go deep, investigating discovery, as if we are all preparing for trial without error, then we have no idea who is here, or who wishes to do harm, or any other statistic under the sun deemed vitally important.  

Data driven policing meet data driven policy.  End of discussion.

There are known knowns. 

These are things we know that we know. 

There are known unknowns. 

That is to say, there are things 

that we know we don't know. 

But there are also unknown unknowns. 

There are things we don't know we don't know.

my heart lies with the families who awoke Sunday morning experiencing the greatest of loss... having a loved one taken away from them in the most brutal of ways...so unexpectedly, so without warrant, and in such unimaginable horror.  God be with you all.
