It's for the Love of Country Thing

It's Sunday in America...and we are anxiously awaiting the next 48 hours.

If I only had one sentence to sum things up, it would be this: America is about to choose between liberty and tyranny.

And just the idea of it, the magnitude, gives me a headache.  

no really, and it's a real humdinger, too....

San Diego is sitting under a high pressure system, it's warm and dry and on the verge of another Santa Ana  --- so initially, it is easy to blame my condition more upon the weather.   But after speaking with my mama -- when the two of us quickly factored in the realities of the high pressure conditions of the election --  we've arrived at the assumption the entire country is probably popping the Tylenol, the Advil, the Bayer, the Aleve at this point...whatever fits your fancy.  And isn't it just marvelous how we have so many over-the-counter drugs of choice...remember when we just had aspirin?  Personally, my vice is just loads of caffeine, straight up...and if I could take it intravenously, I would.

So on both counts, allow me to turn our attention to something that perfectly suits the moment.  From Mark Levin's, Liberty and Tyranny By Levin, Mark R. (Google Affiliate Ad) --  he asserts a few "anthropological realities" of man:

"In nature, man's progenitors were almost never the fastest, strongest, most agile, deadliest, or toughest creatures in any situation.  Moreover, man had little in the way of innate protections against climate extremes and naturally occurring threats to his existence.  What differentiated man from the rest of the animal kingdom as, in part, his ability to adapt his behavior to overcome weaknesses and better master his circumstances."

Of course, Levin continues here, directing the sound argument in favor of personal property -- recognizing the acquisition, possession, and profiteering through what is considered 'property' is "endemic to human nature and survival," and generally speaking, this one thing tremendously improves the quality of life.

In addition, as human beings, we are given the necessary intelligence to learn from our past, recognize our mistakes, fix the errors of our ways, and thereby use this natural intelligence to strengthen our communities, pop a pill to relieve ourselves of a nasty migraine...and every four years, we get to change our minds and ultimately effect the direction of the entire nation.   It all boils down to an "anthropological reality" -- man's "ability to adapt" to "overcome weaknesses" and "better master his circumstances."

Levin intelligently, and methodically, concentrates on the differences between "originalists" -- those of us fully supportive of the Constitution, and the "statists" -- those who fully support it's destruction.  And if you allow me to linger on this for just a moment longer, let me share one more thing from L and T:

"[the statist, Cass Sunstein's "realism" ]...He creates the false choice between anarchy (where there are no laws protecting the individual, private property, and contracts) and tyranny (where the sovereign alone arbitrarily grants fundamental rights, including property rights).  Having declared the sovereign paramount to God and nature, and having delinked liberty from the property, the individual must rely on the government for his sustenance.  Of course, history shows that man will starve and freeze if he relies on the government for his sustenance -- and surrender his liberty as well."

Here's something more on that --

Socialism, Marxism, Statism... the Redistribution of Wealth -- property, liberty, independence.... is not what we do, Mr. President.   And history proves, it does not work.  America -- and everything she stands for -- simply cannot survive in liberty with a boot to the neck on self-reliance, personal responsibility and duty, invention, innovation, property acquisition, income, expansion and abundance of every kind. 



Words from a locker room earlier today:

"I mentioned before the game that you guys were living in vision, and you weren't living in circumstances," Pagano said.

"Because you know where they had us in the beginning -- every last one of them. But you refused to live in circumstances, and you decided consciously, as a team and as a family, to live in a vision. And that's why you bring things home like you brought things home today. That's why you're already champions, and well on your way.

"I've got circumstances -- you guys understand it, and I understand it. It's already beat. And my vision that I'm living is to see two more daughters get married, dance at their weddings, and then hoist that Lombardi [Trophy] several times.

How's that for a little inspiration?  It's via Coach Chuck Pagano, of the Indianopolis Colts --  who happens to be living with Leukemia, with every intention on decimating it, and going on to dance at two more weddings.

The differences between the two candidates are many; how anyone is still "undecided" is beyond me.

But coincidently [and unintentionally highlighting how the silly ramblings of my migraine mind works] Pagano quite possibly best describes the mindset of the two realities before us:

•  one candidate is stuck on circumstances...what got us there, who got us there, and how buried we are, as a whole, by them -- and to that end, just how much more THIS government needs, wants, four more years to fix it; 
• while the other, stands with firm reliance on our founder's vision for America, and celebrates the greater good and the wealth of vision inside each and every one of us to work together to decimate debt, eliminate regulations that bind, cut through bureaucracy and get to the other side -- a place where wealth, property, abundance, security, peace, happiness lives -- a place where hard work and business and duty and risk taking is cherished, if not totally, unapologetically rewarded.

It's called living in the vision, not our circumstances.

It's called bucking up and doing our part -- sharing in the responsibility and duty to care for America as a team.

It's called self-reliance, individually and collectively, with all of us wearing the same colors.

The mantra from Obama continues to champion the same old line, "everybody needs to play by the same rules."   

Indeed, Mr. President, indeed.
For that is the precise framework of our founders; 'playing by the same rules' was the lens through which our future was made in the day to day, by all walks of life, equally walking in the vision in the pursuit of happiness and the American Dream.  This kind of vision was seen clear around to the other side of the world, it was so strong -- and likewise, it attracted the whole world to our shores.

It's the difference between INDEPENDENCE and dependency.  

It's the difference between liberty and tyranny.

This is a vote for the LOVE of Country, folks.  It's just that big.  [Or  -- ew -- is your vote the best revenge?]

And fancy that and imagine my surprise,  my headache is gone.  and kudos to the cathartic process of writing all  our fears and insecurities down on blog.

Oh, and just before parting ways for the day.... and just cuz I would hate to lead you on....this post is going in the "likely" column -- meaning, it's projected to be my last entry until the day after the election.  Having said that, some inside polling begs to differ, and makes it appear more like a "toss up"  -- but it's really hard to tell.  It's just that close...

It's Lady Liberation vs. Lady Liberty Thing

this clip dates back just a couple of days, to the president's first news conference of the year.

before that, on March 2 -- the president made a direct call to Sandra Fluke.  It came immediately after Rush Limbaugh's twisted right wing response to Sandra's testimony before congress, reinforcing the administration's stance to pay for contraceptives  (and essentially, subsidizing a personal activity -- a woman's sex life of all things -- and mandating that the American people pay for women to have protected sex).  Rush was not gentle or kind -- but the argument is basically spot on whether you want to look at it that way, or not.

"He encouraged me 

and supported me 

and thanked me 

for speaking out about 

the concerns of American women.  

And what was really personal 

for me 

was that he said to tell my parents 

that they should be proud. 

And that meant a lot 

because Rush Limbaugh questioned whether 

or not my family would be proud of me."

but let's get back to the press room:

"One of the things I want them to do [Sasha and Malia] as they get older is engage in issues they care about, even ones I may not agree with them on [cough, choke]. I want them to be able to speak their mind in a civil and thoughtful way. And I don't want them attacked or called horrible names because they're being good citizens," 

"I wanted Sandra to know that I thought her parents should be proud of her, and that we want to send a message to all our young people that being part of a democracy involves argument and disagreements and debate. And we want you to be engaged, and there's a way to do it in a way that doesn't involve you being demeaned and insulted."  President Obama @ press conference

He says, "even ones I may not agree with them on."

As if. Right. That's a good one, Mr. President.

Just what is this Mastermind-in-Chief saying here?  He is insinuating, under no uncertain terms, that he is consciously choosing to walk that political thin line of 'does he, or doesn't he?' 

Let's be clear.

He called Sandra Fluke because he is proud of her for speaking with conviction on a women's health issue, for being a good citizen, for taking the risk to stand up --  BECAUSE HE AGREES with her!  He is proud of HER for supporting HIS legislation.

It also means that this president is proud of her for fully supporting the USURPING of the Constitution, undermining this nation's first amendment, and be it ever so graciously and politely -- yet oh so radically -- uprooting the law of the land.

The president is being perfectly clear:  he IS proud of Sandra Fluke in every way, or else he would not pick up the phone to call her; nor would he double down on his remarks of how much her parents should be proud of her; nor would he make no mistake to tell his girls, Sasha and Malia -- and the entire press room -- and the whole world for that matter --  that he is proud of THIS girl, Sandra.  He sees Sandra speaking his language; she is saying and demonstrating the right stance to take all the way around.

[cuz like, did he, the president,  'stand up' to support Bristol Palin, when she was speaking with conviction of her pregnancy and her pro-life values ...and after doing so... becoming the target of viscous attacks from the Left????...ignore this, it's a rhetorical question]

Bristol's convictions do not serve the president's agenda.

The truth is, mathematically speaking -- half of the American women are proud of Sandra, too -- while the other half, not so much.

Is this really how all women choose to move forward?

I think not.

Isn't this sort of thing taking women a couple steps backwards?  Think about it.

Needing a brand-spankin-new entitlement program to cover birth control that costs less than a dollar a day?

Needing somebody else to pay for our prescriptions -- as if we have no means, no wherewithal at all, to figure it out and prioritize our medicinal and personal necessities of choice?

Casting the burden out to society to subsidize something that is very much our own responsibility?

If this is what [some] women are saying -- they might as well marry it -- the government -- and call it a day.

[Which is ironic, isn't it --- given how much the Left loathes traditional marriage...]

Sandra is going to graduate with a LAW DEGREE, for goodness sakes.  She is about to be entering a field of work that offers plenty of cash by the hour (and it has nothing to do with prostitution, but I guess it could be misconstrued as such.... but I quickly digress into the gutter, let's moveon.org....).  She is on the verge of making hundreds of dollars an hour and SHE wants an entitlement program offering free contraceptives to protect her -- and every other woman in America -- believing she has a right to have her sexual life subsidized on the backs of the taxpayers?  of all people.... seriously?

unfukeenbelievable.

yeah, let's hear it for women's liberation.
 -- are we?  
yeah. we've come a long way, baby.
-- have we?

today -- we are long past the burning of our bras and now look at us.

How pathetic.

But the president is proud of Sandra.

And he doesn't care if his Obamacare -- the Affordable Care Act -- rapes the Constitution; he doesn't care if it tramples all over the first amendment.  He doesn't care how it leaves us feeling, inside and out.  He doesn't care.

He is all about fundamentally transforming this country, beginning with everything that upholds our cultural roots of God, country, tradition, family, living in communion with one another and humbly under the Rule of Law.

and then we have the little Mrs. say this:



wow, right.

no.  these two videos are nothing new.  we have played them before.

it's just that,
as time goes by,
the more and more they haunt us,
as we find ourselves always looking over our shoulder.

Ah fair the well oh Laissez- Faire -- we are not worthy to receive you.

In the president's own budget, he is projecting a 1.1 trillion dollar deficit going into next year, knowing he has been running over a trillion dollar deficits for each year in office ($1.6T for 2011, adding to the $3.5T accumulated already) -- oh as he charms us with the notion of holding to "2010" spending and calling it a "freeze", and that would apply to discretionary funds only; and lest we forget, adding into the equation his brand new, unfunded, entitlement program under the Affordable Care Act which will add another trillion dollars to our bottom line (insuring 30 million people for nothing will do that); and all the while, not tending to the entitlement programs already under water  -- and -- ignoring the national debt of 14 trillion and climbing exponentially at every tick of the clock...

and the clock is ticking.

Good day to provoke revolutions around the globe indeed.

But let's look at the numbers one more time -- according to the president's own brilliance, we are setting a trajectory of doubling our national debt to a whopping 28 trillion dollars before the end of 2020; and in the words of many, at least those within the GOP collective, it would be better doing nothing, than bring this little piggy to market.

And if real life couldn't be any more startling, let's take in a few keen observations of the man we have as our president, the Statist that he is --  you know, considering all the things we know to be true, taking into account where we have been and where we are right now, adding to it "the revolutions and reform" in the Middle East, and basically, after just watching this man roll for awhile  --  for the blueprint of the last couple of years, giving way for a quick explanation of America's demise, perhaps may be found in a single speech.

Invoking the revelations of Mark Levin, from his book, Liberty and Tyranny, published in 2009 -- he is nearing the end of his "Conservative Manifesto" when he quotes parts of a speech, from 2007, given to the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, by the Senator Barack Obama.

"We have heard much over the last six years about how America’s larger purpose in the world is to promote the spread of freedom – that it is the yearning of all who live in the shadow of tyranny and despair.

I agree. But this yearning is not satisfied by simply deposing a dictator and setting up a ballot box.[fascinating, isn't it]. The true desire of all mankind is not only to live free lives, but lives marked by dignity and opportunity; by security and simple justice.

Delivering on these universal aspirations requires basic sustenance like food and clean water; medicine and shelter. It also requires a society that is supported by the pillars of a sustainable democracy – a strong legislature, an independent judiciary, the rule of law, a vibrant civil society, a free press, and an honest police force. It requires building the capacity of the world’s weakest states and providing them what they need to reduce poverty, build healthy and educated communities, develop markets, and generate wealth. And it requires states that have the capacity to fight terrorism, halt the proliferation of deadly weapons, and build the health care infrastructure needed to prevent and treat such deadly diseases as HIV/AIDS and malaria.

As President, I will double our annual investments in meeting these challenges to $50 billion by 2012 and ensure that those new resources are directed towards these strategic goals."

In a series of pointed questions following his hand picked excerpts, Levin basically returns to a combination of how's and why now's; begging almost, for him, the man, the president-to-be, to jump in and answer the age old notion of what makes you think you will be any different?  How in the world will you accomplish this feat, you loon?  How do you justify which countries deserve America's love and attention, and which one's do not? And when, just when do you call in the troops, write a check, or send material aid?  When do you impose sanctions, when do you cut everything off, just when is diplomacy no longer working for you?  And just how do you operate around crazy -- eloquently and compassionately and decisively and brilliantly -- how do you do that, in the real world, and keep America safe and her sovereignty intact?

Of course, Levin's questions were posed differently, but you get my drift.

The entire speech is long and twisted, but fortunately for us, remains as just one of the many declarations on the record, as to just what Obama was thinking, and more important, laying out the blueprint ahead, skillfully setting forth what he would do if given the chance to be President...so easy pontificating from the outside looking in, isn't it, Mr. President?

"In today’s globalized world, the security of the American people is inextricably linked to the security of all people. When narco-trafficking and corruption threaten democracy in Latin America, it’s America’s problem too. When poor villagers in Indonesia have no choice but to send chickens to market infected with avian flu, it cannot be seen as a distant concern. When religious schools in Pakistan teach hatred to young children, our children are threatened as well.

Whether it’s global terrorism or pandemic disease, dramatic climate change or the proliferation of weapons of mass annihilation, the threats we face at the dawn of the 21st century can no longer be contained by borders and boundaries...


I know that many Americans are skeptical about the value of foreign aid today. But as the U.S. military made clear in Camp Lemonier, a relatively small investment in these fragile states up front can be one of the most effective ways to prevent the terror and strife that is far more costly – both in lives and treasure – down the road. In this way, $50 billion a year in foreign aid – which is less than one-half of one percent of our GDP – doesn’t sound as costly when you consider that last year, the Pentagon spent nearly double that amount in Iraq alone.

Finally, while America can help others build more secure societies, we must never forget that only the citizens of these nations can sustain them. The corruption I heard about while visiting parts of Africa has been around for decades, but the hunger to eliminate such corruption is a growing and powerful force among people there. And so in these places where fear and want still thrive, we must couple our aid with an insistent call for reform. [wow, we should have seen it coming]

We must do so not in the spirit of a patron, but the spirit of a partner – a partner that is mindful of its own imperfections. Extending an outstretched hand to these states must ultimately be more than just a matter of expedience or even charity. It must be about recognizing the inherent equality and worth of all people. And it’s about showing the world that America stands for something – that we can still lead...

 It’s time we had a President who can do this again – who can speak directly to the world, and send a message to all those men and women beyond our shores who long for lives of dignity and security that says 'You matter to us. Your future is our future. And our moment is now...'

 Levin is quick, and with every good reason, to say that:

"In truth, the Statist is and will be no more successful in his foreign policy promises than in his domestic promises.  International utopianism has no better chance than its domestic brand.

But for all his talk of America changing the world, the Statist speaks not of American sovereignty but 'global citizenship.'  He speaks not of America as a nation-state but as a one nation among many.  Rather than maintain its superpower status and act in its own best interests, the United States should relinquish its hard-earned position in favor of multilateral power sharing and conduct foreign policy -- including decisions about military action in its own defense -- through coalitions and international organizations.  In this way, America's interests are subsumed and contained by the supposed interests of the whole."

so where are we at?  as a country, as Americans?

"So distant is America today from its founding principles that it is difficult to precisely describe the nature of American government...[with] the Constitution being altered by judicial oligarchy that mostly enforces, if not expands, the Statist agenda...[with] a maze of administrative departments... [with] the states that gave the central government life now live at its behest.  What, then, is it?   It is a society steadily transitioning toward statism.  If the Conservative does not come to grips with the significance of this transformation, he will be devoured by it."

Thank you, Mark Levin, ever consider running for president?

May I also refer you, my handful of G readers, to The Daily Bell this morning, giving a rather ample dose of reason mixed with lively doubt.....there are two articles worth your while, this and that.

The world is not as it would seem -- and funny, for it seems to be growing wildly out of control much at the same rate as our annual deficits and accumulated debt.  Wonder if there is any connection?

that's a rhetorical question -- as we ponder the new world order according to the president of   'to every thing there is a reason and with every reason there is a thing' -- a means to an end becomes a cornerstone; from the one who truly believes "the security of the American people is inextricably linked to the security of all people" and "my individual salvation depends on our collective salvation..."; Obama-isms abound and flourish aligned with a statist's dream.


Legitimate American commerce flowing freely within and beyond our borders, the growing of American prosperity and ingenuity, humbly leading the way by example, beholden to the blessings of our Judeo-Christian roots, setting in motion the American way of life admired by all the world -- it was never intended to be this complicated;

and clearly, after only a couple of years, our true American ideals, deeply rooted in every bit as much our duty as it is in conversation, remains to be truly recognized, understood, and elevated by society, let alone our president, today; too often reduced to more a foreign concept, obsolete and run it's course, groping for translation and assimilation into a new global governance paradigm, by the man, now president, with the gilded tongue.

and with that, what a brilliant way to leave it today if I do say so myself.

and if anyone wonders what number I would hit for this year's budget cuts: 370 Billion...and continue at this pace each year until we were back in black; and yes, aligning the cuts to all areas of the budget, even entitlements, the bureaucracy that has a choke-hold on our inherent pursuit of happiness; and yes, including defense, our global force for good can be fine tuned and operated more on the home front; and yes, taking apart layers and layers of government interference; and yes, making the hard decision to change Social Security benefits, effective immediately, using means testing and changing retirement age, as IT, along with Medicare, was never intended to support seniors in Florida with 25 years of free golf and a doctor...don't hate, just the first thing that popped in my head...but this is not what it was made for, and goes back to a time when we didn't live much  beyond 70 -- thanks to our excellent health care system, we easily live to be 90 years old! -- it just needs to be re-thought, more tax incentives to take care of our own family, to manage our own retirement, to keep more of our own money...but let's just stop there, no need for a p.s. bloggorama today...you see how quickly things can get out of hand.
