But surely, all's well that ends, as my mama says --  so here I am, finally, and all the while still stumbling for the right words in this process of getting all my wheels on the ground and coming to a complete stop before unbuckling my seat belt and jumping back into my life full steam ahead.

speaking of steam, oh to celebrating the nation's holiday of America's Independence in the city where it all happens -- in Washington DC!  It surely did not disappoint! 

Timing is everything and talk about fireworks. 

Yikes to the Nike's for caving into a false narrative of our founding and making a total mess of a certain HERstory -- namely, of Betsy Ross (and that link there, is a good one...love my Star Parker, you go girl).   Truth be told, although there were many women doing their thing way in the background way back when, Betsy was, like, you know, the one and only true symbol of women taking an active part in the American Revolution.

Colin, like, I thought your beef was with police brutality against the black man?  How did we go from that to this -- a full blown, knock down, war against America herself?

TO be clear, and to be more bold, offering up a little context that many of you might understand a wee bit better --  this Betsy flag --  the one celebrating our thirteen fire breathing colonies posturing to wreak havoc upon the king and queens across the pond.... that flag...that flag was like the first Rainbow flag!  k, ya dig?  You get it now?

Shame on you, Colin -- and how you got away with it, I have no idea. 

Every women's organization should be throwing down shade one after the other, every which way to Sunday and back,  upon this disgraceful show of disrespect...talk about misogyny!  Where's the ESPY award for that, cuz Nike and Colin are all tied up right about now and it's gonna be a photo finish.   And especially as we are coming into this new season,  of celebrating a woman's right to vote -- the 100th anniversary in August 2020 no less! 

Oh, but to diss Betsy like so, to diss the first flag, to diss our long struggle of fighting for the freedoms every single one of us ridiculously enjoy every day...this first flag, celebrating the 13 colonies joining forces against pure oppression, against England, meant something so much bigger than Colin is even capable of recognizing, let alone understanding.  And same goes for that Nike guy and CEO, Mark Parker.  If you hate America so much, then maybe you two should consider living somewhere else.  Maybe, just maybe, you should stop exploiting Americans by making money off of such lies and steam engine fodder and go live the rest of your days, say, in Venezuela. 

Colin -- would it have been better if the revolution didn't work out so well?  If perhaps, this land and your land, in the company of so much of the royal colonization around the world, was STILL under the control of Great Britain and the Church of England?   Would that have been a better ending to the war that ultimately revolutionized the entire globe?

The thing is, THIS is why teaching history, HERstory, is so freeeking important!  CONTEXT is everything.   The era, itself, is meaningful.  The culture of the day gives credence to the day.  And fortunately, all things continue to change over time itself.    Betsy Ross, being a Quaker, was a fighter against slavery; she was on the right side of history, even while history revealed serious faults throughout the struggle of equality for all.

The thing is --  we learn so much when we are learned people and understand from which we all came --  the good, the bad, and the ugly notwithstanding.  (Oh to witness the books from Thomas J's personal library, all I wanted to do was break the glass and smell the pages of a book he once turned; an incredible place the Library of Congress, put that on your bucket list if you have not gone already. but I digress.)

 
Hail to the few and the proud who purchased the Nike Betsy Ross Sneaker before it was pulled; going to their capitalism war chest of tools and ammo, some scored $2000 on the after market collector's market instantly created upon her loss.    Isn't capitalism rich?  indeed.

This girl had a Fourth of July to remember back in the District of Columbia, leaving footprints all over the city, from DAR Headquarters and Constitution Hall, crossing the ellipse umpteen times, to visiting our National Cathedral, to the Library of Congress, to the rooftop of my darling daughter's first apartment (a roof with a view that spans all the way from the National Cathedral, all the way across town... where steeples peek out from the treetops, to the nation's Capitol building rising up against the twilight sky, to the Washington Monument, to the Kennedy Center and the majestic Potomac, all with a fireworks show that lit up hearts and minds in equal portion, no matter rich or poor, all over town).

Although every day was met with an unimaginable level of hot and steamy temperatures, making it unbearably difficult to truly enjoy the great outdoors, I must say, capitalism is alive and well in this fine American neck of the woods.  Alive and well.  What a beautiful thing to behold.

It's an All American Rumble and Fumble Fest Thing

Dear America,

"Believe in something.

fabulous; and what a jarring way to segue from the easy breezy summer compositions to the full on, rough and tumble of fall ball.  Are we ready to roll, or what?

so we have football being politically charged, double-doubles being politically charged, and now sneakers....

Oh Nike -- it's a great message.... just the wrong face at the wrong time.  And YOU know it. 

Nike stepped into this campaign knowing full well the controversy would score some, and simultaneously, and explosively, take some away.  And NIKE DID IT anyway.

What is clear, given the reality that conservatives and many independents -- people leaning just right of center, to full throttle right, to everything in-between -- like working out, too.  These people, many being my people, like to just do it, just as much as the left guy, right.   And yet, Nike purposely elected to cut off relations with all these people in one move, overnight.  Stunning.  Calculating. And in my mind, just wondering if it was worth it? 

Time will tell.

Clearly, Nike picked a side.

And just as the president noted yesterday -- something like, he didn't like it, but  "this is what this country is all about"  -- and putting this in a more complete context, simply pointing out that the company has every right to make its own business decisions....To which, all this girl can add would be that he is absolutely right.

Further --  it is upon this very notion -- that the Left must concede, that even the Christian bakers and pizza makers also have every right to "pick a side" -- no matter the issue, the catalyst, for picking a side, and standing by that something to believe in,  in the first place.  We take our rumbles and fumbles with great pride.   EVERY  business has EVERY right to sacrifice EVERYTHING when they BELIEVE in SOMETHING!  [And I believe that goes double when in favor of Something really big, like, um, God, but what do I know, I'm just a girl x teehee]

INDIVIDUALLY -- we each have every right to make a choice -- aka to make our bed and lay in it --  each and every moment of the day, in every set of circumstances/conditions, that in proper turn, instantly give way to whatever consequences may lay in wait; for every action has a reaction, right. And naturally, without prejudice, this describes --  precisely --  how cause and effect works.  Our rumbles and fumbles work individually and collectively, large and small, macro and micro alike.

BELIEVE in something,

It was the pastor at Aretha's funeral -- the Rev. Jasper Williams Jr. --- who had the nerve to call out the issue of black on black crime...and in an instant, boy did he turn up the volume to controversy; when surely he was just speaking his truth, perhaps even the truth, to an audience who should know better...and in turn, is still standing firm to that something something said out loud, something awfully good and totally praise worthy:

"I said black do not matter, because black lives cannot matter, will not matter, should not matter, must not matter until black people begin to respect their own lives. Then and only then will black lives matter. That's what I said, and again, and again, and again. We need to have respect for each other. Once we start doing that, then we can begin to change."

HE BELIEVES in something even if it means sacrificing everything....He just said it, did it, and is faithfully standing behind it....
and just where oh where did his respect go?   Anyone?

Hey, even up-Chuck Todd can believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything, or nothing, really, given his reality is totally tainted...given he's surrounded by a band of liberal media brothers and sisters who think the same thing, and say the same thing, and do the same thing, day in and day out and shamelessly have his back.  Please, just stop doing it, up-Chuck. please.

Where was the unbiased reporting on the umpteen acts of Executive overreach of the Obama Administration -- namely, you know, writing new immigration policy by Executive Order is a misuse of presidential power, right?  Where was the unbiased reporting of the over half of Americans who were not in favor of Obamacare, who had republican representation in Washington DC without one single vote in favor of it?  Where was the unbiased reporting of Hillary wiping clean any and all evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors, and even erasing her hard-drive, after using an insecure server (with China hacking in!), after her botched handling of Benghazi, when four Americans died, including an ambassador, as Secretary of State, and then trying to cover it all up with a lie about a video?    Where is the unbiased reporting of the fake dossier, and the long record of corruption within the DNC and the FBI?  Where is the unbiased reporting of the Clinton Foundation and its involvement of the sale of uranium to Russia?!

The thing is, there are just too many things to count.

The thing is, there are just too many things that  MY mainstream media intentionally, and manipulatively, fully IGNORES!   And this girl just can't ignore that.

Does this mean that other cable-news networks should follow Fox News’s lead and become advocates? That’s not the answer. Newspapers did this in the early 19th century, when they operated as arms of the political parties.

Instead of attacking rivals, or assailing critics—going negative,in the parlance of political campaigns—reporters need to showcase and defend our reporting. Every day, we need to do our job, check our facts, strive to be transparent, and say what we’re seeing. That’s what I’ve tried to do here. I’ve seen a nearly 50-year campaign to delegitimize the press, and I’m saying so. For years, I didn’t say a word about this publicly, and at times I even caught myself drawing false equivalencies because I was afraid of being labeled as biased. I know that stating the obvious will draw attacks, but I’ve also learned that the louder critics bark, the more they care about what’s being reported.

I’m not advocating for a more activist press in the political sense, but for a more aggressive one. That means having a lower tolerance for talking points, and a greater willingness to speak plain truths. It means not allowing ourselves to be spun, and not giving guests or sources a platform to spin our readers and viewers, even if that angers them. Access isn’t journalism’s holy grail—facts are. 

What a crock,  you mean, you're not advocating to continue to be an activist press, only an aggressive one?  What does that even mean?  Isn't that a contradiction -- how can facts have characteristics at all -- how do you tell of the facts, while being aggressive in telling the news at the same time?  Are you really telling the American people facts -- or are they just the facts packaged according to how you want the American people to hear it?

OH and I love love love your last line-- "Ask yourself why someone is so determined to convince you not to believe your lying eyes."

But so happy you live in a country that allows you to live within your four walls of delusional reporting of the truth, all -- how do you say -- all fifty years of it;  that this country celebrates the independence and freedom that gives you every right to believe in something, even if that means sacrificing everything -- even if that everything is the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

It's a Collision Course of Stories Thing

its like, half the time, this girl goes through hell and back just trying to figure out the proper use of the word, its -- is it it's or its ? It gives me a headache every time.  Having said that, if you are into rules, just go here.

Speaking of which, this girl can't wait for Kaepernick's book to come out.  A million dollar book deal!  Can you even believe it?  A million dollars!  And for what?  What story does he have to tell?

  

How his girlfriend twisted his little pee brain of his into thinking he could both raise awareness to his need for a better football contract (after deciding -- free will and all --  to go free agent, and dare I add, bringing a whole 'nother level to the phrase pee-wee football, badump ba) AND raise awareness to one of her favorite leftist causes, that police brutality is rooted in systemic racism -- and eventually growing into a full blown protest, using the national anthem as its leading protagonist. 

indeed.  that was a run on sentence.  shoot me.

But really now -- the thing is -- couldn't we all write Colin's story by now?  What is he going to tell us that we don't already know?  

We have watched his every move.

We have seen all the plays.

We could write his lack of a storybook ending from start to finish without skipping a beat, why? Because whining never prospers!  (And that's just the crib notes, k)

Kaepernick's pompous, imperious ego -- the one back behind the budding author of a million dollar book deal --  is evidence of an unfortunate transformation.  To think, after all these years, allowing for his natural humility to reign, respective of it being a team sport, and all -- practically sheltering his natural talent, impressive skills, hard work and rock star salary from the world;  its like, almost overnight, all the forces that were once with him, all collided on the field in full force against him. Oh what a reversal of fortune!

Oh don't get me wrong -- this girl is quite familiar with the kind of fuel that only a little sass can bring, okay?

I get it...I tend to start my day with as much of it as possible whenever I can.

What drives me crazy, though, is a sticky thing; it's called the truth.

1. The unrelenting anthem protests -- although enriched with the good idea to raise awareness for the common good in treating all people equally -- are actually based upon a lie (actually, make that multiple lies...but we've tackled that, here on the old gthing, one too many times before to rehash again, in the here and now.).  

2.  Before sitting on the bench, before taking his first knee, Kaepernick's own stats were on the decline.  

3.  As a general rule, what kind of all-American football team wants to pay a guy knee deep in controversy, and ripe with contempt, a salary of any kind --  let alone a handsome one?

4.  And here's the real kicker -- Kaepernick chose his path.  He elected to go free agent!  He elected to take his chances!  His little pee brain made him think he was worth more than he really was, naturally playing out a very simple principle of the free market.

5.  and about that claim of Collusion, the Lawsuit?

It's About Nefarious Things

Dear America,

and just like so we begin a new day.

I'm in the midst of waiting for a large pizza to arrive at my door: ordered "the works" from a local woodfired brick oven pizza joint, Pizza Nova --  and when I say "the works," it's including bait (but on the side).  "Bait" -- the anchovy -- needs to be monitored by the bite in my book.  But I mostly want the bait, served on the side, so that I can add it to the small Caesar Salad that is coming along with, as an accompaniment to the gluttony about to take place  -- it's what you do as a single girl ordering enough pizza for a crowd...a LARGE! When in reality, its only you; and we all know salad doesn't keep.  But, if all goes as planned, aiming to have the pizza last for at least three days...we'll see though...as this girl loves her pizza.

Besides, now beginning to rationalize a rash decision that was decided in about three seconds,  I walked today...about three miles worth, too.

But, who's counting?

Bet Harvey Weinstein stopped counting in the mid 90's...

Just a shame, though.  As Ashley Judd didn't seem to be affected by nasty men until Trump came along on the scene, am I right?  yes.  It's like, seriously, Ashley?   I mean, where were you with the nasty gal poems and the pu***y hats way back when?   Just another brick in the wall.

Here's how the now resigned attorney for Weinstein, Lisa Bloom,  puts it  --- oh he's just “an old dinosaur learning new ways.”  Yeah, yeah.  Just an old dinosaur learning new ways.  right.  [Now, only a few days later, she is walking away from defending Weinstein, and being his "adviser;" seems not wise for the old dinosaur of a resume now in shambles.  It's also what you have to do when Gloria Allred is your mom.]  Just another brick in the wall.

But isn't Harvey, in reality,  just behaving the way Hollywood has always been?

Thus, it's about time for all Hollywood hypocrites to come up on stage and receive their award...oh, don't be shy now...c'mon.  Starting with Ashley Judd, then to Madonna -- who made her own picture book titled "Sex."  I mean, c'mon....really?  That book came out in 1992; perhaps about the same time Harvey was begging for Judd to watch him take a shower; it's only fitting to the era, right?

Of course, Harvey puts a whole new spin on his movies -- as "Good Will Hunting" and "Pulp Fiction" meet up on a Hollywood couch with the "Sex. Lies, Videotape" to record every sordid minute.  Oh the shame,  Oh the horror. Oh the comedy for all the rest of us -- mostly conservatives --  as we watch and listen to this nonsense play out like a bad fiddle.  Just another brick in the wall.

In other news today -- Sunday -- apparently Colin Kaepernick would consider standing for the anthem if he could get signed on with a team.   Oh that is rich, isn't it?  Of course, his radicalized girlfriend is denying that that's what he said, and there is still no sign of any franchise interested in taking him anyway...you know, considering all the controversy served up along on the side...a protest built upon a lie, framing a leftist hidden agenda.  So what has really changed?  Nothing.

Now this girl is all for free speech; but this kneeling for the anthem is different sort of animal -- it's as if Colin, and others, are committing a crime against community.... the community of good will, the community of supporting all those who protect us, the community of unity and standing together to fix our issues.  It's as if they throw a brick against America and stomp on the flag every time.  [And I know Pence is with me...]

As Kaepernick tweets: "A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on," while attributing the quote to Winston Churchill.  (Even though history proves that that, too, is in question.)  OH okay, Colin, then if that rumor is not true, keep on keepin' on with your approach then...yeah, yeah...everything should turn out just fine.

Oh it's just so entertaining, isn't it?

But I do love the Churchill quote.  Even if it isn't his.  It's a good quote.

It kinda describes everything going on in this world right about now, right?

The truth is missing in action; and when it finally arrives, it's almost too late.  The damage has been done, and not only done, but it's been tweeted, and re-tweeted, way too many times to count; and all the while, the real truth, the whole truth, is forced under a cushion somewhere seedy and dirty, hoping that no one finds out.

It all ties together -- this business of...by the time something catches up to you, what does it matter anymore  -- right, Weinstein? Living a lie catches up to us one way or another every time.  Right, Miss "what difference, at this point, does it make" Hillary?  Let's just add the nefarious, and naked -- as we can see right threw her, Hillary to the mix.  She knew, that we knew, that she knew, she was telling a lie all along.  She knew she threw a brick the moment she said it.  Ah but that was so long ago, right... 

Harvey/Hillary had to have known that one day, this charade would all catch up to him, whether it took a few years or a couple of decades.  One day, it would become too much of a good thing to continue to be hidden.  One day -- the lie(s) would become so big, so ugly, so damaging, that it could not contain itself any longer. Just another brick in the wall.  Kudos Pink Floyd. 

So as Harvey is rushing to get his pants on;

as Hillary is rushing to get her pants suit on and maybe give it a go for a third time (which is just stupid, by the way.  please don't.);

as Kaepernick is just hoping to get a football uniform back on...

all of these American stories simply depict one thing...

just how easy it is to fall from grace.

Our humanity can get the best of us at any time; none of us are immune.

But let's just leave the hypocrisy at home along with the American Express card, shall we?

This girl has had enough of it.  Enough already.

Nefarious.  Naked.  America.  What's next?  Who's next?  We see everything eventually.

But let me tell you, in about three seconds I will be spinning the floor with a slice in my right hand, and a shot of whiskey in the other, and dancing to a little R&B, or maybe Pink Floyd, or maybe Michael Jackson, or maybe Cigarettes After Sex (and yes, that's a real name of a real band; and they are really good, too.  A yummy sound that makes you wanna sway, even if your only company is a big fat pizza to eat all by yourself.)  ....Cuz that's just the kinda day it's turned out to be.

If we are being honest, it's not about any one thing.

As foundations keep crumbling, America is breaking brick by brick.

It's a slow death; the whiskey and the pizza are merely dulling the pain for one night.

It's an Oh Say Can You See Thing

Dear America,

now let's apply this to the nation, alongside what seems to be multiple orbits of agenda's and politics swirling around each other, oh so madly.

where does it end?  how does it end?

or is this just the way it is now -- the settled science according to the modern, although rather ignorant, world -- that we have reached an age when a patriotic co-existence without politics simply doesn't have a chance to breathe, let alone survive, in America? 

it's just so sad

the Pittsburgh Steelers attempted to simply stay out of it - deciding as a team to stay off the sidelines and remain in the locker room while the national anthem played; they chose not to make a stand either way.  Oh the irony, right?  For as they purposely placed themselves smack dab in the center -- may as well call it the fifty yard line -- lo and behold, Alejandro Villanueva, the Afghanistan Veteran, broke away from the huddle.  He just couldn't do it.  In a blink of an eye, he went out to the field and stood there all by himself.  The rest of the team didn't see it coming.

The result?  Instant political bombs bursting in air, with Tomlin and team becoming the topic of conversation, be it left, right or center.  Although the team wanted to stay neutral, out of the fray, at the end of the day, their actions proved the exact opposite reaction.

What did Coach Tomlin say?  "Like I said, I was looking for 100 percent participation [to not participate with the civic honor to cross our heart while the Star Spangled Banner played, in unison with an entire stadium of fellow patriots], we were gonna be respectful of our football team."

So they thought it made more sense to be disrespectful of decades of tradition  -- 

the one where two teams stand on the sidelines.... directly across the field from each other... while beginning the contest on certain, common ground... saluting the land of the free and the home of the brave -- the one that gave them all an opportunity of getting paid millions playing a game, no less.

So they thought it made more sense to be disrespectful of country -- 

Tomlin calculated that it would be wiser to choose to respect their football team, over the respect of the whole --  be it the stadium full of paying football season ticket holders, or all 300 million of us intrepidly attempting to co-exist within the boundaries of this nation and be patriotic at the same time.  wow

thing is -- Tomlin and team made a choice.  As much as there may be good reason to admire the team as they attempted to stay out of it; it is no surprise that hiding stands equally off-putting.

By choosing to stay in the locker room, they opted to take sides smack dab square with the side of political correctness; instead of rising above it all and coming out to the sidelines like a bunch of big boys, with a spirit of good sportsmanship, they put the football between their legs and huddled in the protection of each other and displayed a certain, offensive sense of arrogance against what is best for the country -- and more than that, what is best for the sport in which they play!

More than anything else, all this nonsense --  all this divisiveness being drummed up and now multiplied from one Sunday to the next -- is not being productive in any way, shape, or form.

And proving to be such a disservice, too, bearing in mind, that each of these players are uniquely positioned with the complete honor of influencing the next generation of impressionable minds -- whether future football players or not, our children are watching this!

And just to be clear -- Trump didn't make this issue political, like, yesterday.

It began being political the day Colin Kaepernick took a knee. Saying,“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”   [While under contract and making  11.6 million dollars in 2016; and bear in mind, it began over perceived police brutality against African-American men committing crimes, targeting the anthem to curry anti-police, and in turn anti-American, sentiment.]

To commentary from Sports Anchor Jim Brown:

“I’m going to give you the real deal. I’m an American. I don’t desecrate my flag and my national anthem. I’m not gonna do anything against the flag and the national anthem. … This is my country, and I’ll work out the problems, but I’ll do it in an intelligent manner.”

Of course, President Trump may have become the antagonist-in-chief, interjecting into such a political football conversation....oh well, so be it.   Let it be, let it be; and may it be the kind of political muscle that breaks the growing, unconscionable, un-American trend, somehow, some way.

Antagonist:  1.  One who opposes and actively competes with another; adversary 2. Anatomy, A muscle that opposes another muscle.

Indeed. 

Nothing wrong with that, right?  This is pure nature against nature.

Sure, we all have a right to speak up -- even a president.  

If Colin has a right to speak his peace, then so does the president of the United States, as well as, all the rest of us in between.  The very ability for Trump to speak freely -- against the establishment, upon twitter, and all, no matter how ugly  -- was the precise reason he was elected president.

But make no mistake, this American anthem protest during the quintessential all-American game of football  -- by the sidelines, the taking of a knee, the staying in the locker room until its over --

is all about muscle meeting up with muscle.   

It's muscle opposing muscle kicked up to catatonic levels; pretty soon, nobody will be able to move freely; nobody will be able to just watch a little football, in peace, and eat an afternoon away with nachos and beers simply for the love of the game.  

The THING IS, these actions -- gaining steam in both directions faster than a two minute warning --  are pulling us, the body of all Americans, further and further apart.

And this will not end good if we continue on this trajectory.

Nobody wants politics in football.  Nobody.

These players who continue to protest such as they are will not only ruin the game, they will destroy the means of providing for their very own livelihood; nobody wants to pay to see this behavior. 

You've made your point; now let's see what true community activism can do; go back to being a football player, go back to being a mentor of strong character to those who look up to you, go back to being good sports, go back to standing up out of respect, because respect is just the proper way to go.

Now -- here's a total reversal for you, according to the field of blog -- and it comes courtesy of an event attended over the weekend.

The local chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution gathered together for an annual celebration of the signing of the Constitution.  At this event, the DAR requested proclamations from every entity from sea to shining sea, from local mayors all the way up to the president of the United States.  We must have received twenty or thirty of them. [And yes, the president wrote a beautiful two-page spread.]

But the real kicker came courtesy of our very own state of California, Governor Jerry Brown.

Multiple requests were denied.

Here's a guy -- who took an actual oath to uphold the Constitution -- showing just where his solidarity lies; and it's not standing, locked arm in arm, with the rest of us.  How sad is that?

He may as well have just sent us an instagram shot of him taking a knee.  

Politics used to be so fair, and way more fun; but when did the Constitution become political?

First the flag,

then commemorative statues,

and now the Constitution, Jerry?  E tu Brute Brown?

As more and more leftist activists -- and some actually in office --  claim to matter MORE than the rest of us and gaining at the speed of light, ultimately the whole of the nation will be unable to take the hits; pure momentum is growing in the favor of radicals, with the help of the mainstream leftist media and a multitude of leftist muscle proclaiming to be unarguably absolute, no need for debate -- no matter how un-American it  may look.  They don't care.  Any and all opposition may as well just take their ball and go home, according to the left.

Football was better when we were all on the same field, when we all mattered just being part of the one body known as Americans, when we all just came together in one place to root for our favorite team and still leave friends.

But this mess -- this mess was created by one football player, which led to another football player, and then another, and so on.  Football players continue to antagonize the issue each and every time they choose to take a knee.  As the cosmic laws of cause and effect multiply, only bad energy can come of it.  bad, bad energy.

They surely don't see it that way; but that doesn't mean it is any less true.  The coaches should have nipped this one in the budweiser a long, long time ago. [But what do I know, I'm just a girl..]

And besides -- speaking of me, teehee  --  this girl just may 'have mixed drinks about feelings,' but football is not designed to be a sport about people's feelings.  Players get hit!   Guys get hurt!  Even the stands might get a little ugly.  But at the end of the day, it is sport!  It is a bloody, ugly and brutal display of muscle -- pure force against another force.  Spectators yell and scream; players call each other names; and nobody leaves a stadium unaffected... 

...having all of that begin after a friendly singing of our Star Spangled Banner and a salute to the flag at least gave us the proper foundation before all hell broke loose, yes?

oh say can you see

what a mess that was made.

i pray, that it stops,

It's Can We All Behave Thing

Dear America,

so Colin (and a teammate Eric Reid) kneeled during the national anthem last night, here in San Diego; which is far better than sitting on the bench, right?  Either somebody got to him to straighten out a wee bit -- or -- something deep down inside him made him tweek his stance in order to meet America half way.  And this girl considers that, a good start. 

Not only did he kneel, but he also said this after the game:

 "I'm not anti-American. I love America," said Kaepernick, who stayed on the field long after the game to sign autographs for enthusiastic fans. "I love people. That's why I'm doing this. I want to help make America better, and I think having these conversations helps everybody have a better understanding of where everybody is coming from."

Speaking of the American Huddle of yesterday's blog, we can all appreciate that, right; for surely we didn't get this love of country message upon his first anthem protest.

So let's then continue the conversation.  It's what Colin is asking for and that's easy enough...to talk about it, right?

If we look to having "a better understanding of where everybody is coming from," then everybody is everybody.  So props to Colin for giving us all permission to discuss it.

And considering Colin voluntarily became a catalyst of this new found freedom of expression against oppression of our time  -- a time when  grassroots activism called "Black Lives Matter" has become all the rage, raising awareness of police brutality against people of color, highlighting how many in the black community consider this an illustration of the continued oppression against blacks in America -- leading many, like Colin, to outright disrespect the flag for which she stands until
such change comes.

And it makes me wonder -- what does that change really look like, how do we get there from here, given the facts surrounding the whole truth about this alleged oppression by police within the black community?  At what point will Colin believe we have reached resolution?

As Heather Mac Donald pointed out -- in the Hillsdale publication, Imprimis, April 2016  (See  my early summer blogs on this in particular....here and here; might I add, this issue of Imprimis is gaining alot of mileage on the old gthing...we can't seem to stop bringing it up....funny how a little truth goes far, but I digress.) --

"We have been here before.  In the 1960's and early 1970's, black and white radicals directed hatred and occasional violence against the police.  The difference today is that anti-cop ideology is embraced at the highest reaches of the establishment:  by the President, by his Attorney General, by college presidents, by foundation heads, and by the press."

As Heather illuminated with statistic after statistic, we have reached a new age for modern America, and it just so happens to take us backwards --  having reached a time where violence against the police has doubled during the first three months of 2016, and in it's more minute expression, an age of sitting during the national anthem on the sidelines of America's favorite past time.

More Heather:

"Given the history of racism in this country and the complicity of the police in that history, police shootings of black men are particularly and understandably fraught. That history informs how many people view the police. But however intolerable and inexcusable every act of police brutality is, and while we need to make sure that the police are properly trained in the Constitution and in courtesy, there is a larger reality behind the issue of policing, crime, and race that remains a taboo topic. The problem of black-on-black crime is an uncomfortable truth, but unless we acknowledge it, we won’t get very far in understanding patterns of policing."

You know, Colin -- if you care about understanding the larger reality of black on black crime -- you should consider reading what Heather Mac Donald has to say; matter of fact, I wish you had, back in April, perhaps then this whole phase might look a whole lot different by now, right?

And shocking! --  and surely, Colin,  you will concur -- is the truth of violent crime committed in America's 75 largest counties...From data compiled in 2009, Heather notes:  "blacks constituted 62 percent of all robbery defendants, 57 percent of all murder defendants, 45 percent of all assault defendants—but only 15 percent of the population."

and while this isn't a statistic anyone in the black community wants to talk about, the ugly truth of what's happening within the black community must also understand what the black community does to itself:

"Every year, approximately 6,000 blacks are murdered. This is a number greater than white and Hispanic homicide victims combined, even though blacks are only 13 percent of the national population. Blacks are killed at six times the rate of whites and Hispanics combined. In Los Angeles, blacks between the ages of 20 and 24 die at a rate 20 to 30 times the national mean. Who is killing them? Not the police, and not white civilians, but other blacks. The astronomical black death-by-homicide rate is a function of the black crime rate. Black males between the ages of 14 and 17 commit homicide at ten times the rate of white and Hispanic male teens combined. Blacks of all ages commit homicide at eight times the rate of whites and Hispanics combined, and at eleven times the rate of whites alone."

So when Colin wants to have this conversation, can we include this reality hiding in the shadows on the field?

It is interesting that Colin -- with tats of Bible verses up and down his hot bod -- wasn't so vocal until he met his new girl.  A year of indoctrination by dating later,  the influence of a beautiful Muslim activist upon this all American football heavyweight  heart is showing. Ahhh yes, love, that explains it -- for the love of pete; Colin's love of country is all asunder, dying a slow death under the fog of real love, impressing upon him a certain and rampant oppression undermining the general welfare of blacks in America...all for no reason at all and totally unwarranted, it would seem.

And let's veer another direction, shall we?  It's just popular to hate the flag altogether.  When did that start?   hummm

circa 2008.  What I see is the president (then, merely a senator) being the only one not crossing his heart.  Can we talk about that?

With regard to the popular email chain that depicts the President speaking to the press without a flag anywhere close by, let alone right behind him, as customary (circa 2010)-- Snopes gives cover like so:

"Although it is typical practice that U.S. flags are present as a backdrop whenever the President of the United States speaks to the press or engages in other types of public appearances, such displays are not always present. Due to other factors (e.g., an event's nature, or its being impromptu, its being held at an unusual location) an opportunity to set up U.S. flag backdrops may be missed or skipped, or flags may be present but simply not visible in the camera angles used by photographers, so it's not hard to turn up photographs of the other recent Presidents referenced above addressing the press with no U.S. flags visible anywhere..."

and then proceeds to show some pictures to back them up.

Only problem is, in this scenario -- and any other press conference inside the White House -- there really is no excuse not to have a flag stationed behind the President.  I mean, how hard is that?  Why would the flag ever have to move from behind such a podium?

And then we have, from more recent days, what happened in New York, in the small town of Poughkeepsie -- fire department told to take the flags down, until the public outcry!  How is this even possible in America today?

And here's a fascinating change of allegiance....see infowars on PS75.  OR how about this new Florida law...here.

Something is afoot, America.

And looking high and low, it seems to be the American flag.

If working from the premise that dissing/removing all flags, from all countries guilty of oppression and wrong doing against its people, and perhaps casting a wider net to include all countries fraught with government abuses, deception, corruption against the general welfare -- starting with America --  is not only appropriate, but a mandate for political and cultural retribution  especially on behalf have racial injustices and inequalities -- then what flag in all the world would be left flying?  What flag would be left worthy of any salute?

In light of what is actually happening on the streets in America, where is the logic behind allowing the current strife within desecrate the flag as if it stands for nothing good at all?  Isn't that extreme?

When it gets down to it, isn't Colin capable of having this conversation, while he says he "loves America" and still salute the flag?  Why does he opt to go all in with showing his disgust, his disrespect, rather than his love?   Especially now -- now that's it's done, now that he's made his point, now that the conversations are happening all over the world -- why does he continue to hold out until he sees the change?

And NOW, folks,  we are back to where we began.

The thing is, just how do we get to resolution when we begin with the actual truth, the facts and stats, clearly conflicting with personal bias?

What does the change that Colin so badly wants to see look like, act like, if it's not the outright demand that all Americans behave themselves, no matter the color of their skin or station in life, whether wearing a badge or not?  Behave!

Wouldn't that be the answer?

Forget about the meme contemplating can we all just get along -- how about we all behave ourselves and go about our days simply doing the right thing for the right reasons with the right attitude.

Is that asking too much?

....that all of us in America just follow the fricken law and stay out of trouble from the start....to go to school and get an education...to stay out of gang life....to honor our mother and our father...to honor our children and be good parents...to only use our guns for self-defense, and only at the last resort, and keep our guns under lock and key and away from our babies...
don't drink and drive...don't steal...don't kill...don't lie -- and that goes especially to yourself...

yeah, let's begin by looking at the whole truth --  for the fact remains, the whole duty and responsibility to behave lies upon each and every one of us, to God and to country, every single day.

When we tackle that, we all win.

And then there is this parting thought....
This girl would have to believe that if Colin had trouble at his million dollar home, he would call the police, right?  But would they hurry or take their time now that he wears pigs wearing police hats on his socks?  hummmm


Well well well we have talked and talked today.  And what a conversation, right?

It's About Losing the American Huddle Thing

this morning finds me continuing to toss and turn the Kaepernick story in my head, to the point of giving myself a concussion; the field of dreams for all Americans has grown into more a war of words, shaming and persecuting and blaming, with lines drawn and everything.  it's as if we can't talk to each other...

We've lost the American huddle.

Now given my favorite thing to do here is continue on a thread for the week, the sting of Kaepernick's sit down has led me to an op-ed in the Washington (com)Post, of all places; it's something written by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.  Even though his perspective leaves a few holes, his overall performance and message is articulated with a tone worthy of an honest couple of minutes reading.  Let me just add, for such a big league, larger than life guy, he sure came off soft, gentle in his findings, thoroughly thoughtful and compassionate on this thing we call Free Speech, et.al. and the rights and privileges for all of us to take part.

PLEASE READ. 

My biggest beef with what Colin Kaepernick chose to do was his pick for time and place.

It was not appropriate on that national stage for Colin to personally, metaphorically,  raise his middle finger at the playing of the National Anthem and Color Guard -- no matter what the reason.  Essentially, that is how his actions were perceived; while some cheered along side him secretly, others jeered, and then the entire Colosseum that stands for America came tumbling down, all a-twitter, like one giant pig-pile.

Kareem sums it up by saying this -- "When the government fails in those obligations, it is the responsibility of patriots to speak up and remind them of their duty."

And then I have to ask -- what up with this "when the government fails?" (But more on this in a second...)

Not to mention, his premise (given the title), "Insulting Colin Kaepernick Says More About Our Patriotism Than His" --  just love how Kareem lays the blame and the ball at the foot of the innocents on the sidelines, aghast by what has just happened, as if we should all be ashamed of ourselves for even thinking his sit down called for a dust up.

But let's cut to Kareem's final thought:

"What should horrify Americans is not Kaepernick’s choice to remain seated during the national anthem, but that nearly 50 years after Ali was banned from boxing for his stance and Tommie Smith and John Carlos’s raised fists caused public ostracization and numerous death threats, we still need to call attention to the same racial inequities. Failure to fix this problem is what’s really un-American here."

Yes, indeed, here we are  -- 50 years later -- and just look how the  liberal ideas have failed us in government when it comes to social inequalities...

For the biggest failure within the mindset and ideology of the Left, is the very idea that government is the answer!  Government has never been, and never will be, the answer in making all dreams for all Americans come true.

Read this, from The Patriot Post, (August 17).

In the end, Gallatin says:

"Instead of truly addressing the real problems the Left’s socialist policies have created and exacerbated in the inner city, Demo-gogues turn and blame the problems on those who have the least to do with them. And Clinton is no different as she continues to double down on those old, failed Leftist policies, and calls racist anyone who would dare to challenge and point out their hypocrisy and failure. Sadly, it seems that too many within the black community will continue to accept the victimhood narrative preached by Hillary and other leftist leaders who are all too happy to have pawns at their disposal."

AND for a real shock, as in ice bath, read this!  It's another post by Thomas Gallatin highlighting the Not So Great Society under LBJ.  Talk about ugly.

I hesitate to re-post this, but feel I must, for this explains so much -- 

(Regarding LBJ’s views on co-opting the black vote, here is his remark regarding the Civil Rights Act of 1957 to Senator Richard Russell (D-GA): “These Negroes, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a problem for us since they’ve got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we’ve got to do something about this, we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.” And, how about this remark about the Civil Rights Act of 1964, on why he could not make a discrimination case in a Texas district: “There’s more niggers voting there than white folks.” Recorded Message)

What's really UN-American Kareem IS the crime against the African-American community perpetuated by the ill-intentions to use people as a voting block, merely to hold the power.  What's un-American is denying all children, attending school, to learn about America's foundations, respective of the greater good -- the duties and responsibilities of self-reliance, good self-government, and fully independent of government itself.  To understand the very basic nature of the American system of governance, as it was intended back in the days creating our Declarations for Independence, our Bill of Rights,  and nation's Constitution -- is to understand that our government IS NOT OBLIGATED to give the people anything but freedom and liberty.  

The welfare, the food stamps, the medicare, the Obamacare...even the Social Security -- all of it -- it's all wrong, unnecessary burdens upon the backs of all taxpayers, and all bad... not one bit of these things was written into the Constitution, and that includes things of the general welfare nature to boot!

As it stands now,
"all federal taxes are factored in, the U.S. tax system as a whole is progressive. The top 0.1% of families pay the equivalent of 39.2% and the bottom 20% have negative tax rates (that is, they get more money back from the government in the form of refundable tax credits than they pay in taxes)."  And to link to this page, a graph showing 95% of the Income taxes paid to the IRS are by those hard working Americans making $50,000/year or more.

If the failure to "fix this problem" deemed un-American becomes Kareem's final point in the end, then my question becomes where does Kareem want to start?  This girl really wants to know -- where do we start?

For it's funny, cuz in a manner of speaking -- don't all things, problems in particular, start with looking at ourselves first?  And upon that premise, could not the African-American community begin at this very place?  Government has not solved the problem because, from government's perspective, they (Socialists/Progressives/Liberals to be exact) like things the way they are -- an entire community, from sea to shining sea, depending upon government every single day,  Slavery anyone?

indeed,

it was meant to shock.

Responsibility to make this thing called life -- with a little liberty -- in the pursuit of happiness (and not the guarantee) is to actually take the personal responsibility.  If you give up the personal responsibility, and basically hand it over to the government, where is the upward mobility in that?  

What you get is not only something so totally un-American, but it's something that never changes; you are stuck at whatever level of prosperity and freedom and happiness the government gives to you...pretty much by choice.

This encapsulates one of the biggest lies circling the field today, more detrimental than pain killers and human growth hormones; and it's zigging and zagging, taunting us with quick fixes, masquerading as activism... it's community re-organizing by lifting our nations traditions, values, work ethic, faith, education, and fundamentals up from their roots and redistributing the face and personality and addictions of a fraud, of a brand new America, complete with an unhealthy body of citizens, so totally unrecognizable.  Unrecognizable.

To begin this fix, is to understand it won't be quick.

Trump can't do it overnight, if at all; and Hillary certainly doesn't stand a chance (but of course, she's not planning on it,) 

No, we've lost the American huddle -- in the sense that nothing is working how our nation was intended.  Nothing.  Because the something we, as a nation, must do has nothing to do with government.

"You cannot make one effort towards heaven

forgive me father, for I have dimmed...it's been days since my last politico obsession, one worthy enough to call my own and pontificate until all the stray cats of Rome come home.

happy end of summer, everyone.  school is back in session; and while my nanny gig hours get cut back in half, the benefits outweigh the costs...believe you me and can I get an amen?

of course, given what's been missed, and given we are now deeply seated at the right hand of an election only ten weeks away, what is to come of our time here today, right here, right now?  What is most pressing?  what is most interesting?  what is most disturbing?

Just this morning, add another Anthony Weiner sexting scandal (aka strike three), Huma leaving him (finally), and we got ourselves a humdinger ready for the trash compacter, or at the very least, sufficient fodder for the first fall fire once the evenings resume their annual chill.

Surely until about a minute or two ago, this little old gthing was prepared to bring up the sit down on the football field...oh Colin Colin Colin why have you forsaken the jersey, man?  And to think, this girl adored you so.

Oh sure, Colin is stepping in it because it's just the right thing to do, the thing to stand up for (besides cancer) -- we get it.   But oh, how sad, it's almost as if -- if you didn't know anything about him, anyway -- that Colin's experiences might add up to taking a stand while sitting down all the more understood. But no, not really, said the two white parents who raised him.    And yeah, perhaps I made that last part up -- because they said nothing of the sort, but what does it really matter these days......America -- there is no place on earth where the whole truth and nothing but the entire story is edited from reality like tomorrowland.  Here's a forward pass from one of my favorite places -- The Patriot Post.

I only wonder what Colin has to say to Dwyane Wade right about yesterday, or the day before, as two brothers from the hood shot and killed Dwyane's cousin, Nykea Aldridge while she was walking her three week old baby!!!!

Oh but this is just an everyday thing in ole Chicago.  (I hope you hit that -- you will not be disappointed... well, you will be more than disappointed.  It will sadden you to the middle of the earth and back again)

But here we are -- Kaepernick wants to make the story about white oppression and police brutality, while Wade wants to make it about gun control, #enoughisenough.

Yeah, this girl has had enough too but I have no voice, am I right -- cuz I'm just a dumbass white girl.

get a load of HER first set of commercials.  yes, we're talking HILLARY with a capital H as in Hypocritical Bolshevik Balderdash -- oh, how does it go...

....something like this:

"(voice over) cuz all it takes is JUST ONE WRONG MOVE"  ...suddenly in big, block letters across the screen

are you for real?

Yeah, all it takes is one wrong move -- and just how many has Hillary had already?

If I were the capital T right about now, I would seize the day on this little opening.
Carpe freekin Diem to me. 

 I would line up an entire commercial with HERs, one second saying One Wrong Move, the next lining it up with one of HER lies  wrong moves.  One by one, the sixty seconds would peck off each and every instance of HER making the wrong move -- from Benghazi (which, let's face it, adds up to more than just one, right...considering HER State Department was asked for greater security in the months leading up to the attack and  it was denied...Ambassador Stevens was doing a secret arms deal! without proper security forces! on an anniversary of September 11!  of all times/places/and things, and let's add HER lie to the grieving families -- you know the one -- where she blamed it on a video at the same time as telling the truth of the planned attack to Chelsea and others...)

And we're not even close to running out of ideas... how about that foundation, eh?  If it were involving any other family, they would all be in jail.

And how about that email server?  Not turning over ALL of HER emails, let alone in a timely fashion?  And then proceeding to lie about it over and over and over again.  And what about that cloth?  And now, they decide to hide HER State Department schedule until after the election?  Are you kidding me?   An American Thinker thinks out loud here.

One wrong move, leads to another wrong move, which leads to another wrong move and so on.  And who are we kidding, there isn't enough time in a commercial to say enough, whether it be in big bold caps or fine upper crust print.

Who honestly wants another wrong move from Hillary after this?  Seriously, really, who?

The next thing capital T needs to say to Hillary is 'you should fire that ad agency -- cuz you got screwed.    That was a huuuuge mistake.  huuuge.  and you are stupid.  very very stupid.  i can't believe I ever gave you a dime.'

And while this day turns out to be just about getting my feet wet, angling to get the juices flowing while reveling in the contrary and the extraordinary of this life as we know it, we have only just begun, again.
