It's a Day of Repentance Thing

Dear America,

so let's get right to it.

it must be said that over the last couple of days and blogs, little ole Gthang has hardly been Rated G.

and there is no response to it, other than to say this -- this girl much prefers to stay on the side of poise and grace.  And even though the results are in at Rasmussen, showing Teflon Don to now be in the lead after Sunday's stunning debate performance (and I mean, performance), it is all too soon to tell, as the polling came before a few women have come forward claiming sexual assault against him (Of course, one of these claims seems suspect, as it happened like thirty years ago...Oh sure, now you screw him....why now lady?  why speak up now?  who got to you? but i digress, bigly).

But more than anything else these days -- there is not a day that goes without being in constant prayer.  It's as if God is the only one I truly talk to (sometimes, this girl goes through Jesus -- sometimes the Holy Spirit -- but more often than not, it's right to the Source of all things Good, and that is God). 

It's called travelling with the Trinity to infinity and beyond, right...

When my day began, and I saw the numbers @Rasmussen, my first thought was 'oh thank you, Lord."

The second thought swiftly followed, returning to a recurring thought of the last 24 hours -- and that was the story of Tim Tebow.   (Now, it wasn't the first time this dude laid his hands on someone and quite possibly, saved his life...)  

That being said, let's go to my third thought -- sending a message to Trump; to plead for a meeting between the two T's for a "come to Jesus" moment.   It's like, what could it hurt, right?  (And I did!)

Even though from my position, as an outsider looking in, the truth and fiction of how one man lives is on the one hand none of my business -- on the other hand, Trump is making it my business by asking me and all Americans to trust him with our lives and our fortunes......

.......just as Hillary and Bill Clinton have done time and time again!  

For the Clinton's may appear together as a couple -- but really, they are a political machine;  they have been a pair in the public eye for decades now, and together, have dodged and weaved with the unscrupulous the entire time.  How dare the hypocrisy of the Clinton's still standing continue to flaunt and gloat over the American landscape, rolling in and out of the hills and  valleys like no other.  If anything else, we must applaud the Donald in his very ability to stay the course, steadfast and, more or less, unrepentant....and more important, courageously fighting for America.

It was about a year ago when my prayers realized that so much of what will happen in this election is out of my hands, and in the hands of Something Greater.   But by allowing ourselves to recognize God is in charge, it certainly doesn't relinquish the duty which stands before every American -- which is to do everything humanly possible to affect the change in Washington that we so much desire.

The thing is:  America was never intended to be a nation under one man (or woman) "fixing us" all the live long day; no.

America was designed Under God, a Divine Providence that would shelter us and love us and shape us and expand us and nurture us and make us great in a spirit of grace and humility; wealth and happiness organically and integrally tied to our individual efforts -- and when combined, creating the exceptional nation that is America, and unlike any other in history. (Neither a statement of gloat or of superiority -- merely a statement of truth; because for the first time in world history, a country raised the power of the individual over the governing body.) 

and just look at us, it's an embarrassment.

Ouch.

It stings a little, huh.

This, in part,  is how my little g sees GOD...for it is our own humanity that leads us astray, and it is in these life lessons learned that either makes us great again, or takes us down --  deep into misery with free abandon.

It always comes down to the choices we make as one person, each connected to the whole.

Our founders were the masterminds of certain truths learned through the ages -- truths of Rome, of Greece, of times and civilizations gone by, and they landed on a system of governing that recognized Divinity OVER US and guiding the INDIVIDUAL in the every day, leaving merely a small government to oversee the order of things, and chiefly, to keep guard and hold a watchful eye over the birth and life of our sovereign nation.  Here's to one of their muses, Cicero:

America has been led down a rabbit hole of Nature's making not because Divine Providence predestined America to fail, but simply by and in accordance to perfect Natural Law.  The free will of our humanity made this mess, and God simply saw it coming.  Just as God knows who the next president of the United States is, too.  tee hee

When we return to words of a blog that seems like ages ago now - -  Spring Up, Oh Well! -- it is to call upon the living water on earth and everywhere to act, to say, to do, that which is good, that which is right, in all ways -- large and small.  And if we do that much, America will prevail.

Whatever happens on November 8, 2016, it will surely go down as the culmination of the most raucous of election cycles,  to date.  And it is probably pretty safe to say that no one in America is proud of the optics, whether the perspective comes from heaven above or below or sea level, right or left.

The truth is, we are corrupt.  We have been corrupted in every which way possible, and back again.  And it didn't start in 2015, it didn't start in 2005....it started a long, long time ago.  Let not your heart be troubled, and let not the media mayhem distract you from the truth underfoot -- the choice is clear.  

We are in one sticky wicket and perhaps we all need a come to Jesus moment (and if it's not Jesus, go to the Supreme Being of your choice, or stay in silence -- whatever -- just let the rest of us repent in peace for a moment or two, please and thank you). 

Pray for Trump; pray for America.  And vote.

Old Thomas must be muttering to himself -- if not screaming it across the heavens -- 'for the love of Pete, what the hell is going on down there?'

And Verizon -- look at you -- what, pray tell, does this administration have on you, that you would just bend over and comply?    Like what's this about... "U.S. is secretly collecting records of Verizon calls?"   Guess not so much of a secret now? 

Just getting so creeped out by my own government...ew. ew. ew.

You know, my first intention this morning was to come in here all bright-eyed and shiny tail and talk about the cozy relationships within the administration; and I still might get to some of those.  But honestly --  with this news that fell upon us --  I feel like America has just been broadsided with a two by four by three hundred million,  horridly immobilizing, gut check.  WTF?  Why? Why would they be needing to do this?   And what ever happened to the very idea of having proper cause first?

Gosh:  DNA without probable cause, check.  IRS targeting the content of our prayers, check.   Justice Department secretly obtaining AP phone records, check.   Fox News Journalist, James Rosen -- extending out to his parents -- having his phone records secretly seized by DOJ, check.  IRS telling Pro-Life organization not to protest Planned Parenthood, check. 

And talk about degrees of separation, or shall we say, less separation:  how about that Stephanie Cutter being in meetings with the former IRS Chief, Douglas Shulman, during the time the IRS was specifically targeting conservative groups.  GO HERE...it's just one link, one degree, just one flash of light away from deep background on the subject.

While speaking of Shulman -- while bearing in mind my initial target of attack this morning -- did you know that his wife, Susan Anderson, actively engaged in the Occupy Wall Street movement?   Oh yes she did, yes she did; and she made no secret about it whatsoever, plastering pictures all over her facebook page, see.

[G note: Don't you just love how the Left seems to mess with our heads...More often than naught, leftist couples seem to gravitate to keeping their marriages a secret -- in  a manner of speaking, that is ---  clinging to the maiden name and such, keeping us guessing, wondering, having to sleuth it out on our own to see who's intimately connected to who, inside and out.  Fascinating stuff.  If you play with this frequently, it begins to get easier and quite addictive, kinda like Sudoku-socialist-who's-who for dummies.]  

Here's another one degree matrimonial combination to love and admire:  Samantha Power and Cass Sunstein.   Cass, former Information/Regulatory Czar, is responsible for every nudge and shove we feel these days, especially evident by the expensive, intrusive health care and energy related reforms. As co-author of an excellent explanation of how human behavior works, moves, reacts, and overreacts, from the first degree to the last, secretly sinister can't be understood any better.   Allow me to NUDGE you a wee bit in this direction for more on the book, care of Benjamin Friedman of the NY Times...just because, oh yes, "there is such a thing as common sense — and thank goodness for that."  ew.

Sunstein's dear wife, Samantha, is slated to take over the vacancy of Susan Rice, as the United Nations Ambassador -- that is, if she makes it through confirmation.  [Susan Rice is taking over for Tom Donilan, who is quitting his post as the National Security Director]  

So anywho, here's some shallow background just for starters; it's simply one degree of separation taking you to The Jewish Press. 

[And if you are smitten to go one degree in the same direction for more, Chris Stirewalt, Fox News, writes a splendid piece, here...I just love this part:  "[But] again, why nominate someone to be your closest intelligence adviser who is most famous for putting forward bad intelligence?" ]

Let's take a minute to duly note how the nuptials go round within the administration, courtesy of The Jewish Press:  "Both Donilon and Power are part of the “clubhouse” atmosphere in the Obama administration. Donilon’s wife Cathy Russell was a former chief of staff to Jill Biden and is the State Department’s ambassador at large for global women’s issues." 

[again, note the one degree of separation, in name only, with the dynamic duo of Russell/Donilon...just sayin']

But back to Power, as in Samantha Power -- she was one of Obama's key foreign policy aides while on the campaign trail, fighting against the Hillary machine, when she failed to use common sense to address a few campaign challenges.  Marking Hillary as "a monster" -- her trusted position lived just long enough to regret that.   But in case you want more, head to the Scotsman, here.

So what else, what else has been sneaky, and closely held under the radar, if not, behind the curtain and sometimes even under the sheets? 

Well, there is the Lois Lerner (IRS "whistleblower") and her husband Michael R. Miles -- partner in law firm, Sutherland Asbill & Brennan -- one degree from The Daily Caller tells us, "[T]he 400-attorney firm hosted an organizing meeting at its Atlanta office for people interested in helping with voter registration for the Obama re-election campaign." 

And meandering through that maze, we also find --  "[L]ongtime Sutherland partner David Adelman, the former Democratic minority whip of the Georgia state senate, serves as ambassador to the Republic of Singapore in the Obama administration."   

It's just so cozy in that White House, isn't it?

Of course, corrupt connections like this don't just happen within the boundaries of the big White House; Congress gets into the fun, too.  As if you didn't already know that...

Let's go to one of California's very own, Dianne Feinstein.   She is married to Richard Blume.  [see, sneaky theory works in theory and in real life once again....]    Well, all kinds of crony capitalism deals are going on in this world and they don't even try to hide or deny it anymore...what between bridge contracts, high speed rail deals, special financing, postal office sell-off and leasing, there is not one public sector, between the two of them, that they don't have their slimy, sleazy, blissfully depraved hands.  And look at me -- not even going to waste my time to offer you up some proof.  Come and get me.

And just before I go -- let me throw out one more oldie, but goodie, starry-eyed love connection within:  Anita Dunn and Robert Bauer.   [what?.... doink, der it is, doink, der it is]   "Secret" sources are linking Robert Bauer to the broad brushstroke targeting conservatives, link to Investor's Business Daily for full scoop, here.

When you've got a legal Rottweiler like Bauer setting the cutthroat example to one and all within the Obama administration regarding the wishes of the president, does anyone really think he — or others in the administration — needed marching orders when it comes to the government's attitude toward opponents of Obama's ideology who were seeking tax-exempt status?

exactly.

Piggy-backing a wee bit upon yesterday, the foot soldiers are marching -- from down the altar, through the Rose Garden, and gallivanting on through the halls of the people's house  [some don't even bother to wear clothes anymore].

dovetailing on yesterday's refrain, 'I'M NOT BUYING IT.'

the whole thing, from start to finish, nothing is what it seems.

as today, the west coast awakens to the White House spokesman, Robert Gibbs, already piping up saying,

"[U.S.] deplores and condemns the violence that is taking place in Egypt..."

"We are deeply concerned about attacks on the media and peaceful demonstrators..."

"We repeat our strong call for restraint."

 peaceful demonstrators?  really?  burning cars, looting stores and stealing ancient artifacts?  that is peaceful demonstration?  perhaps a cliff notes lesson from the Tea Party is in dire need...

That, my friends, is Egypt's "youth" propped up and hopped up by a radical uplift from the Muslim Brotherhood...who, figuratively speaking, are not acting on behalf of brotherhood everywhere, freedom for all, in peaceful protest....can you say caliphate?

The guy they want in -- and won't settle for anything less -- is Mohammed El Baradei; they have been working on him, to get in, for years (since documented around 2003).

And hey, posing an international contradiction to what our president made perfectly clear in his evening address last night -- if it's not the role of America to forge our ways, or determine Egypt's leaders, than why did we send an envoy over there in the first place (or was it the second, or the third, conspiracy theorists wanna know)?

Ah yes, but that is just the Chicago way...

First off, let me just say, for me, G, I have serious doubts that all this has just happened in the last week or so.

Remember when he said this...early in his presidency...while on his great apology tour (for America) in the Middle East...

"...we have a very large Christian population -- we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values."

That was just the beginning of his total debunking and rebuking of our American Judeo-Christian heritage.


And just for the record, it is a fact, not fiction -- our Judeo-Christianity is not just some story passed on through generations; our founders took the lessons of the past, universal truths dating back to the time of Christ, of fallen empires large and small, of timeless, ageless principles, to create the kind of government most likely to succeed in America-- bestowing upon this brand new world a system designed distinctively and specific to the values and characteristics and moral conscience solely rested upon the word of God, the teachings of the Gospel, the Psalms from history written by the saints, the aged men of Aristotle and Cicero -- and yes, some of these aged men neither Christian or Jew, who still recognized the Natural Law back behind each and every good thing, seen and unseen. MOREOVER, it was a firm belief weaved into the very fabric of our daily life through and through, as a people; we were grounded in our faith above all else. but let's move on...

So, when Obama was on tour, we, the people, remarked about his unusual display of disdain for America ...over and over and over again; while today, it would seem, we have forgotten all about it.

Remember the speech he gave in Cairo?

It included some real posturing, nation building, if you will... a certain meddling into determining other peoples not our own issues, involving religion and land deals no less...

"...[Gaza] But if we see this conflict only from one side or the other, then we will be blind to the truth: the only resolution is for the aspirations of both sides to be met through two states, where Israelis and Palestinians each live in peace and security...The United States does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements."

so says the king who doesn't want to get involved with other peoples not our own issues.

SO getting back to today, yesterday, last week...and the inherent Chicago way...

You have a sit down; all parties involved gather at the table and have a talking to -- not by phone, across company lines (somebody might be listening, you know) -- and certainly not in writing,  by email,  Facebook or Twitter, as modern that they may be -- no, you have a sit down; face to face; as that's how it's done, the Chicago way.

Oh, and by the way, sit downs are usually meant for a one sided conversation (details, shmeetails); somebody has to sit down and listen.  It is a conversation off the record and behind closed doors, and only those in the room know anything about it...meddle meddle toil and trouble...

not one to get in the middle of other nations problems...when has America been about that? -- the immediate years following our birth excluded.

Now would be a good time for "a new beginning" -- and title of the president's speech to Cairo two years ago.

Meddling seems to be one of our biggest issues -- whether it was for the common good, or not...the reality of butting out seems to elude us every time.

SO who's to say our meddling with Mubarek didn't begin, say, two years ago?


While the overnight mayhem -- immediately following Mubarek's arm twisting to step down sit down -- doesn't appear to be the actions of brotherhood and decency, and quite the contrary.

But the White House isn't upset with the 'youth on the streets', no, not one bit; the White House, it would seem, has hand picked the agitators, admonishing those preserving what is left of Egypt's democracy, and has targeted the purveyors of vicious attacks as anyone against "the media and peaceful protesters."

but we're not saying a word...we don't want to get involved, you know.

Obama spoon fed us -- and anyone else who was listening -- great rhetoric last night;  and don't get me wrong, he did say all the right things...it was yummy:

"...we oppose violence and commend the military...

we believe in the universal values --

freedom of assembly...speech...access to information...

we have spoken...

the need for change...

status quo is not sustainable...

must be at the will of the people...

transformation...

this is one of those times...

only Egyptian people can do that...

meaningful...

peaceful...

begin now...

lead to election...

free and fair...

grounded...in...democratic principles...

continue to extend the hand of friendship...

to the young people I hear your voices..."

again...he said all the right things;

but what was said at the sit down?

what was said at the sit down behind closed doors two years ago?

where was all this interest in the Egyptian people two week's ago?  you know, before the Muslim Brotherhood devised a method to get the word out -- taking advantage of Facebook and Twitter -- dishing out the fodder for the perfect storm, naturally and 'organically' offering the makings for a massive revolt against Mubarek, feeding the hearts and minds of the oppressed with propaganda to simply not buy into it anymore?

Two years ago, Obama spoke to the city of Cairo saying,

"America does not presume to know what is best for everyone, just as we would not presume to pick the outcome of a peaceful election. But I do have an unyielding belief that all people yearn for certain things: the ability to speak your mind and have a say in how you are governed; confidence in the rule of law and the equal administration of justice; government that is transparent and doesn't steal from the people; the freedom to live as you choose. Those are not just American ideas, they are human rights, and that is why we will support them everywhere."

punch line for the day, "government that is transparent and doesn't steal from the people" oh but I digress...

Here's the whole speech -- more amusing now than it was two years ago -- and yet, freaky all at the same time (you know, knowing what we know now).

It's cool to rage a revolution with a heart -- unless you just so happen to be John Q. American Public, and mainly, but not entirely, white middle class?  Is that it, Mr. President?  Is that when you simply say, I'm not buying it, when it looks too much like white bread, and not enough brown, black, Egyptian, downtrodden or oppressed by societal norms?  I am trying awfully hard not to assume here, so feel free to reply.

Here's someone mainstream media will never introduce to you...talk about breaking all assumptions...check out this blogger, Lloyd Marcus.and that's all will say about that.

Now, I believe much of the unrest in Egypt is genuine -- I do wholeheartedly support a regime change, as thirty years under Mubarek, coupled with the strong arm of the military, is decades too long (heck, why do you think he, himself, is finally ponying up with the dangle of term limits -- hilarious stuff) and then again,

much of it is mass produced, orchestrated, manipulated, and not without much of it coming from the good ole US of A...and that doesn't make this girl very happy.  Mr. President, you say you don't want to tell other nations what to do, but then you send an envoy?  You have a sit down?  You organize around the ideas creating the environment to make change, like beginning "now"  -- not much room for negotiation when you put it like that.

Propaganda will always be nothing more than propaganda; but the truth, if we ever get down to the bottom of it -- or, if we could only somehow surrender to it -- now THAT, has a way of naturally and organically creating the conditions to set us free -- truly free; if only we could find a way to live and let live by the truth, freely, and fairly, like the way nature, and Nature's God, intended -- the way our founders grew to recognize and honor  -- the way our limited powers within a framework of limited government was  originally designed -- wow, what a wonderful world that would be.

The framers never wanted us to meddle into other peoples not our own issues; we broke our own rule; and a mere five second pause on recent history would tell us something has been not quite right for quite some time.

We, the people, just haven't paid much attention to it..until now (you know, with the information age, and all).

The thing is -- and finally making my real point of the day -- we have no idea how many sit downs behind closed doors have compromised our first values, squandering our resources and investments to no end.  We have no idea how many agreements have been made with dictators far and wide; while all the while, the elites of this world have done a peaceful takeover of our entire American foundation -- speaking of the growing number of private, sit down meetings, occurring in places of opportunity, like the Davos meetings, or by personal invitation only, looking more like peaceful assembly of the chosen ones, like the Bilderberg Group, boldly incorporating clandestine arrangements of people, entire nations, and thinking nothing of it --

-- while we, the people, have no idea just how much or how far or how long it's been going on.

Definition of oppressed seems so arbitrary when you put it like that, no?

This is exactly what the framers wanted to avoid -- a people's growing apathy and disconnect to the truth AND more important, living by that truth in every way; and you know times are bad, when even our corruption is being corrupted.

Mubarek's fall started some time ago, hard to be sure when; it was just made to look like an overnight sensation.

But call me funny,  I don't trust anyone who arranges sit downs with dictators, especially under the dark of night hand carrying a full set of peaceful hidden agendas, paving the way for just another leader without a democratic bone in his body to take over, who is uncomfortably connected and fanatically endorsed by a radical Islamic extremist group, a.k.a Muslim Brotherhood, an organization currently banned from freely operating within the Egyptian city limits...yup, call me funny.  even a conspiracy theorist if you must...ask me if I care...go ahead...ask me...

Dear America,

One of the books checked out of the NY library currently staking claim to an apparent oversight of the first President of the United States, and hefty fine if in fact they were seeking such, is titled the "Law of Nations" by Emmerich de Vattel, 1758.

Take a gander through the pages of this remarkable collection of political thought and ideology, and be amazed at the brilliance of understanding human nature, natural law, and the rule of man all wrapped up into one juicy specimen for the encouragement and proliferation of all mankind via good government.

I stumbled upon a literary monument to de Vattel, giving literary license to read the complete set, easily allowing access to whatever topic seeks your fancy -- suffice it to say, it is well worth your time.

I wasn't sure what to view first, but something caught my eye about half way down the first page:

I read the opinion recently that the underlying belief amongst most Americans is a sense of being "unsure" about our government today.  But my sense is that we are quite the contrary --  we are more like quite sure.

We know at the very core of our being, at our most sincerest point of conviction, the bigger the government the harder we fall. We are quite sure that we cannot trust the government, as we are unsure of it's proclivities and intentions to drain the common people of all their wealth and worth.

But the thing is, how soothing to know that the thoughts of de Vattel and the acts of good government, espoused by a myriad of apostles of natural law and passed down through the ages, were at one time in the hands of good old George!

And the second thing of course, is how freaky true!

Lost is our sense of living a virtuous  life, and by good example we need to look no further than our own television, our window to the world and for all the world to see.

Without the George's of the world watching carefully over us, and doing right by their own personal pledge to serve and create good government, we can find solace in realizing that perhaps the value of this nation's second greatest generation is happening right now; that America's future rests firmly and completely in our hands, right here and right now.

And surely as many of us believe Divine Providence lights our way forward, some might say in as little as just a few steps ahead of us, rest assured the life and times of today's challenges in restoring good government to it's rightful place is already done in the eyes of God.  All we must do is take back the helm, resume course, and sail into calmer seas by virtue of the return to good character and a virtuous people.

It must be a conscious decision -- while surely a deliberate act such as this is not for the faint of heart; unfortunately, what it asks of us is an undeniable faith to forgo the "luxuries, effeminaces, a rage of licentious pleasures" for a time, in order to restore what really matters in our pursuit of happiness -- and that surely being the very foundation of our nation's freedom and liberty by living the principles set forth at our birth.

A good government that would naturally recognize the importance of keeping it's people at liberty to have and be and do what it wishes, relies actually on a government willing to step out of the way, to relinquish it's power, and extinguish it's own natural tendencies towards greed and corruption; in other words, the nation relies on this good government to set the example for it's people above all else, or else.

Most of us are quite sure that this government of ours is no longer good.

Most of us are quite sure of the discipline it will require of us, of the citizenry to correct it's course -- yet in this moment, unsure, if in fact, we have what it takes as a whole.

If this is any sign as to what lies ahead in wait, how about that family who is allowing their two children to be unschooled recently seen on ABC News -- just one example of degenerate parents creating degenerate children, advocating the next generation of dysfunction and entitlement on the horizon...

we no longer need to go to school, or even be home schooled -- but actually NO schooled!  The kids sit around and eat donuts (for their diet is a freedom of choice), watch TV (for what they put in is solely up to them) and otherwise attend to nothing unless they want to -- no chores, no field trips of higher learning, no books required or responsibilities of any kind.

We can only hope, that one day, these kids wake up and get an urge to go to the library -- perhaps check out a book entitled "Law of Nations" and actually sit down with the television off and read it -- the entire collection if possible (if they can sit still long enough) -- matter of fact, as long as they give us their word to read it of course, they could even pull a George and keep it!  Keep it in good faith, as the state's gift to you in order to combat future juvenile delinquency; just one way a bad government could keep on giving that may eventually do some good...

Or better yet, how about we take out every history book and social studies course, and immediately redirect the curriculum to one book -- the  "Law of Nations"; it may take twelve years of study, but by my projections (with the CBO yet to report), if we start out sometime around kindergarten, we just might have half a chance to teach something good and meaningful and timeless to our kids (the next leaders of our free world, if we survive that long).

In the after- thought, equally interesting is the reporting about George's long overdue book...the focal point on the astronomical late fees captured much of the interest, as much of the media seemed to find the story, the human interest, simply in that.

Happy Friday!

Did you know that people are ten percent happier on Friday than on Monday? 

That is a no-brain-er now, isn't it?

Didn't take a study taking $71,623 hard-earned tax payer stimulus dollars to figure that one out -- you know, like the one researching the affects of cocaine on monkeys currently going on in the state of North Carolina.

Nope; we just know that most of us are pretty much happier at the end of the work week and not at the beginning; we are happier at five o'clock Friday afternoon than on Sunday night at bedtime.

It was Johnny (Chapman) Appleseed Day yesterday; and to that end, we could probably credit Johnny for the homegrown American philosophy, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away."

Nowadays, it is a well researched fact illuminating the wealth of attributes wholesomely embedded in the apple; the article linked above counts out nine of them within the confines of a brand new site I found today, simply called "Succeed with This".  Very easily, a slip into a place like this could turn into an afternoon browsing it's offerings of good tidings, life lessons and suggestions; and like Adam and Eve, just blame it on my attraction to the little lowly fruit, luring me in with it's shiny red skin and juicy goodness, to start things off for me this morning -- perhaps persuading you to go there now, or later.

Ahh but Johnny Appleseed could very well be one of our nation's first conservationist, as the legend goes he walked the parts of Ohio and Indiana and Illinois sowing apple seeds and promoting land preservation wherever he went.

 And just maybe he was one of our first capitalists, too -- exemplifying a free enterprise approach, building a market of franchisees along the way, making deals with land owners for next to nothing --  anyone with a little plot of earth to turn could get a piece of the action; at the end of the day, or even a week, it didn't matter to ole Johnny if he ever saw a dime, all he really needed was a warm meal and a sleep on the floor before moving on to the next town.

Whether Friday or Monday, or midday Tuesday -- it would appear that Johnny was content with his lot in life and made a career growing seeds of charity, love, and wholesome goodness.

After all these years of folklore and song, I never knew the missionary man inside the legend. According to personal accounts, he walked the Midwest (and normally barefoot), having never settled down with a wife and family. He made it part of his travels to tell stories and propagate the word of the gospel,  connecting his love of nature and conservationism with the Kingdom of God through the teachings of Swedenborgianism (I never heard of it before today either. Unless of course, you are smarter than me and have -- which may very well be the case -- what do I really know).

Anyway, Swedenborgianism, an organized religion from back in the day and familiar by many names, the name pertinent to the discussion is it's creator's, a man by the name of Emanuel Swedenborg -- a Swedish scientist and theologian who lived from 1688-1772. 

Now Johnny, born September 26, 1774, as a boy he was taught to have great respect for the earth and all of nature, he gravitated easily to the teachings of Swedenborgian and the thinking "we see love and wisdom of the Lord manifested -- if one is learning truth or doing good it is from Him -- whether consciously aware of it, or not, that God is the source."  While Johnny sang the song, "The Lord is Good to Me" everywhere he went, children would naturally flock to him, making it a custom to finish the day sharing words of wisdom with the wee ones at his feet soaking up every word, the little offshoots that they are.

But basically, Johnny was a wanderer and a drifter, leaving only a small orchard to his sister when he died, and yet remarkably, the legend of his life and times seems to have left quite a mark on the American landscape.  He was a man who truly walked his talk.  (As a side note, I sure hope he remains an admirable lesson to uphold in the classroom, warranting at the very least a half a page of American history in return... Lord knows, given what's going on right now in the state of Texas and the controversial textbook review.)

Now, the converse of little Johnny Appleseed can be discovered through the fine research of an outlet called Pajamas Media. They uncover:

"Without any oversight, accounting, or transparency, environmental activist groups have surreptitiously received at least $37 million from the federal government for questionable “attorney fees.” The lawsuits they received compensation for had nothing to do with environmental protection or improvement.

The activist groups have generated huge revenue streams via the obscure Equal Access to Justice Act. Congressional sources claim the groups are billing for “cookie cutter” lawsuits — they file the same petitions to multiple agencies on procedural grounds, and under the Act, they file for attorney fees even if they do not win the case...

Nine national environmental activist groups alone have filed more than 3,300 suits, every single one seeking attorney fees. The groups have also charged as much as $650 per hour (a federal statutory cap usually limits attorney fees to $125 per hour).

...Most cases were simply based upon an alleged failure to comply with a deadline or to follow a procedure...

“This is just the tip of the iceberg,” says Budd-Falen. “We believe when the curtain is raised we’ll be talking about radical environmental groups bilking the taxpayer for hundreds of millions of dollars, all allegedly for ‘reimbursement for attorney fees.’ And what is even more maddening is that these groups are claiming that they are protecting the environment with all this litigation when not one dime of this money goes to projects that impact anything on-the-ground related to the environment. It just goes to more litigation to get more attorney fees to file more litigation..."
 

The health and welfare of our nation is under attack, and as long as the "apple a day" philosophy, and all of it's character and message back behind the simple phrase continues to be ignored or frowned upon, we will never correct what truly ails us.  Even the current health care legislation, the one that is "supposed to be good for us" never stands a chance to bring us the good -- given the political, legal and corrupted nature of "this land is your land, but not really", combining this dubious environment with the fall of man.
 
It is things like this, the imbalance of power with the destructive activities of attorneys, the unscrupulous actions under the guise of environmental and conservation causes (point of ref. Cap & Trade and Global Warming), along with the rampant use of "the public good" without consent or approval in order to commit fraud against an otherwise proud and stand up nation from right under our noses -- things like this will ultimately be our downfall, like the bite of the proverbial apple.
 
Did you know that even the scent of an apple is believed to be enough to "wash away all negative thoughts while also prompting or promoting loving thoughts towards others" ?  That little tidbit was found in my daily visit from astrology.com, giving me the word of the day according to some aspect of Feng Shui (and you can get it, too, by just going to http://www.yahoo.com/ , they can take you from there).

Hence, the medicinal value of smelling mom's apple pie wafting through the house...

Johnny had it all going on -- he promoted the cultivation and preservation of our land, he fed the children with words of character building and loving grace, he walked the earth sowing seeds of peace and understanding, he left America a better place than which she was found.

A pioneer, a drifter and a wanderer, clearly he lived a life so well grounded, his legend speaks for itself.

This is the kind of country from which he came -- and this is the kind of country we need to propagate and nurture -- planting the seeds for a nation's true success; only by restoring our roots and drenching the earth with happy thoughts and good character will we grow an orchard of this caliber, ample enough to sustain a people for generations to come.

Certainly, an apple a day -- if only in good conscience -- is a good place to start.
