It's a Fundamental Duty Thing

Dear America,

happy thursday.

sometimes I feel like a chicken with her head cut off...I turn around sometimes and feel like I have lost days, sometimes even entire weeks, jumping from one thing to do to the next.  And sometimes, even taking on Other People's Things To Do, totally believing I am helping, not harming.  This is especially in reference to my girl -- and more specifically, her things.

But I've realized something.   Sometimes this Type A, highly overzealous activity, may serve as a disservice to the both of us.   She doesn't learn how to "multi-task," nor does she begin to recognize how the everyday tasks -- the ones that  maintain order all around her -- magically get done.   And the other side of this, of course, is that I just get too damn tired.  And with that, it begins to show in the quality of work of the things I DO...and let's  face it, G gets a wee bit cranky.

The truth is, she is getting older.   She is actually dangerously close to experiencing for the first time being away from home.  What does this mean?  She can begin to see more into the actions taken by the mysterious little fairy that bounces into her world to do her laundry, vacuum her room, clean the girl's room, shop for groceries, and pull together an array of meals every single day of the week, including Sundays.   And not only see it, but DO it.

Over time, her responsibilities can adapt to her level of rising maturity; this kind of compound interest, shaping her growing and impressionable young mind, helps her grow more independent.  It's a slow, methodical process taking advantage of all the tools available -- concerned and engaged parents, school, athletics, technology and communication, one's faith, all working in concert with one another....kind of like a village, but not really.

The thing is, it really doesn't take a village.  It takes a good family.

From John Locke's Second Essay Concerning Civil Government, we gain incite as to how this idea applies to the framework of early America:

"The power, then, that parents have over their children arises from that duty which is incumbent on them, to take care of their offspring during the imperfect state of childhood.  To inform their mind, and govern the actions of their yet ignorant nonage, till reason shall take its place and ease them of that trouble, is what the children want, and the parents are bound to [provide]."

and goes on to add:

"When he has acquired that state [of maturity], he is presumed to know how far that law is to be his guide, and how far he may make use of his freedom, and so comes to have it; till then, somebody else must guide him, who is presumed to know how far the law allows a liberty...Till then, we see the law allows the son to have no will, but he is to be guided by the will of his father or guardian, who is to understand for him..."

We are about to dramatically alter our second amendment rights by Executive Order.

What we are watching right now -- in Washington -- is Biden, and Congressmen, and even our president, scrambling around in an area it doesn't belong.    Chickens with their heads cut off -- dropping everything and jumping into the confiscation of guns, ammo, and an everyday right for everyday citizens of everyday America.

Bureaucratic energies...all going to the wrong place.

Misguided for all the right reasons (as it appears to be), they are in the midst of providing a great disservice to the American people, as well to themselves.

More gun control is not going to fix our problem; that simply takes the responsibility of understanding the law and the task and how it works out of the hands of good citizens, and thereby protecting the unlawful use of the law and the task and how it works safely into the liberty of bad citizens.

We have more gun violence upon innocents because we have more crazy people raising crazy people; we have more abandonment of parental responsibility to raise children into healthy, law abiding, thoughtful adults; we have more mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse,  and the like, directly affecting the welfare of entire communities and surviving without the proper resources or attention.

It's a fundamental duty as parents to be fully responsible to our duty as a parent! for the good of our own children and to the community we are surrounded.  I don't even care if that sounds like I was being redundant.  It's called having a lot of duty going around.  Crazy town duty.

But our society has grown so rampantly dysfunctional, we consider it to be totally normal.

And what do we do?  We respond, we overreact like fool's rushing in to solve the symptom, not the cause.  How do we immediately make a course correction on the fly?  We take away personal responsibility, self-reliance, accountability, and duty; our knee jerk, chicken-footed, reaction looks like we take away an everyday liberty from all of us.

Yes.  Tragedy happened in Sandy Hook.    Unspeakable, unimaginable, unconscionable, tragedy.

But today, it feels like the entire nation is running around with it's head cut off.

This is a fascinating twist, go here.   Who knew, right?  Surely, we hate the law, Obamacare, but gotta love that news!   But the greater truth is -- we knew this attack on "the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed" was coming from the Left.  It was just waiting for the crisis to appear.

We have more to talk about; but we will have to save it for another day; G has things to do...

... need to leave a little love note for my girl, outlining just a couple things for her to add to her list of things to do today.   [joy to the world...]

Just between you and me, let me leave things on this note:   Duty never sleeps as a parent, as Allstate, and as a citizen of these fine United States.  This much is true today as it was yesterday, just as it ever was two hundred years ago; and this duty never, ever goes away...even when they go away to college...even when 'the collective' gangs up upon the individual, using bully tactics to fundamentally transform everything this country is good for.

Make it a Good Day, G

It's an Allegiance to Simple Obedience Thing

"The great man knew not that he was great.
It took a century or two
for the fact to appear.
What he did, he did because he must:
he used no election :
it was the most natural thing in the world,
and grew out of the circumstances of the moment."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Dear America,

happy thursday.

it is the Day After Opening Day at the races, marking my two year anniversary and, in total, celebrating 382 thoughtful blog posts on the state of the nation... as according to a day in the life of this American girl.

My morning ritual, usually begins with just making coffee; outside of the lazy hazy days of summer, the day demands a more stringent attention to time...making breakfast for my girl and whisking her off to school.  Aside from the natural conformity to domestic bliss, the next hour is usually catching up on emails, reading the news, spanning the headlines, and reaching into my library for inspiration; and oh, lest we forget, reading the horoscope for kicks and giggles gets squeezed in somewhere between news and headlines...

It is merely a regiment, a routine, a method of submission to what is yet to come; it allows me to take simple steps forward in hopes of BEGINNING SOMETHING that is yet to appear, even within my own mind.

It takes time to build up the momentum of my thoughts on the day; while sometimes, even after I diligently followed up on the details of the morning, I can still find myself going hmmmm, wondering just where should we go today?

But the thing is, for this day, feeling rather high on the notion that I am still showing up, two years hence and with the creation of 382 somethings out of nothings -- my heart is overfloweth. The obedience to the work makes me smile; it gives me a sense of accomplishment; it wraps the arms of the universe around me and tells me, good job girl. [besides, it's my blog and I can toot my own horn if I want to]

But it is in the spirit of this obedience that demands my humble attention in this brand new day.

I suspect that all of us awake each morning doing whatever it is we do -- whether it is with great thought or very little thought at all; whether we are fully conscious, or completely dazed and confused, or somewhere in between, we respond to the world and the world responds right back to us.  It is perfect in and of itself, because it simply is.
"Every man sees that he is that middle point whereof every thing may be affirmed and denied with equal reason.  He is old, he is young, he is very wise, he is altogether ignorant....There is no permanent wise man except in the figment of stoics."  Emerson

We constantly evolve; while life, itself, is never static. And with the ever abundant material of life in which we are surrounded, we make choices -- with the truth and consequences immediately to follow, assuredly as the moon follows the sun (or vice versa).

The consciousness of chaos within the Debt Ceiling/Deficit/Balanced Budget debate, happening right now in Washington, gives us an idea as to how far we have fallen from mastering our obedience.  From one day to the next, every time we veer from keeping up with our daily tasks -- through the reprehensible actions of those in charge of America's fundamental regiment --  we chip away at the things that bind us together.  Whatever we thought was whole and sufficiently supplied day after day, simply is not.

"A man's genius, the quality that differences him from every other, the susceptibility to one class of influences, the selection of what is fit for  him, the rejection of what is unfit, determines for him the character of the universe.  As a man thinketh so is he, and as a man chooseth so is he and so is nature.  A man is a method, a progressive arrangement; a selecting principle, gathering his like to him wherever he goes. He takes only his own out of the multiplicity that sweeps and circles round him...

...Human character does evermore publish itself.  It will not be concealed.  It hates darkness -- it rushes into light.  The most fugitive deed and word, the mere air of doing a thing, the intimated purpose, expresses character.  If you act you show character; if you sit still you show it; if you sleep you show it. You think because you have spoken nothing when others spoke, and have given no opinion on the times, on the church, on slavery, on the college, on parties and persons, that your verdict is still expected with curiosity as a reserved wisdom.  Far otherwise; your silence answers very loud."
just a whole lot more of Emerson (isn't he simply the coolest!)

Silence speaks volumes, just as, in equal portion, those who choose the courage to speak.  The daily method of congress -- as according to the daily method of each man or woman in congress, as according to the daily method of nature -- both human nature and mother nature combined -- "out of the multiplicity that sweeps and circles round" -- prevails, one way or another.

The obedience, and humble attention, to this nation's debt has been long gone -- lost over decades, in various effects.  Following the "susceptibility of one class of influences" after another,  we find ourselves exhibiting the character of a nation.

It does not fit, does it?

We are at odds within ourselves, and against each other, over the natural tendencies and fundamentals this nation was made.  The routine has gone awry.  We have no idea which way is right or wrong, up or down -- we only see the chaos in between persons, while the order underneath it all is trampled upon, discredited, ridiculed, and left for dead.

My life, and your life, is left in the hands of people who continue to test character on whims of servitude, wings of desperation, flights of fancy, and feats of political posturing -- when in fact, all they really have to do, is the right thing.  And keep doing it -- one foot after the other -- as if the very universe relied.

The left makes fun of the right all the live long day, most commonly against the simplicity of our original pact (made altogether, by the way) resting upon the ideals built upon one's Common Sense; carrying with it, in equal portion, our duty and responsibility and allegiance to it, resting upon the ideals built upon one's Self-Reliance and Independence.

Seems to me, on this day, the trouble with free choice -- free will -- is that sometimes people do not choose to do the right thing; be it in the macro or the micro; be it in the individual or the collective.

We have a choice right now, as a nation, to do the right thing -- and for some odd reason, a great many in Washington either do not recognize it, or they would rather fall back to sleep.  It would seem, by the evidence left for us upon the light of day, they would rather face the truth another time; for the character required is simply not in them.

This lack of obedience is nothing new to Washington, it is just that We, the People, have only just now caught up to it.

"Our eyes are holden
that we cannot see things
that stare us in the face,
until the hour arrives when the mind is ripened,
-- then we behold them,
and the time when we saw them not is like a dream."
and, once again... thank you, Emerson

America's success relies upon each of us to do our due diligence, to be obedient to the day and to the tasks at hand, in ways large and small, whether we wish to go there freely, easily, without dragging our feet out of bed, or not.

until right now, "when the hour arrives when the mind is ripened," this blog was nowhere to be seen or heard.

...of course, it only came after obedient, deliberate action....after the coffee, after the news, after the headlines, after the inspiration hit me upside the face and back down again...and, lest we forget, after the horoscope -- which, I kid you not -- began with this:

"It will be up to you to take action today..."(Aries, yahoo! horoscopes)

Dear America,

Don't you just love a movie montage capturing the umpteen moments when a certain presidential wanna-be said the words 'roll back.' Hannity has been playing it over and over and over...

Makes it all the more clearer just how tight the relationship between the White House and the makers of Walmart; oh the sweet heart deal they got with Humana, now amplified daily in sixty second commercials, appealing to the aged, senior citizens to walk this way; they will wait for you to make it up to the door, take your time.

Once again, I am overwhelmed with the idea that the full orchestration of the wheeling and dealing is sequestered securely under the main stage; what we see going on in Washington is never on the up and up, never what it seems.

How can we really trust anyone?

And these last few days, my goodness, what a joke; how can a president stand before the American people, proclaim a deal is all but done, and then have it morph into days of rhetoric, disgruntled feelings, barbs and jabs from both sides, making his so called "compromise" absolutely, entirely meaningless -- while in the process, diminish his very own credibility?

It was as if Washington, and essentially his own party, abashedly gave him the hook....just  send in the clowns already, don't bother, they're here...loosing my timing this late...in my career...well maybe, next year...

[Great song -- and thank you, Frank, couldn't have sung it better myself.]

Somebody, please, tell me, just why is it we can't agree on one thing at a time anyway?  Why isn't it possible for an easy 'yea' or 'nay' vote on one thing, and one thing only, one thing at a time in Washington?  Why can't we just get exactly where each and every one of you stand -- without collaborating for an inside piece of the action, without gerrymandering the votes on the floor, and keep to a semblance of order entirely based upon one's convictions; and simply make a decision solely based on it being the right thing to do, for the people, by the people, with the people ... of course, doing so in a manner that is totally, utterly grateful and respectable of the office you hold and the larger America of whom you serve, while getting paid handsomely to do it?

I recognize we have a two party system; I understand we very rarely see eye to eye; but what is with these 2000 page bills and the perversions of power doctoring up the details -- to the extent that we don't know what's in it until we pass it?

What's with throwing in as much pork we possibly can, counter-productively risking the passage of the one thing that is sorely requiring immediate attention?

And I hate to keep rolling back to the same old argument, but what's with the manufactured rush now?  How is it possible for all of you to wait all year before tackling these HUGE, catastrophic, controversial, divisive issues and opting to do it under the Lame Duck congress, with those who no longer hold the power by the people?

What kind of management is that?

Let's just say, if my Reebok Easy Tone feet were sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office, you could bet this would be the first thing I would change.

What a mess, these last few days; just imagine what the world leaders are thinking...here's the POTUS appealing to the public, proclaiming victory in reaching a compromise, when not one bit of it was even true -- and when in fact, rolling back on one of his chief, and tirelessly overused, campaign promises to "roll back" those evil Bush tax rates.

O    M    G

And don't  you just love how they define the group of over $250 K always as "millionaires and billionaires," especially coming from the 14 trillionaire sitting on capital hill.  unbelievable.

What is that?  As if there are so many billionaires running around with the rest of us slackers?  Seriously?  Really?  That's what you want to run with? Let's just expand that to make it sound even better, throwing in zillionaires next time and plastering our pinkie to the corner of our lips. Hold up a second while I get a good belly laugh and lose a half inch in my waist...

There are just about 310 million Americans living here -- probably up to 20 zillion of that are illegals, but let's put that in a little perspective, shall we?  Less than one percent of our population are considered to be in the  Richie Rich category, okay?  And dovetailing on yesterdays ideas, just who do you think create the jobs?

Most people are not in a position to create a company that can create a million zillion jobs (okay, really about 2 M) like a Sam Walmart, as in THE Wal-Mart, who low and behold, looky there, are one of the top contributors to democrats, a notable shift from dolling out their thousands of dollars to republicans over the last two years -- and currently, one of the few corporations embracing the employee mandate under the new health care law. hmmmm what is going on behind the scenes there?

Interesting to note, a certain Hillary Clinton sat on the Board of Directors from the mid eighties and into the early nineties; but that little tidbit becomes all the more more fascinating given the company's history of being beholden to the free market system -- being decidedly against unionization -- with it's companies leaders regularly topping the list of the nations "millionaires and billionaires" for decades now. something must have changed...

And boy does this company make bank -- I didn't know how much until today, talk about billions, but equally grabbing my attention was the fact that nearly 100 million Americans shop at Wal-Mart each year, a third of the population; and what may come as no surprise, given their market advertising, might be the reality that the average Wal-Mart customer falls below the national income average -- but did you know that nearly one-fifth of it's base don't even have a personal bank account!

They also say, the people who gain the most from discount super stores, the Wal-Mart, Kmart, Target shoppers of this world -- are those who fall below a middle class income; the filling of this particular economic niche contributes to the harsh reality many Americans live in every day; these super stores make a difference from not only bring a value added benefit to millions of customers, they could very well be the difference of their survival.

So our president is in trouble for rolling back on a promise; he's been here before, I'm sure he will find a way to smooth over the rough spots, maybe throw in an executive order, furnish a pardon, make a special allowance for, exempting his favorite players; or maybe...

he'll simply just look the other way, ignore the controversy, ridicule the opposition, divide and conquer the base, his base, your base, nothing is sacred, we all scream for ice cream, anything can happen in a storm; or maybe...

nothing really matters at this point going forward -- the damage has been done, the trillions in health care legislation, and stimulus, and bailouts, and uncontrollable government spending, and the growth of
government faster than the growth of private industry, and the borrowing from Peter to pay Paul, will all amount to the same predicament for each and every one of us -- that even a Wal-Mart won't be able to help us now, as the inevitable bankruptcy looms larger than life itself.

America's total destruction will put us on the map, equally and fairly, next to the rest of the misfits and failures of a budding republic, that which provides for the safe keeping and healthy practice centering upon the sweet liberties and freedoms of the individual -- as everything this administration ever wanted would be made and procurred whether right under our noses or behind closed doors, stage left  -- creating the brand new, global community at large, yeah cloud, leaving free market capitalism falling to it's knees.  And oh thank God we believe in God.

Make it a Good Day, G

and to the Dems, the party now holding the gun and keeping the tax cuts "hostage" until something better can be worked out in a real compromise...to you I say, since when have you been concerned with deficits, the national debt, and not spending the people's money?  just when did that start?

Dear America,

Happy Wednesday.

This morning, I am sugar plum fairy wishing life came with a Burl Ives narration; something about his voice just brings a sense of calm, personifying a warm plate of cookies and cocoa accompanying us on our daily journey wherever we go.

What's with all the cryptic Christmas connection, you ask?

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer was on last night; and even though my girl was at a softball practice into the night, I sat there watching it --  for probably the thirty-third time -- all by myself.  Comforted by the corny cartoon figurines, reminded me, in song no less, of a simple time long ago -- nostalgia filled this girl to the brim and overflowing.

I am seconds from running out the door, a certain hiss and hum coming from a place that shouldn't be hissing and humming in my car, is requiring my immediate attention; however, heaven forbid I do so without a thought about the Christmas rush that seems to be adversely affecting congress again this year...yes, remember health care coming to us on Christmas Eve.  Talk about a lump of coal.

And just when we thought we would get a little rest-bit via the lame duck congress, this year finds us once again making no exception; they are plum making things go nutty fig-gy pudding on us, all over again...

As if...thinking they can finish off a laundry list of honey-do's before the end of the year chimes midnight...

They have had all year, like every year, and yet they always seem to create a state of emergency at the bitter end, as if we haven't watch them dicker and bicker the whole year through with excuses and abuses of power.  We can see you, congress; some might even say we can see you when you're sleeping, too.

And oh boy, all we have witnessed is naughty, naughty, naughty.

So let the season ring, you wish to draw upon your lame duck power to pack in a whole slew of change -- even before resolving serious issues; things like the Dream Act, repealing DADT, enacting the new START Treaty, throwing in a few trade agreements, responding with reasonable intelligence to the Wikileaks debacle, creating new business focus groups, voting down the ban on earmarks -- all this before signing off on a budget, months behind schedule (think you have until December 3rd fyi), and unconscionably allow the Bush Era tax rates languish by depreciation...because there are just so many other more important things to get to.

You had all year!...not sure what makes you think you have carte-blanche now...oooor...maybe it's because you will never have this self prescribed vantage point to push the liberal agenda on through again, at least not in this lifetime!

By the way, the mid-term "shellacking" occurred by and large as a response to the last time you pushed legislation through that we didn't take a liking to -- and now, you think,  it seems more than reasonable to force feed a roast beast worth of legislation down the pipe?  are you kidding me? hello...Whoville may still be singing, for these antics have no rhyme or reason for the season, but you better believe me when I say, we are making our list and checking it twice, already at the start for next year.

What's happening right now in Washington is a hot mess -- the cocoa has spilled, the marshmallows are sticky, and they are oozing down the capital steps in a sea of holiday hype and hoopla, knowing full and well we can't afford to buy whatever it is they are hocking in the stocking; the rhetoric is heaping into piles, but as the days of reckoning draw to the near, my heart is warmed by the coming of a savior  -- and in more ways than one.

This Obamanation, by design, is about to cave in.  Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, and it's nickname this year is auld lang syne...

January cannot come soon enough.

In the meantime, I wonder how many old time Christmas specials I can squeeze in...

Hold up, Burl is telling me I must be on my way, otherwise, I may soon find myself getting around on some kind of imaginary sleigh.

Make it a Good Day, G

Dear America,

Congress has an 11% approval rating.  Lowest ever. Ever.

hummmm wonder what's going on here...

Oh but, as the President made very clear, in his taped appearance using his handy dandy teleprompter, addressing his flock at the Netroots Nation convention, basically a body of left wing journalists, media, and bloggers who met in Vegas last weekend, he said this to appease the crowd:

"[for many Americans] change hasn't come fast enough,
ahh, hasn't come fast enough for me either."

I guess, being under the impression that he was addressing the 11% who still approve of his policies, he needed to prove he was far from done; of course for the rest of us -- the 89% who despise everything this administration, via this congress with the honor of the lowest approval rating ever -- we are left with merely hope...that things will change soon.

And I'm disheartened really, for a president making such a statement addressing a fringe group -- who for all intents and purposes, was created only about five years ago in order to elevate the protest against the previous administration and help boot them out -- like, you know, sort of like coming together at the grassroots, to affect change on the political horizon, for the nation's future is at stake, sort of thing.  It would be almost as bad as a sitting president to lounge with the ladies of The View -- oh wait, that is happening tomorrow.

hmmm but this political activism, starting at the grassroots, makes me think of what else has spawned simply from the urge to change Washington across America?  Tea, anyone?

The Tea Party has thousands rally, millions actually, when you put us all together; and as grassroots (or astrotturf, according to nancy) that it may be, it doesn't matter if we gather together, or not.  For inside the typical tea party American, is a root belief -- one that doesn't sit on the fringe, but is fully and proudly embodied one and ALL.

Call the Tea Party whatever you want -- but most of us know who we are and what we are fighting for; it just so happens to be direct opposite of the liberal agenda.

There were 2100 people who attended the Netroots Nation convention -- to listen to Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, President Obama -- with Van Jones  (who left the administration as the Green Czar in the dead of night, under controversy with his ties to the 9/11 Truthers and questionable connections to the Communist party) as the Key Note Speaker.

but here's a taste of what Harry had to say, "oh, we're going to have a public option, it's just a question as to when" -- with hopes to stir the base, even as he grapples with keeping his Senate seat.

and here's Nancy, "When you talk about reducing the deficit and Social Security, you're talking about apples and oranges"  -- added to the kool-aid, we would have a pretty good punch.

and here's Van, "I resigned. I did not want to be the banana peel that the president of the United States slipped on trying to win on health care"  -- what's with all the fruit?

The final speaker was Al Franken, but I will save us all from revisiting that frosting on the fruitcake convention, but it begs me to ask, if these are the best that the left has to offer, what does the right have to worry about?

Netroots is the fringe outlet.  They are the true extremists.

The Tea Party coalitions around the country simply exemplify the majority of Americans who just want our freedom back -- which 54% of all Americans lean, when asked if they are more aligned with Tea or the O, as in administration.

What is fascinating to note, given that this country is made up of 13% of African-Americans, six percent of the total Tea Party membership is black; that doesn't seem to fit in with the liberal narrative of blatant racism within the party.

Allen West, just one of 32 black republicans running for office -- and happily associated with the Tea Party -- makes the astounding observation that (Tea = racists) was all but made up by the media.

As the president himself pokes fun at the Tea Party, calling them "tea baggers" instead,  I would love to have the president meet an audience simply of black republicans.  What would he say?  What questions would they ask? Would they break bread together and drink tea, a beer, or coffee?  How would that go down?

Besides the NAACP conference of last month, we currently have the Urban League, having their annual conference in D.C.; I have long admired the Urban League, for a number of reasons.  Years ago, when I worked downtown, in San Diego, I became familiar with their activities and events in our area, especially in terms of fundraising and community outreach.

Most notably is the level of business acumen and innovation to enhance and grow their mission, beginning with changing the perception of failure in the black community -- always putting their best foot forward, working within the corporate circles, reaching into and finding resolution to local issues with both a heart, and a mind to move forward -- not keep looking back.

I am enlivened this morning, reading the thoughts and level-headedness of the current president, Marc Morial, given the last couple of weeks of racial dialogue, who knew where he would go with it:
"Race is still a challenge for us to talk about openly. It is still one of the most challenging issues that faces the nation, but the Urban League wants to focus on a productive discussion around issues like race and education and race and jobs. There's such a focus on talk, but we also need to focus on action."

"Sometimes people only see our advocacy voice, but they don't see the work we do in our offices around the country. We are not an inside-the-Beltway organization. We're an organization whose strength is outside in the communities around the nation."

(quotes taken from Urban League avoids turning up heat on race, by Krissah Thompson, a Washington Post Staff Writer)

The liberal media, and especially  fringe gatherings like netroots.nation, continually destroy opportunities to have open conversations about race, for they cling to the way we were.  They no more want the country to all get along than they want BP to fix the leak, for they would then no longer have an opportunity to throw the race card out when they need to drum up their base, or hit a nerve, or make the opposition out to be the evil villain.  The left can only thrive, and survive, by creating separation and division -- creating a case for why you need "them"... the government, I am here to help -- creating a case for building a bigger and better government (not).

The liberal media -- like netroots.nation, like journolists -- can be summed up as the new fringe group, with unfortunately the opportunity to affect millions, simply by running the same sad narrative over and over again with a host of networks at their beckon call.

I realize I am all over the place today...my mind is just trying to get around the last few days, weeks, months... between the story of Shirley Sherrod and Fox, between the NAACP and Breitbart, between this administration and the sound majority of 89% of us who no longer believe in Congress, between the mounds of sensationalism journalism pitting good, honest to goodness white people against good, honest to goodness black people, I am hoping that what happened in Vegas within the confines of netroots.nation simply stays in Vegas.

But even if these "journalists" haven't a change of heart, 98 days from now, the real nation may have someone like Allen West in congress, and be in a position to change everything back to the way we were, but in a good way.

For we know better.
For 'hear ye, hear ye, ' we are not fringe, we are not extremists, we are not even simply a movement -- we are simply the way, the truth, and the light, speaking on behalf of an American majority -- we know who we are.  We are Americans.  We come in all colors and sizes; and come as republicans, democrats, independents and libertarians. We are people gathered together, in union, who believe in the Republic, the rule of law, our Constitution, and the Golden Rule; print that.

We have better things to DO; and albeit sometimes wise, talking, in and of itself, doesn't get anything done.

Make it a GOOD Day, G

be good, do good, see good and good smiles back at you.

Dear America,

Miss me?

I've come to the conclusion a lot can happen in a week. Not that this revelation is anything new; it's just that in hindsight, this past week's been quite a doozy.

How is it possible, while I'm caravaning my 92 year old grandmother across the interstate from California to New Mexico, I can miss so much? Seriously. Really? No, seriously.

Of course, family duty called and while it was just a wee bit more important to be Driving Little Miss Daisy, I'm not one to like missing out on anything. And as much as traveling two days in a car with little granny can be enriching, a blessing of undivided attention and captivating story time, I clearly missed some really good stuff.

  • Monday: Obama's Green Czar, Van Jones, resigned over the Labor Day weekend

  • Tuesday: Obama's speech to our children, with spoon fed indoctrination to follow

  • Wednesday: Obama's speech to the spoils of Congress, along with a fabulous candid interruption... personally, I have to give a big shout out to Mr. Wilson for that one, even though I've never heard of you before, kudos dude.

  • Thursday: Day After (reminiscent of my very first Blog 7/23/09) Obama's sales pitch to America and Joe Wilson's war; and interestingly enough if you could please allow for a little pop culture decay, it is also the day after Ellen DeGeneres was announced as Paula Abdul's replacement for an American Idol judge. Are you kidding me? Is that a joke? Not that it matters or is relevant to anything, as in everything else that permeates the streets of Hollywood....but come on now, even though I find Ellen really funny, you've got to be kidding.

  • Friday: 911 may we never forget

  • Saturday: 912 March on Washington DC (my mama and papa present and accounted for...)

Speaking of my missing out, I can't help but notice the Commander in Chief skipped town himself.

How bold and brazen is that? Or rather, what a cowardly way to welcome in the age of change, as you said you would do when campaigning to the American people; your transparency is showing again by way of blatantly dismissing the march of a mere 2 million Americans in your own backyard.

Are the American people that threatening to you when exhibiting their personal freedoms to speak up valiantly against the rape and pillage of our country and the detrimental loss of a limited government? The buck stops with you, Mr. President, or do you not get that; you are accountable to answer to all American people? Talk about stupidity.

Come on, man, you said you were all about bipartisan politics, and bridging the grand canyon between both sides of the aisle, and making a real change in Washington, a change that we can believe in. YOU SAID THAT and WE BELIEVED; apparently some of us were just stupid enough to believe that that kind of change could be found in you.

I find it so amusing (not really) seeing our President stand up there, all MLK like, in front of Congress, campaigning again, selling his next ambition, selling his sold out soul, selling off the American dream one mortgage at a time as if he believes a socialist medicine state -- even though we can't call it that -- is really and truly the answer. How can he keep a straight face?

Am I missing something?

Moreover, how can even the staunchest of Democrats insist on following such catastrophic intentions and actions? Are they not the true blue American I have trusted to sit along the opposite side of the aisle all this time? Is it really so much more important to support a President who is willing to destroy a country for the sake of the party? Unbelievable.

We have seen the likes of people leaving a party (Arlen Spector) or not supporting party action (Sarah Palin); and revel in both. We have seen demonstration of people, whether just one or 2 million, stand up for what they believe in; while not only make apparent the wrong doings, but in turn make them right.

Obama may have made the wrong choice in missing the action on Saturday; but more important to his loss is our gain by coming together as Americans.

Even though the mass media of ABC and CBS and NBC have sold out, too, on the opportunity to show true American journalism by keeping in tow with the Obamacare regime, we know that our mighty 2 million march stomped out any doubt of whether or not Americans were MIA.

It is confirmation. It is revelation. It is reclamation to our unalienable rights as Americans for all the world to see.

I will not miss out on being a part of this kind of change, and trust you will too.

Make it a Good Day, G

PS good to be home in America

Dear America,

"Just say NO."

Ah yes, the quintessential slogan for the eighties. What do you say we bring it on back and send Congress a message. It's not too late you know, really it isn't.

I wrote letters to my representatives this evening courtesy of a website congress.org. I believe it to be totally non-partisan and from what I have seen, they are an amazing vehicle to fast, efficient, nearly immediate connection to our beautiful Congress as one can get. Not only can you take advantage of sending letters to your representatives without a walk to the mailbox, but at your fingertips is a virtual congressional aide to guide you through current legislation, history of voting records and ability to see other letters written by the American people.

What made my mouth drop was reading these other letters from other Americans; and I got so warm and fuzzy inside. (You know I'm referencing the crazy town people with Swastikas like Nancy Pelosi refers to...the fanatical and angry mob people that are only there because some right-wing activist group is organizing it...those people.)

I'm telling you, every letter I plugged into was so not happy with Congress. No matter what part of the country; the letters were thoughtful and insightful and full of passion! Each one spelled out a message from the heart with regards to this current Health Care "crisis" and they were all along the same lines..."Just say NO."

What was also fascinating was understanding how even though we were all saying the same thing, we got there from widely different experiences and views. It wasn't just that we were saying no, we were validating the no with good reasons based on what we know for ourselves to be true.

And if what we are hearing from congress is true in that they are dismissing us Americans who are responding as partisan talking idiots, then they have another thing coming I'm telling you. These letters from individuals like myself, and thousands more, are not coming from a pack mentality; it is personal. Very personal.

From my average American perspective, I don't believe one bit of this response is peer pressure. Clearly, Americans are not stupid. We have done our homework, we have had a chance to see what works (or doesn't) in other countries, we have even seen cases where private hospitals flourish, as in the Cleveland Medical Center, and we have a real issue with bureaucratic waste and fraud.

When running all the numbers (costs vs benefits) evidence is just not there to support this kind of measure; this health care bill simply does not justify itself to be the end all, all or nothing, solution to the 15% of the population who remain uninsured. And we need to look no further than within the elite, ivy league campus of Congress to discover who really has the issue with just saying no.

So write your congressman or woman today. And tell them what?

Right...Just say NO!

Make it a good day, G
